Wow. You're so smart. You know what I did own that ran iOS 8? An iPhone 6. Next time, how about you try to understand what people are saying before spewing out insults. Oh, and performance has improved on the Air 2? Try rotating in the Spotlight pulldown. Great performance there...

This is all very subjective. My tolerance for lag is different from yours and so is my perception of fluidity and speed than others.
So arguing with one another is silly!
If someone feels it is still laggy, then it is laggy for them. Why try to convince them it is not just because you don't think it is?

Just downloaded the beta and I can see visibly no difference on my iPhone 6 and Air 2.Control Centre still stutters and I am now starting to doubt if it it will ever get fixed.Spotlight pulldown still has that split second freeze.Mobile data Menu still stutters while scrolling down the list of apps.Scrolling in apps still has this stutter like I am in Android Gingerbread era.
All in all,a pretty lacklustre update.

Reported for name calling.

Every new beta comes out and I'm delighted with joy that you guys haven't had your lag fixed once more. Apple is doing a great job. I love it.

Regarding 9.2.1 we can conclude that it's basically a quick fix release for enterprise MDM issues. That's because of the .x.1 release and being released one week after the 9.2 full build. They made this beta for sysadmins to test in their infrastructure and if it's ok, there'll be a 9.2.1 full release soon, or a .x.2 beta.

But I don't expect them to release 9.3 beta this year.

Here are your iOS 9 Metal performance gains in action :

Before any troll utters "it's a beta", this also occurs in 9.2 full stable release. On a 2015 flagship Apple device.

I can't believe this has't been posted about before..
Has anyone noticed this shameful INCOMPLETENESS of UI development, whereby the menu that pops up when we need to switch between audio devices in control center is STILL in the iOS 7/8 style RECTANGULAR UI?
I mean that should be one of the most embarrassing overlooking in the development of ANY UI. I mean how do you forget that?
I'm sorry about the rant, and I hope people won't start telling us it's a feature.

Respect

Guidelines: Show respect for your fellow posters. Expect and accept that other users may have strongly held opinions that differ from yours. In other words, basic human courtesy.

Rules:
  1. Name-calling. Name-calling falls into the category of insults and will be treated as such according to the forum rules, your own opinion about another member notwithstanding. You can't call a bigot a bigot, a troll a troll, or a fanboy a fanboy, any more than you can call an idiot an idiot. You can disagree with the content of another member's statement or give your evidence or opinion to dispute their claims, but you may not make a negative personal characterization about that member.
  2. Insults. Slurs and insults against groups of people based on negative-stereotyping and obvious generalizations fall into the category of trolling and will be treated as such.
  3. Taunting. Mocking or taunting another forum member is not acceptable. Posts that ridicule another member or obviously exaggerate or misstate their views may be removed.

Debate

Guidelines: Be willing to engage in fact-based, constructive debate. Look for ways to inform and learn from others.

Rules:
  1. Sources. If you claim that something's a fact, back it up with a source. If you can't produce evidence when someone asks you to cite your sources, we may remove your posts. If you started the thread, then we may remove or close the thread.
  2. Repetition. If you repeat the same claims without adding new information, we might remove your posts. Again, if you started the thread, then we may remove or close the thread.
  3. Trolling. Posts that appear to be designed to cause argument or irritate rather than contribute to a constructive discussion are considered trolling and will be treated as such.
  4. Duplicate discussions. If a new thread repeats a topic that has been previously discussed or debated, without basis for a separate discussion, the thread may be closed, removed, or merged into an earlier thread on the same topic. A news report on a previously discussed issue doesn't automatically deserve a new thread.

Siri sounds strange. Can't quite place the change...but something is definitely different in the tone. It sounds much more robotic and unnatural. Bizarre.
This happened to me on an earlier update. I think it downloads the more natural sounding voices later. I'll bet yours becomes more like you are accustomed to soon, if not already.

Why not prevent users from creating threads? Problem solved! This is not going to change until ignorant people take a step back and put themselves into others shoes and accept the fact other people do experience problems, and perceive things differently. Or better yet stop them from posting? And calling those who see lag everything but an idiot.

Why not prevent users from creating threads?
Because MacRumors is a discussion forum and if we prevent people from creating threads, it defeats the purpose of existing. If you don't like what they post, then please move on.

If you have an issue with people creating threads, please take that up with the admins via the https://forums.macrumors.com/misc/contact/ link. The moderators uphold the rules, we don't make the rules.

Mine does that on iOS 9.2 (release)

I'm on 9.2 and mine doesn't do that. iPhone 6, same wallpaper on lock and home screen, no Apple wallpaper.
I did it unlocking with touch id directly and with slee/wake button, the screen never went briefly black.

You completely misunderstood what I said. I have moved on to a better moderated site without uptight/ overly controlled/censoring mods/admins I use this forum only as a backup when I am bored. Just offering my two cents on how macrumors supports verbal abuse of those whom don't have Apple apologist mentality.

Installed on my 6s and Air 2, can definitely see some improvements. Animations are fast and no lag from what I can tell. Looks to be minor improvement from 9.2. Happy so far.

Nice, I'm happy you do notice an improvement. Maybe I'll cave in and install it on my 6S Plus today.

Yea I wouldn't hesitate if I were you. Steady improvement from 9.2 beta 4, although still some frame drops here and there. If Apple can't get this translucency issue fixed, I think they need to rethink iOS 10. It hasn't bothered me too badly, but I do notice it. Something similar to the changes they made from Yosemite to El Capitan (mission control as an example) is my hope.

It's not a BS, it's fact.

It's nonsense. Apple does a great job supporting older devices. Could their software be better? Absolutely. I am not a huge fan of how their software has been as of late, but I feel like it is a double edged sword. We want more advanced software, but we also want it to run on old hardware. I imagine that is a difficult task to manage.

Mini retina.
Stutters as on all places like 9.2.
Quite noticeable improvement speed on opening apps.
App switcher animation a hair smoother.
Screen less responsive?

--------------------------

Biggest improvement on this update on mini retina and 5s is:
Camera now open almost instantly compared to 2-3 second delay on 9.2, and apps open faster.

it's all in your head.
