It's slightly better than 9.0 GM on my 6 Plus. Sounds like it's much better on the regular 6 though. It's a shame the 6 Plus is so underpowered.

If this is the case, really looks bad on Apple that the 9.1 beta is running better than a 9.0 GM that has not even been released to the general public. Software and operating systems should be released when they are done not just because the date promised comes around. 9.1 runs better because the 9.0 GM probably had to be pushed so they can load something on the new iPhones to meet a date. How about give us a polished iOS when it is done rather than constant buggy crap?

Installed iOS 9 last night. Running off the first charge, battery life ain't too bad.

I would love to see how you use your phone throughout the day! In order for me to attain these numbers on my 6, I would literally have to barely use it for anything other than sending text messages over the course of ten hours. I'm running bare minimum system services, and have every battery saving option enabled. Even in low power mode, I wouldn't be able to get more than the 4-5 hours I see on the betas, GM and now on 9.1 - and I'm not doing much. 100 or so messages throughout the day, email, an hour or so of safari use, 30-45min of streaming music and another hour or so of social media with the Paper app, ad Instagram. Not complaining about battery life, as I'm almost always home by the time I need to plug in, but on heavy days where I need to make a few short calls, reply to a lot of messages and do some heavy lifting...I see drops of 1% per minute at times. So these 10 hour usage stats always blow my mind. The iPad on the other hand, I've seen two months of standby and almost 20 hours of usage at times.

I've been binge watching Season 1 of Narcos on Netflix all day. Haven't left the house, taken a call or really sent any messages. Just hit 15% and have 10 hours standby, 4hr 45min usage. Most is safari and social media. All Wi-Fi. Not terrible, but if I was on the go, the drain would have been much faster.

Errrr....dude do you really believe Apple is purposely slowing down devices with software updates? Yes, they are cutting features that these devices could easily handle (Siri on the 4...) but it's not really how you are describing it.

On topic: How is battery life on the 6 with 9.1 compared to 8.4.1?

Apple most certainly slows down their devices with new OS versions, I thought this was obvious?

I installed 9.1 on my air 2 and surprisingly the millisecond lag on opening an app is there also. wish some other performance issues. Air 2 is very powerful so I'm assuming Apple is still optimizing iOS 9.

9.1 iPhone 6. Just updated from iOS 9 PB. I haven't done a clean install since iPhone 4. This is the first battery cycle in iOS 9.1. I think it is pretty good.

Out of curiosity, what are your top few used apps and how much time on screen for those?

It wouldn't matter too much. Because it shows the last 24 hours. When the phone hasn't charged since 37 hours. So the first 13 hours worth of battery draw wouldn't show up in the meters.
It should be possible to switch to the second tab that should be something like the last 2 days and see the usage times there.

I've moved from GM to 9.1 beta and noticed slight performance improvement. In general things are more fluid including opening and switching apps.

Poor battery life on an Air 1, when on 9.1, as it was on the public beta before that.
What I cannot fathom is exactly when it started. When I first signed up to public beta (July ish) I was getting excellent battery life. It was very good up to around a week ago (I was not keeping track of the updates!). I am sure that beta 3 (??) was good for a while then something happened to make it worse.
I did fill in the feed back report for both versions.

Safari and Home Screen are shown as the biggest users.

I have Reverted to 8.4.1 then re enrolled 9.1 but still the same although I restored all the software. I did not stay on 8.4.1 to see if there was a change.

Note:

I did an upgrade to iOS 9.1 PB from iOS 8.4.1 , no fresh install; skipped iOS 9 GM. I used it normally just like I used it on iOS 8.
I don't use Bluetooth so it's always off, and battery saving mode did turn on on 20%.

Top used are Tapatalk, Pulse, Safari, home and lock screen. I don't remember exactly what they all were. No Facebook, etc.
I'll try to drain the battery again in the next couple days and see what happens.
I did not turn on low power mode.

I'm getting fabulous results from 9.1 beta. Much better than the GM. My battery usage has stabilized and the overall performance is about the best I've seen yet on an IP 6. For those having battery issues, I suggest resetting all settings and then going in and turning off most of your app backround refresh. I also turned on reduce motion. The phone is much quicker at opening and closing apps now. I order a 6S so I'm anxious to know if they will push out a 9.x update shortly after it go out for sale. The GM was not a shinning example of a finished software release.

Yes. Batterylife is really good. iPhone 6 here, updated from 9.0 GM. I have 3,5h of usage, 6,5h of standby time and there are still 63% left. Before iOS 9.1 at this time I would be at 50% max if not less.

I installed the iOS 9.1 Public Beta on my iPad 3 and there is a noticeable improvement. I'm very happy about that.

Likewise.
Way much better than 9.0 GM. No more heat issues, smooth as silk. Keep it up Apple.

I really want to know how the heck you managed that. That's ridiculous battery life. Can you give a quick rundown of your settings?

I thought that is what it is supposed to be.

Background app refresh off

Location on "while using" for apps that I think need location, off for those that don't

All system services location off except find iPhone (seems to work fine that way)

Auto brightness on

Reduce motion off

Push mail, calendars, reminders, etc. on

Pretty much everything on in spotlight search

Bluetooth always on - for my FitBit

That battery usage screenshot was mostly on wifi, but at home and work I have wifi, so that's how I mostly use my phone.
I can't think of anything else relevant in settings that would make a difference. I have my battery % always off, I just turned that on for the picture (maybe that helps).

Improvement over iOS 8 ? Or just the 9.0 beta? I'm afraid to install the 9 beta or the full release. 8 is bad enough on the iPad 3 and I have heard that 9 is worse

I never tried the 9.0 beta. I went from iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 9.1 beta (which supposedly runs better than iOS 9.0).

There is a noticeable improvement over iOS 8. I mean, don't expect miracles, but scrolling is much better and Safari rendering speed is improved.
