There is another note widget with some sort of keyboard in the Notification center:

-Speed Note with Widget | 0,99 dollar - create/save Notes with build-in keyboard in Notification center | by Kratos Digital Limited | official website

Very odd decision if this would happen indeed. If no buttons are allowed within a widget on iOS then i thing it will lose a lot of functionalities and most widget like Evernote and PCalc are no longer helpfull if you can no longer go to a feature within an in App or in the case of PCalc calculate on the widget itself.

I really don't like how Apple is looking at reviewing these widget and all these things that are not allowed now.

I really hope they decide otherwise in all cases:
- allow buttons
- allow shortcut to feature in an app from the developer themselve
- allow shortcuts to your own app and other apps (Launcher, Quick-Tap) without opening the own app first to e.g. send an e-mail
- allow the option to enter e.g. a note, calculation directly in notification center

I would love to have a widget which can show an online photo (type in the url yourself) which can refresh once every x time and/or when you open your Notification Center.
There are photo widgets mentioned in the topic start post however i believe none of those are capable of showing one or more images/webcams (JPG).

It would be great to have this for the winter season here in Europe to show one or more webcams at resorts in e.g. Austria/France/Switzerland.
I do already have apps like Bergfex Ski Pro but that don't have a widget (yet).

I received a response from two developers on my request to create a webcam feature in the existing Photo Bar or Photo of the Day widgets.

They both said they are thinking about creating such a widget and probably would create one in the near future.

Let's hope it will be sooner then later. :)

A few new widgets are out there:

-My Verizon Mobile | Free, only able to use with Verizon | cellular data tracking

-Pinow - location information | Free, temporary free in-app purchase

-Beautiful Sky: Weather, Widget, Radar, Satellite, Alerts & Forecast | 1,99 dollar

-Sticky Notes HD | (temporary) Free

Any spell checker widget out yet?

Sorry i don't think so.

I just noticed a very good blog post from the developer of Launcher (from Cromulent Labs) about the odd Apple approval/reject rules. I totally agree with him. Apple should make the rules clear and publish them on the developer page regarding widgets in the notification center or apps in general.
You should all read this and retweet it!

I agreed too, what a joke that his app was pulled and others remained despite clearly breaching similar rules etc..

Makes a mockery of apple having their rules for the sake of rules..

Granted they can do what they want but it was doing them no harm whatsoever..

The mind boggles with apple sometimes.....

I did manage to use the Photo of the Day widget to show webcam images in the notification center but you need to manually add your favorite webcam link (to a JPG image) to this URL http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=47f1c995595b78470bd1012706e16a84 and choose a name of your choice. Then press 'Run Pipe' > Then press 'Get RSS' and copy the link to the widget and select custom RSS feed.

Please keep in mind that Yahoo Pipes could have a delay of approx 5 minutes. Also some webcams only refresh every 5/10 minutes or even once an hour. Also some webcams stop refreshing around 16.00CET (European Alps) and then are refreshing again the next morning.

Please keep in mind that the webcam you have found needs to have a permanent URL so e.g.:
http://cms.zugspitze.de/static/webcams/k03.jpg
So should not include a date/time within the JPG file name otherwise you will keep seeing the same old webcam image from that timestamp.

I already contacted the developer of this widget and also the developer of another widget Photo Bar and both responded to my e-mail and said they would probably try to build another widget with the webcam option without RSS feed so a direct link to a JPG for example and an auto refresh option.

Example result:

Battery Doctor does this....It also cleans out cache files etc to give you more free space.

Indeed that is the widget. It was already mentioned in the topic start post. I did notice that it is (no longer) available in the US App Store but it's still available in for example the UK, NL App Store.

Something else. If someone wants a webcam within their Notification center then check my previous post which i just updated.

It's still in the US store , same name ,just a different color icon .

It seems another widget (TaptoShare) was removed from the App Store. I can't find anything on the removal on the website of the official website.

Just found out about TapToShare & it's *exactly* what I need. Too bad, I wasn't able to download it while it was still available

Tried to contact the developer on Twitter (@nonth), but his account is private, and I haven't gotten any replies from him yet :(

Does anyone know an alternative? I only need the Twitter widget (I don't use Facebook).

Pretty odd. It's a different developer name but looks quite similar although i don't read anything about cache cleaning which the other app/widget could do. Just to be clear. It's not for my own use. I'm not in the US myself and i cannot find it the NL App Store to test it out but thanks for supplying this link.
I will add the link to the start topic post.

Check out the official website of TaptoShare here which shows an explanation and also an e-mail account.

A few alternatives:

-Quickiee | Free | by Manar Alhamdy | official site |

It doesn't have a universal app/iPad app so doesn't look good on an iPad. It opens the specific app first and then opens the tweet. If you don't like that then try the Quick-tap workaround as mentioned below.
You can also add 2 other options to e.g. WIFI, Location Settings see explanation in the Launcher topic.

My favorite:
-Quick-Tap | Free, in-app purchase 1,99 dollar TIP!! / tips on adding quick settings via Add Item > More > Browse to... > enter URLs mentioned here | by Wildpalm Ltd. | official site |

To add a Tweet post you need to choose the Safari browser within the app and type in 'twitter://post?message' as URL and then give it a name such 'Tweet'.

-GestLaunch + Widget | 2,99 dollar (Widget to direct action in this paid version only) | Free (no Widget in Free version) | Widget icons or actions not adjustable, standard set of widgets. | by Alfonso Piazza | official site |

The tweet option is only possible with the payed version and can only be done by pressing 'Clipboard' > Tweet icon and then you automaticaly have you last copy/clip text in there (not always what you want) so i would suggest to use Quick-Tap but then you don't have a nice looking icon but it works great :)

I confirm that there is Boost Memory in the widget and Cache Cleaning in the app . I am not in the US either but as most of the apps I want/need are in the US app store , I opened a US account with gifts cards bought there or sent by friends ;-)

Thanks for confirming that those features are in there. I have mentioned both apps/widgets separate in the start post.
Just a tip: Please try to quote correctly. It now seems that you are quoting yourself everytime.

Something else.
Check out these two articles from the Guardian and Gizmodo on recent Apple decisions on widgets.

Very odd ,on my previous post I can see myself quoting you !!! I'll have to look into that .
Thank you for the links .

Glimpse lets you set a screenshot of a website as a widget. It works like a gallery type deal. Am using it for weather webcams. A lot easier than the RSS deal.

Thanks. I will really try that one tonight althought 2,99 is not cheap just to compare but it's quite a unique widget. I also noticed a review here.

I have added it to the start post message (categories: Quick launch, News, Photo).

I read it from somewhere that Quick-Tap is preparing a major update 1.1 very soon.

Hopefully it comes before Christmas.
