In settings of Safari change the search engine from Google to any other like yahoo or bling.

Install Google now app.
It's not a solution. Just a workaround.

I'm using DuckDuckGo as a default search engine. Still Safari sometimes gets stuck when just browsing or trying to load the links in ... iPhone manual from the default set of Safari bookmarks. iPhone 6S+ updated to 9.3 straight from 9.2.1, didn't install any betas.

I would rather believe it's something wrong with shared web credentials daemon or WebKit's javascript handling as people suggested above. I believe all the mobile browsers in iOS are required to share the same engine as per Apple's policy, even Firefox, therefore just changing a browser will not help.

Not going to disable javascript or web credentials storage for now, as the problem hits my browser only from time to time, and I don't browse that much on the phone anyway. Neither tried to open any links from Mail.

Same issue here, since yesterday. I don't remember I think I was trying to open some video in Safari and CRASH!
I've tried:
1) Clear Webdata
2) Clear History & Webdata
3) Soft Reset in iOS
4) Unable Javascript
Waiting for solution...

why some users don't experience this bug ?
My 5s works so great with 9.3, no issue at all with safari.

Guys, I am experiencing the same problem on my iPhone 6 128gb. I was experiencing this since yesterday before I upgraded to 9.3. I upgraded to 9.3 hoping to restore functionality, but it did not work.

I experience the same issue in Chrome.

I've tried clearing website data and history and doing a hard reset. Issue still persists.

A user linked me to this thread since I had not seen it, but here is where I posted my original problem: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/link-clicks-not-working-on-iphone-6.1963737/#post-22721031 I am following this thread now.

From my experience since uploading iOS9.3, iOS 9.3 has effectively disabled Safari as web browser -or what we mean as one in the 21st Century. If you cannot directly input the web address you cannot see the page. Search engines are meaningless. Clearing the cache does not fix it. Disabling suggestions does not fix it. Disabling Javascript does not fix it. Periodically resetting the iPhone does not fix it (and why should I have to force reset the iPhone to make the web browser work ANYWAY).
In addition, the same is for any other browser loaded on the iPhone, and any links within Apps on the iPhone. The issue is much larger than Safari links.
Apple - fix this at once or Android will see us shifting in droves

Exact same situation for me. 9.2.1, no Betas and this started happening. Upgraded trying to fix the issue only to find it persists. So annoying.

Hey! I've got exactly the same problem!! I also tried everything. When i set my iphone as "new" with default settings, it works for a while and sudenly this issue appear again!! I need to fix it, really annoying

So many people with the issue, still no news on any of big Apple news sites. Media should make news so Apple will feel pressure and maybe at least say something.

I have the same issue since updating to 9.3. Tapping and holding on a link of any kind freezes Safari.

Have been told by Apple support to reinstall 9.3 and restore from backup. Will post if this resolves the issue.

Don't waste your time, I tried it and it doesn't work.

If you restore as a new iphone you're good for some time. (Maybe hours maybe days) But it happens again.

If you restore from a backup, it's still there nothing happens. It will be a waste of time.

Disaster... It doesn't work. Apple should give us a solution now. I have iPhone 6S 64gb, updated via OTA from 9.1.

Having the same problem with my iPad Air 2 however Photon works perfectly, only thing that does.

Monoculture is a problem for iOS. Maybe if Apple didn't force ALL ios web browsers to be the same (they are just skins for Safari), this wouldn't be a big problem cause affected people could use a different web browser instead of Safari.

this problem doesn't only happen inside safari, happens to news links in stock apps, links in instagram, etc. basically crashes every app there is with a clickable link. hope apple fixes it soon.

I have the same problem with my I6+ and the 9.3 update.
I backed up my phone and restored . After the restore ( still on 9.3) everything was working perfectly with Safari.
Once I loaded my backup - exactly the same issue as before... just my 10 cents worth,

It's almost as if some setting or perhaps even some account if not even another app are causing some weird conflict.
[doublepost=1459013706][/doublepost]Sort of a similar issue mentioned at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/5c-safari-slow-after-9-3-update.1962872/ where the resultion somehow turned out to be getting rid of some other app.

[doublepost=1459014867][/doublepost]I have ip 6 (16gb) and i havent upgraded to 9.3 yet however same problem started today. Has anyone else clicked at free follower link over instagram posts ? I am not sure what caused it but normally i never click those things but today i clicked somehow. I changed search engine to Bing and i can click on results now. For text links, i copy and paste as website address, otherwise it freezes again. Apple should fix this thing immediately or this will be my last i phone.

If you search twitter for "9.3 Safari" there are TONS of people who have this same issue.

What do we have to do to get the popular news sites reporting this issue so it's pressure Apple to fix now?

But but but but... I thought iOS 9 was the best and most stable release of iOS ever?

Joking aside... I haven't run into this issue, but the recent facebook changes are annoying because you can't open links in a new window anymore. Sometimes I just wanna save an image without re-loading the entire news feed, so I open the image in a new window, save it, and close the window to continue browsing, but it's no longer possible to tap and hold on a link on facebook.com anymore.

Looks like I can reproduce an issue
Apps that I installed to reproduce iOS issue:
* Booking
* Telegram
* Outlook
* Google maps
* lufthansa
* JetRadar

Still investigating ...
