Anyone else unsure about jumping to iOS 18.1? I’m excited for Apple Intelligence but not sure that I want to add probably another month of beta testing to my timeline. 😬
This is very important to consider. All the people jumping to 18.1 just so excited about AI not considering that it will not likely be until Oct or longer in beta.

I feel if someone is willing to go from iOS 17 to 18.0 beta, then why not go for 18.1.

I can't, as my phone doesn't have the necessary power to make Siri smart (or less stupid, depending on your point of view), so I'm hoping enough people stick on 18.0 to keep this thread alive.

Going for 18.1 only makes sense if your device can support AI features (hardware itself plus regional and language restrictions). I am staying put on iOS 18.0, as I have iPhone 15 and am EU-based. Once Apple bring it to the EU, I can try it on my M1 iPad, though, so not all is lost. 😉

It’s a shame that Apple does not allow Apple Intelligence in EU even though America and the EU agreed for new regulations for Artificial Intelligence.
Hope this will change soon!

I hope beta 5 will come today, for myself I will stick with iOS 18 betas.

Dev beta 4 revised is pretty good in my eyes, even though they did not fixed the charging heat issue…

Well, iOS 18.1 won't install on a phone that can't handle the AI stuff, so that decision is made for us :)

Public Beta 2 has been great for me so far. I can actually tap my notifications to load the relevant app or swipe to dismiss. Battery life seems just about the same. I haven't noticed any issues.

I'd like to join 18.1 beta but if all the AI stuff is restricted to the USA then there's really no point in moving to it for me. Not EU.

AI is restricted only for EU and China, anywhere else in the world you just change language and region to English/US and should work.

I like the dark mode for app icons, but the general darkening of the Home Screen is horrible. It makes some of my wallpapers difficult to see. A white wallpaper looks gray.

I keep my wallpaper at normal brightness with dark icons to match the set brightness

This has nothing to do with brightness and dimness. The screen has a darkening baked in. Here's what a white wallpaper looks like. One side is the white wallpaper.

So texted the first person that was not on iMessage since downloading the beta. No RCS message. Is AT&T not one of the carriers supported?
