Horrible lag when swiping from today screen (widget screen) to first page on both my 16PM & 12PM.

On the 12PM, it’s even worse, it directly goes to the second page after the swipe from the widget page.

Edit: There’s also a subtle, but definitely noticeable lag when going from one Home Screen page to another if there’s widgets on it.

I installed iOS 26.1 on my work iPad Air with M2 and for me it's definitely better than iOS 26.0.1. I tried adding some widgets to the page left of the home screen and I don't notice any lag

Shame on Apple! This update for sure has shown me just how unpolished the initial public release of iOS 26 was in September, including 26.0.1.

I’m very surprised by this update and how much faster and fluid this has made my Air! Performance is incredible. Keyboard also feels far more precise and snappy.

We’ll see how battery life is over the next few days, but it’s drained 3-4% less sitting idle overnight.

All running great on 17 Pro Max.

I don’t mind a few micro stutters when I swipe from the widget screen to the home screen, this is a very minor visual glitch. I wouldn’t have noticed it had I not read about it here.

Everything else is perfect for me on this release. I’m quite pleased 👌🏻
The control center is still ghosting. No idea why nobody is talking about it. It’s something you swipe down a lot during the day.

Apple has quietly added 6Ghz support to Wifi in India. Good job Apple. First mobile company to do so after Govt authorised part of 6Ghz for personal use.

Edit: Only on iPhone 17 models. My iPad Pro M4 and iPhone 15 Pro Max both Wifi6e cannot see 6Ghz. Another half arsed update.
Pretty sure this would have been listed in the patchnotes. Probably a bug on these devices?

You paid a premium for a device with a 120Hz screen for the smoothness of the user interface, but they released poor software with "minor visual glitch" and you’re pleased? Great!

Jaysus, there was a pile of security updates in this one, a few zero day ones as well.
Haven't had time to deepdive into it yet, but can only assume 18.7.2 is around the corner along with earlier OS version updates as well as its very likely many of these fixes need to be fixed in earlier OS versions.

Yes, I’m pleased because no matter what software you have on any device, it will never be perfect. This is life, don’t sweat the small stuff - it’s all about your perspective of the world. This is insignificant in the grander scheme of things. The OS is 99% great - I’m delighted with that 😊

I get what you guys mean now about the lag and glitches when swiping through the Home Screen and widgets there’s definitely some frame drop. I installed it via IPSW, just like everyone’s been talking about, and to my surprise, I was able to reproduce the issue too. It’s not too annoying, but I’m sure a point update will roll out to fix it before 26.2.

It seems there’s a lag switching between control center pages as well, although noticeably lesser than the lag on the home screen. Feels like a noticeable downgrade from 26.0.1. I think the only ones who are happy with this update are the specimen who obsess over benchmark scores & the copium huffing individuals.

I only hope the battery is better.

is there anyway to downgrade to 26.0.1 and restore my data from 26.1?
You can downgrade as long as 26.0.1 is still being signed. You can't restore a backup that was made with a newer OS version though. If you have a backup from 26.0.1, before you upgraded, you can use that one.

Am I missing something? 26.1 is not available for me on either my 17 Pro Max or my M5 iPad
Sometimes you need to drag down the Software Update page repeatedly to refresh it until it shouts Uncle and shows the update.

I’ll take a few micro stutters (can barely notice unless trying to see them) for the option to remove swipe left for camera on the lock screen. How it’s taken Apple this long I’ll never know, but at least it’s an option now 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

So, it wasn’t until now that I tried the “proper” Liquid Glass as Apple intended it (had to turn off Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast).

I am… speechless.

10-15 years ago, if I saw a homemade skin like this on one of those sites like 4PDA or XDA, I’d consider it a low effort hack job by some acne-covered high school “developer”.

For Apple to produce this in 2025 is… astonishing.View attachment 2575695
Sadly, I agree. This interface is so 2000s…

I mean, it is pretty, but it feels outdated and I’m pretty sure it taxes the GPU way more than a flat interface, thus, increasing the power consumption…

I was pinning my hopes on this update finally fixing the CarPlay disconnecting issues with my iPhone Air.
Getting really frustrated with it now.
