There's now an option on how iTunes Match downloads songs (Use Cellular Data).
This was there before.

It wasn't on my phone. I flipped the stupid iTunes Match switch so many times, I know it wasn't there. The only two switches were the iTunes Match ON/OFF Switch and the Show All Music ON/OFF Switch.

This was how it was on my iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1:

On the iPhone 4S, if you turn the phone off whilst it's charging instead of staying off it turns itself back on :(

All iPhones have always done that. As does my other phone (a Nokia Lumia)

----------

Is that why the UK switched from metric to imperial for most of their measurements? Mostly for distance, I think they stick with metric for weight, as it would just lead to confusion over there.

I think imperial is here to stay.

Sorry folks, back on topic now.

We actually switched to metric FROM imperial for most things. The exception is distance on roads and railways, which are still calculated in miles and yards (roads), and miles and chains (railways)

----------

I have noticed more weight measurements being given in KG now and not stones. Miles will probably stick in the UK forever though.

Probably, although Ireland very recently converted to km.

No, they haven't. That's why I posted it as it's a change from every other iPhone/iOS version I've had.
Turns out it only does it when charging in an iPhone 2G dock though.

It was in 5.0.1 also ;)

For the iPad, or the iPhone? Because I really wanted that feature on my iPhone, through 5.0.1 and 5.1b, however, I never found it on my 4S until after the 5.1 update... iPad, however, always had the option.

My iPhone4 now dims the screen for a few moments before locking and going black. Is his new or did I just notice it?

Also, Safari is way faster to load pages. But I'm sure others have mentioned this already.

Was on my 4S. I don't own an iPad.

Just noticed that there is no camera button on the iPad2 lock screen. If you double click the home button while on the lock screen, you get volumne and track controls for music! I never noticed this before, but then, I don't normally use the iPad for taking photographs.

Just noticed that now you can add new apps in locations services even if don't allow changes in restrictions, which I remember it was pretty annoying having to allow changes just to add new apps before 5.1.

Well that's weird, because my iPhone did that on 5.0.1 so I'm pretty sure this isn't a new feature from 5.1

in Reminders if you set a location based reminder and specify a date n time, then the location based reminder wont start querying your location till that date

not sure if this is new to 5.1 or something that's always been there and I've just noticed

either way I wish they'd take it further and start offering ability to set start and end times for location based events e.g 'from 7am till 9 am each weekday check n see if I've arrived at the office, if I have remind me to book in' or 'on Saturdays if I'm near the Post office between 9 and 5pm remind me to buy some stamps'

I found another new UI change. While watching the iPad introduction on my 4S, the video view changer on the top right (fill screen button) has switched. It now shows what mode you're in (pointing outwards indicating video has filled) vs in previous OS versions the video would have black bars and you would need to tap the arrows pointing outwards to make the video fill the screen.

Cover flow in the music app on my iPhone 4S is definitely smoother than on 5.0.1.

OK. To clarify, I mean you first plug the phone in whilst it's still on, then turn it off. It should stay off. In my iPhone 2G dock with 5.1, it now turns back on. It doesn't with the charger.

I don't recall it ever having the shortcut.

The option to play iTunes Match songs over 3G was bundled in with the Store option to 'Use Cellular Data'. I know because when I tried to play something that wasn't on my phone, a popup would say that it cannot play songs without wifi unless I enabled cellular data and had two buttons to press, Close and Settings, to get you right into the option to enable it. I always overlooked it until one day I read it carefully.
