I think this animated clock icon and CC problem is iPhone 5S-centric, my 6 does not do this. It drops frames a tiny bit on just about every page. Sometimes it doesn't drop any frames. Hmm. I even tried moving the clock icon down where cc would be covering it and still nothing.
Did you try to move the clock app in a folder, preferably on the second page of it. My 5s now has no stutter at all, whatever I do, it s silky smooth just like 8.4.1.

This is a prime example of the older device issue and people complaining about alleged "planned obsolescence."

You have all these tiny details, like the moving clock/lots of animation going on plus the OS, in newer OS versions and the older devices simply cannot handle them with the usual OS tasks from a processor or RAM standpoint.

There's only so much forward you can go without the old hardware holding you back. Hopefully Apple will be cutting out anything non-64 bit and the 5/5S line come this fall and the 7 as it will be 3 generations old.

I think the problem is that C DM and i7guy come flying in every iOS 9.x thread saying "my devices run without any issues, try a restore, iOS 9 is a lot better than iOS 8, your phone is defective, blabla". They restart the discussion every single time. How does it help the people with issues by saying that they are not experiencing any issues? That is not relevant information at all.
Perhaps if people actually read what I've been writing instead of assuming things that would be a start. That said, seems some of the people talking about lag jump into most threads that even remotely mention iOS 9 and derail the discussion talking about the same thing that has already been discussed dozens of times already and has nothing new to it. What is this thread about again? And what are we talking about now? Exactly.

How is the performance ? Does it lags like 9.2.1 ? Are the animations smooth ? Bcuz on 9.2.1 the anims are kinda laggy

If this were true, then EVERY user (even those with the newest device) should be sitting up and taking notice.

If the jump from iOS8 to iOS9 has caused even an iPhone 5S to lag due to a tiny animated clock, then you have to wonder how badly optimised and coded it is. Sure, you may not notice it on the latest device, but all Apple are doing are throwing better hardware at poor software (which covers up the lag, just as long as the new hardware can make up for the poor software). We are into Android territory where powerhouse phones are required to make up for Android's awful optimisation.

Everyone would benefit from optimisation in terms of the user experience/battery life/etc - there is literally no excuse a tiny animated clock can cause so much lag. What's more poignant is that there really isn't much difference between iOS8 and iOS9 in most areas. Just simply the homescreen is identical - swiping shouldn't cause any lag at all, just like with iOS8.

That's based upon the complete assumption that there is a way to offer the same feature set as iOS9 better optimized for lesser hardware. It may simply not be possible. Features, especially graphics, are very intensive and the old hardware simply may not be able to keep up; again only in some instances not every user because not everyone has the same other 50 processes running on their devices besides the moving clock. Ie. if person A has 2 apps in the background and nothing else running they may not see any slowdown from the animated clock vs. someone with 20 back-grounded apps and location running currently and a bunch of processor and graphic intensive other tasks. It would be very very rare for 2 people to see the same exact identical result.

Or it could simply be that the time and resources to do so is not worth the benefit to Apple as a company with a duty to its shareholders. Just like why doesn't my V8 car get 50mpg; well the tech is out there but cost effective is another story.

Everyone is more concerned about the me me me me versus the reality of the situation as a whole.

But this has nothing to do with specifically Beta 2 and rather another thread.

I'm unfortunately still stuck on PB 1, but had anyone else noticed in that version that they weren't receiving banner and sound notifications for texts when the phone is unlocked? I checked the beta 1 thread and didn't see mention of it, plus nobody seems to be responding to that thread anymore. If you did experience this problem, did beta 2 fix it? All my settings are as they should be.

DND isn't enabled by any chance, either globally or for some message conversations?

Guys I am very concerned about performance.Does the B2 lag more than B1?If so I refuse to upgrade because my CC is very smooth on B1

Anyone noticing the scheduled settings are overlapped? (from/to and the actual times) Both in the DND and now Nite Shift. DND has been that way since iOS 9.0 for me. I have reported it each build yet no change still (for me)

iOS 9 is finally at iOS 8.4.1 performance with this beta!

Seriously.

No lag in Control Center, Notification Center, or the App Switcher. Multi-layer blurs are now extremely smooth as well (check this by tapping AirDrop in Control Center and observe if frames are dropped as AirDrop settings appear). Tested this on iPhone 5s, all lag has been eradicated.

Absolutely pleased with this beta! :D

Im continuing on my daily driver with iOS 9.3 beta 1... On iPhone 6 plus is more stable than beta 2. I've tested since monday the beta 2, and it was driving me crazy because on beta 1 CC, scrolling and Multitasking was butter smooth (like the old good days), but in beta 2 was lagging in CC and NC. So, if you have a 6+ I advise you to wait for beta 3.

I've downgraded to iOS 9.2 this morning and updated to 9.3 public beta 1.1, because I just couldn't stand the dropped frames and lack of optimization (and let's be frank the bad looking icon for night shift on CC)...

Not really. On the iPhone 6 Plus the animation of NC and CC lags like hell, it's a PITA using it. I wonder why they break it as it's buttery smooth on beta 1.

It's the lack in optimization are largely done but the introduction of the Night Shift shortcut... but i'm very sad with it... The 6 + was a truly new phone on the first beta... Lucky that I could back to it in time...

Anyone knows which is the expiration date of each beta?

Huh, that's strange.

iOS 9 is really fast now and it is on par to 8.4.1 on my 5s at this point. I've been hearing that the 6 Plus has been having more noticeable lag (possibly due to the 1080p display) than other Metal-enabled devices such as the iPhone 6 or 5s.

Can you tap AirDrop on Control Center and check if you notice frame drops as the settings come up?

On beta 1 no, on beta 2 even scrolling on Facebook lags (and believe it was butter like in beta 1)
