Workaround solution found!

1. In settings/general/safari clear history and website data

2. In settings/general/safari switch off safari suggestions

Now I can follow all links

This did not work for me
[doublepost=1459070729][/doublepost]This is pretty crazy.

This is breaking pretty much 2 of the top most used apps in iOS and probably one of the most common interactions.

I tested a few different scenarios using Safari on my iPhone 6S.
  • Internal links (links to pages on the current page's domain) work without incident.
  • External links (links to pages outside of the current page's domain) do not work, in most cases. Nothing happens as they are tapped. However, I did find some exceptions — all of the external links on cnn.com are working for me.
  • Long tapping any link (internal or external) causes Safari to freeze. Home button still works and force-quitting will unfreeze Safari.
  • Hard pressing any link (internal or external) also causes Safari to freeze. There is no peek/pop action.

Very good analysis! Exactly this happens to me also.

I'm generally very very soft on complains, as i understand how tough it is to completely bug proof an app, let alone an OS.

But as of this morning both my iphone and ipad are useless: i'm shocked at how a bug this big could slip Q&A. I would assume the problem has risen with the daylight time switch of this morning, but reading here i understand this has been a long standing problem during betas.

Whatever the reason as of today i can't use my iphone and ipad, they're as good as bricks at the moment. Heck i can't even validate the email address sent in an email an app i'm testing has sent!

Embarassing for Apple.

I spoke with Apple support a moment ago. they are aware of the problem and will be releasing a fix for it. They couldn't give me a timescale. A restore as a new device sometimes solves the problem - but not always. Let's hope they get this fix out quickly.

So like I thought the Apple Support told me BS by saying this is a backend Apple problem.

You mean, there will be an iOS 9.3.1 update for this issue? Hopefully sooner than later...

Got this idea from the apple forum but the temporary workaround is this:

1. Using the spark email app for email(surprisingly good email app) and make it so it opens links either in chrome or in app.

2. Using chrome instead of safari

In chrome, if it helps, long press the link and choose open in new separator. Then go to separators list and the link appears open... This is no solution....

Just to know, do everyone use iCloud?
Maybe it's a backend problem that rise up when you restore something from iCloud.
I never used it on my 5s and no problem at the moment with 9.3
So you should try to disable icloud and restart the phone. Would be better restore the phone as new and disable immediatly icloud, making a backup with itunes first.
Just my opinion but would be great to know if is icloud related.

Of course not people! What is this? Voodoo Computing?

Keep your apps...

Simple removing application doesn't help.
Recover from last working backup or make clean installation and avoid installing these applications so far helping(14 hours and active using no issues)
[doublepost=1459075519][/doublepost]
Only app we have in common is booking, I'm going to delete the app and hard reset the phone. I'll post the results.

Edit: Nope, nothing to do with booking app

Simple removing applications doesn't help. Looks like they broken something on OS level (if it theory is true that mean iOS developers in trouble =) )

I did recovery from backup on my iPad Air 2 and not install these applications == so far 24 hours no issue

In case of iPhone 6s, I did clean installation and did not install those applications == so far 14 hours without issues

Update: after hard reset (clean installation) does links works?
I didn't say that some particular app is broking system but some set of applications or some specific combination. If clean Phone is working then make backup and add apps one by one to find your (+backup after avery successful attempt)

If clean iPhone have the same issue then my theory is wrong

Hi people.

I'm having the same issue on an iPhone 6. Switching off JavaScript seems to help for Google links, but some internal links are still borked. Contacted @AppleSupport on Twitter and they've arranged to call me back collect some information about the issue. They said they'd been getting reports about it.

Yes, switching off JavaScript gets Safari working for me too.

My iPhone 6 Plus has this problem but my iPad Air is fine. Probably just coincidence but my iPhone had issues as soon as its iCloud backup finished. My Air has not been backed up for 2 days.

What keeps me thinking that is has to do with the
"safari safe browsing data" process after you sync your device with iTunes or iCloud.

I believe someone introduced some kind of missbehaving filter (regular expression for example which goes crazy)

Since I use iOS 9.3 (I was a public beta tester), in some betas links were not clickable in safari anymore. Beta 4 wasn't working, beta 5 was fine and now since beta 6 the problem got back.

Problem mostly exist when I try to google something from the search bar in safari. When I then try to click on a search result, safari dont respond and start to freeze. Then the app is closing and when I try it again, it freezes again.

I hoped on a solution with the official release of 9.3, however its still present. Its super annoying and I can't find a solution.

I already tried to delete data from safari and also did a hard reset.

Also problem seems to exist in Chrome and whatsapp as well (when someone sends me a link).

Who knows a solution?
[doublepost=1459078513][/doublepost]I have similar problem with 9.21 and upgraded to 9.3 and still having the same problem on 6s plus

I can click any link in any given app and I have no problems. iPhone 6s updated via iTunes. So it seems not every device has this problem.
