Might be tricky because it apparently turns off some services that some might still want, even in LPM. Probably best to let each user to decide based on their current situation.

Still, I would like to have an option to turn automatic switch. The battery level at 0% will turn off ALL of services without letting you to decide and regardless of your current situation.

Probably released due to a deadline. The battery life has been erratic on a 6+. Sometimes it wasn't so bad and sometimes it was really bad. Try again after a few betas. Once we get half way through the cycle it will become clear how good it will be. Even in this state there is a lot to like in the improvements.
Do you remember the try-on for Apple Watch? Those watches can do nothing other than running a scripted demo when you long press the side button. I doubt Apple uses the same technique on wwdc announcement. Maybe what we see in this beta is the real performance state while the one used in announce has been optimised for demo purpose.
Plus, Apple don't need to take care about third party app performance and reliability other than the app will be used for demonstration in wwdc.

Have to take back this. It only takes time to move from 100 to 99. After that it is nearly a free fall. I tried for 2 more days and i had to plug it in 2 times a day minimum. I moved back to 8.3 and battery backup is back to normal.

Anyhow, I am not complaining about the battery backup in ios 9 beta as it is a beta and this is very much expected from a beta. I have been using betas since ios 4 and have seen this almost each time.

That said, this beta was probably the most stable in terms of crash, reloads, resprings etc when compared to earlier beta 1's. In fact most of my 3rd party apps work pretty fine.

So for people still considering whether to install this or not, above might be useful info.
I have upgraded my notes, so there is no way to move back. :(

Can anyone confirm how do these work?

- Selection faster in photo app (like google photos, press and hold and select multiple photos)
- Notification banners stay until dismissed.
- Redesigned Safari "Close Tab" button

Faster selection is absolutely critical. Recently I've had to delete hundreds of pictures because I was running out of storage, and it was a huge pain in the ass to select them one by one.

Notifications banners stay until dismissed does it mean that we'll have to manually dismiss ALL notifications? Doesn't sound like a very good idea. :/

And the Close Tab button in Safari, I guess it's iPad only? I don't use Safari on the iPhone mainly because it's very annoying to manage tabs.

Just wanted to check before adding it into the wiki, but has anyone else noticed (UK based) that we now get the location of a call shown below a number when calling?

In the past I believe this was limited to America, but I just received a 020 call and it said "London, England" beneath the number and again in the call history which I could of sworn wasn't there before going to 9 (but wanted to check first :) )

I noticed that too, it wasn't there before.

Here's a video about the faster photo selection:

Don't know anything about the rest.

How can I enable the split view on my iPad Air 2? I already know how to do the slide out. Thanks

When you do slide-over, you will get a splitter bar that you can drag and resize. It's only supported on the apple apps at the moment, which maybe why you aren't seeing the splitter bar.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but when I was testing iOS 9, yahoo mail doesn't push anymore, only fetch. I went to settings and there is no push setting for yahoo mail. I went back to iOS 8.4 beta 4.

This video says this function was implemented in iOS 4, and removed from iOS 5 to iOS 8. Now, it's back....
If I can slide and choose multiple items in such as recent phone call, message, and mail, this could be really cool, and practical. Huge time saver.

I guess China mainland is the first wave of countries with this feature enabled.

Ok, I am back on iOS 9 beta again.

First time I installed beta it was with restore and clean install and it was a mess on my iphone 6. However, this time I used the Update option and go figure, its much less buggy.

Only bug I've encountered so far is that some Messages are not showing up on my iphone, yet they are showing up on my iMessage on my Mac. Not sure why. Anyone else encounter missing messages?

Oddly I haven't noticed the font change. Looks the same to me.

I downloaded the font on my JB'd iOS 8.1.2 and after one day I hardly notice the difference from Helvetica too. The only thing that stands out and looks a little different are the numbers and the letters a seem a little curvier on the keyboard but otherwise not much difference and that's a good thing. I was worried. I guess it seems a little more readable since the letters seem a little more crammed together.

All of the early betas I've used going back years have run slow. This isn't the true performance and we won't see that for a few more betas.

Can anyone share observations about (and/or screenshots from) the Podcast app? I'm mostly curious:

  1. Does it still support "My Stations"? It's not on the only screenshot I've seen but I hope it's just tucked a tap or two away.
  2. Can you finally "rate" episodes (I miss this from when Podcasts was baked into the Music app.
  3. I hope (and doubt) they added a way to easily see downloaded episodes from within the app.

Seriously? It's so much more clear especially at smaller sizes. I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but it's surprisingly nice.
