Usually I would agree with you for features such as Siri where the noise isolating microphone was not present on the 3Gs or TouchID where the fingerprint reader was not present on the iPhone 5 however the features in discussion here have no need for new hardware to exist.

That's a bad comparison. Obviously the 5 isn't going to support it without a fingerprint sensor or secure element. We saw the Siri worked on old iPhones through jailbreak tweaks.

Again, another fairly major feature. There's too many minor things in iOS 9 for Apple to go create a a chart with what is supported on which devices. There's a thread at the top of the forum with all of that info. What difference does it make if Apple says it or a forum user says it?
If you consider slow motion video a major feature, then transit directions should be as well. The compatibility thread makes no mention about transit directions. And as for your last question, you're not serious right? What's the difference between a random person on a forum making comments vs Apple making official statements?

Apple has no obligation to announce specifically which devices will support what, however they did so with some of the new features like the new multitasking. Again, why does it matter if Apple tells you which features will work on which devices as opposed to you figuring it out yourself? Is Apple making an official statement gonna make older devices faster or something? If it doesn't support it, it doesn't support ands that's that. Who cares if Apple tells you that or not...you'll likely figure it out anyway. The official release changelog will probably say something with regards to this anyway.

Does anyone know if the large menu buttons (such as Safaris share sheet cancel button - it's larger than the same button on iOS 8.4) are a bug or are they here to stay?

If it's something everyone is seeing, it's not likely we'd really know until the final version of iOS 9 comes out, and even then it could still be something that is a bug and just hasn't gotten addressed.

Not sure if posted yet but it's missing on main news page:

WiFi Calling for AT&T - Beta 5 adds WiFi calling options for AT&T subscribers, but attempting to turn the option on results in a message saying WiFi calling is not yet available. The addition of the setting heralds the imminent release of the feature for AT&T users. Previously, WiFi calling was limited to T-Mobile and Sprint. There's also a new WiFi Assist feature that will "automatically use cellular data when Wi-Fi connectivity is poor."

wificalling-800x485.jpg

Sprint WiFi calling was available in Beta 4 (required a carrier update after acknowledging terms and disclaimers) but now the other devices section now works as well in beta 5 whereas in beta 4 the allow on other devices was unavailable telling you to contact your provider.

Seen that every news publication missed this.

That is a fair comment however whether my example was adequate does not affect the point I am making. I guess you agreeing with me anyway since you are pointing out that these software features were only left out to encourage the user to upgrade. Which brings us back to the transit features etc which have been left out of the iOS9 present on the A5 devices.

If you aren't agreeing with me then I'm not too sure what your stance is but thank you for adding to my stance.

You should mention that the integration of third party keyboards is fixed within this beta. No more lags on load - working perfect with the newest SwiftKey-beta!

yes, only they seem to have changed the api - telegram is not finding 3rd party keyboard after loch/unlock

Grey text message area when opening messages is gone. Much more fluent opening apps. Haven't had respring issues yet like I did on DB 4.

Could have to do with a number of factors with one being battery life. Maybe the A5 isn't efficient enough to manage the background tasks of the Siri suggestions / Proactive stuff, etc. It's not necessarily a way to get people to upgrade. I wouldn't upgrade to a new phone just to get Siri suggestions or transit directions (many apps do transit stuff).

I have this problem too. I wonder what I'm going to have to do? Just wait and see if it gives me the space back eventually. I have 2.9 available out of 5gb with absolutely nothing saved on iCloud. So I know it has to have been an iOS 9 backup.
It was from a iOS9 Backup. Apple Dev Relations says that early 9 Betas created these very large backups that are hidden. They are corrupt and will not restore. Unfortunately we can't see them and Apple does not have the required permissions to delete them, so I am not sure if we will ever get that space back again. Maybe after GA they will decide to fix this or maybe not.

If you have devices that were backed up using B1 or B2 or B3, and are now running Beta 4 or 5, Delete the backup and immediately do a manual backup. You will replace your large backup with one of the normal correct size.

Within Maps, when you click on a landmark, there is now a wiki description.

As you can see there is quite a difference between iOS 8.4 and iOS 9.0 beta 5. Look at the padding between the share sheet icons and the size of the cancel button; they're farther apart of iOS 9 and the button are larger.

That red wallpaper on a black iPhone is perfection.

But iTunes is telling me my last iCloud backups were on 7/1/1910 on every device with Beta 5. iCloud backups aren't fixed, either. Maybe for some, but my account still has 700 MB missing since Beta 1.

They're ever so slightly farther apart but you see the same amount of icons in both. The new Cancel button seems to be a design choice. It's all over the system.

All you lucky people in the US with wifi calling. My carrier (Rogers) here in Canada "claimed" they were going to add it back when iOS 8.0 came out. Well...here we are with iOS 9 around the corner and they still haven't added it. /sigh
Rogers eww, worst carrier ever!
