had the problem on my ipad (air 2, 128gb) since yesterday in the afternoon, on the iphone (5s, 32gb) since this morning. seems somehow related to universal links lookup (i noticed that direct links to the app store worked, while all links to domains other than the one the page was loaded from didn't -> once the system looks for an application that serves the linked domain, safari/webkit-app crashes).

solved it on the iphone (for me and for the moment at least), for me the last updated app supporting universal links was imdb, so after deleting that and restarting the iphone and the ipad everything worked again, so i'd presume it's got something to do with the way apps register themselves for supporting universal links on updating/installing. sadly, that didn't help at all on the ipad...

Makes no difference to me. Broken in all browsers, email links. iPad and iPhone is totally borked for me.

If you switch to Bing as default browser in Safari settings, and _then_ restart your phone, you should be able to open links with a single touch. That much has seemed consistent as far as I can tell, though it is slim consolation.

My best guess is that this is related to an iOS API that is meant to handle Peek and Pop on links supported by 3D Touch enabled devices. This does not mean that this is limited to devices supporting 3D touch but affects everyone since it appears to be a weird bug.

Good thing is that reports say that apple is aware of the issue and working on a fix. Its weird that after rock solid 7 betas on iOS 9.3 this came about after the public release.

Started happening to me today, really weird I make a search of either DuckDuckGo or google but can't click any results... It just hangs safari. :/

Going to wash my car and then I'll post a video of the issue happening.

I have 9.2.1 on my iPad Air for a while and did not have any problems till yesterday...
Yesterday I decided to update to 9.3. I started the update, got the license confirmation dialog but after this I was not able to continue because of an error I got; 'the firmware could not be checked because no internet connection was available'. However I had an active internet connection.
I removed the firmware file from the iPad and went to the check firmware version. It said 'Your version 9.2.1 is up to date'. I'v read on Internet Apple has removed the 9.3 update...

But since trying to update the firmware I also have these issues like Freezing Email when clicking on a link.
My iPhone 5S with 9.2.1 is still working fine. I did not attempt to update the firmware on the iPhone.

So it looks like the attempt to update the firmware alone is enough to introduce these issues.....

Martin.

My default search is DuckDuckGo and I don't have any issues. Is it because I don't have any apps that format a universal search URL?

What the hell do you beta testers even do? After 7-8 betas, you seriously didn't notice and report this issue until the GM released?

Apple and its beta testers are clowns.

It's not necessarily a 9.3 bug considering people with 9.2.1 have reported the issue. I had every public beta and never had this problem.

I don't have the issue on my iPhone or iPad and neither do my wife or daughter: I wonder if it's either related to a particular app that's breaking the URL resolution or a specific content blocker

Restarted safari and everything is working for me again.
Good luck.

I just got this message from Apple Support on twitter

"Thank you for providing us with those details. We’ve heard reports of the issue and it’s currently under review. We don’t have a solution at this time but we’d like to get your case to a Senior Advisor so they can collect some data to assist with the investigation. To get started we’d just need to gather your name, email, phone number, time zone, and the best time to reach you. We can set up a callback to have an advisor contact you directly."

I'll post updates.

I have a few Apple devices updated to iOS 9.3. iPhone 6S, iPad 4 behave normally, but links on iPad Air 2 do not work. Strange.

Starting today my iPhone 6S joined the club of malfunctioning links, all of a sudden. Funny. My son's iPhone 6 with iOS 9.3 still does not have this problem.

Made no difference for me.

Btw my iPad has no issues, also on 9.3.

For some very strange reason, I think since I updated to 9.3 on my iPhone 6 plus, safari isn't working-class and also Mail. It's freezing, bb8 it responding after opening an email.

In fact this is strange, any link I'm clicking from any apps is doing the same...as in not linking as and then freezing the app? What is going on?

For example, I open it, do a Google, comes back with links, but then I click on a link and it won't do anything, the links just wont click, then it sort of freezes and won't let me scroll up/down. It's really frustrating.

I've quit the app, restarted iPhone, cleared all cache, website data etc, but same. Is this to do with iOS 9.3? Just me?

It was working fine before. I have 7Gb free space, can't think of anything else to do.

I'll add my maxiPad to the list of broken hardware. Did the 9.3 update yesterday and links in the search pages (Google and Bing) are now broken. Can't even bring up the contextual menu to try and open in another tab. QC has just gone from Apple products. Very sad to hear that this has been a problem all through the alpha/beta yet it still made it in to the release version.
