Nice find on the grey background for iBooks while reading. I love it already. Never was a fan of the white on black, too much contrast. The sepia was good but could still be a bit too bright in low light. Really like the grey.

I installed Beta 5 on my 6+ and it runs smooth overall. The multitasking animations are a bit choppy but otherwise its fine. We'll see how the battery life goes.

Music is MUCH better. Previously, even in 8.4, downloading songs was a disaster. If you had over a couple hundred songs going, it would lock up and take hours to finish. It was like every song was pinging to see if it could download and it bottlenecked everything. I've been testing the latest beta and downloads work as expected.

Edit: Also, the Music app doesn't cause the whole system to lag when the next song starts. Nice.
That's a comfort. A pity we have to wait another 5 weeks though. Was hoping for the lag to be fixed in 8.4.1

I get automatic downloads options blocked in settings, anyone else?

Answer's in your screen shot it seems ;) "Automatic downloads are not available while in Low Power Mode" :)

There was never to be a special build for older devices but faster performance IS 9's flagship feature and I call BS. No subsequent full-number version was ever faster than the previous and I just don't see any improvements over 8.4 even on Air 2. I know it's a beta things don't change much this late in the game.
Even if they are pessimist views, they are all true.

I think they added a delay to "slide to unlock" from showing up initially, and moved it lower down? or maybe I didn't notice it before cause I definitely notice it now.

The search bar in settings now just says "settings". I reported it for says "Search Settings" because all the other search bars just says search but now it's even worse than before.

It has a little magnifying glass next to it though to imply "search"
True but it's very inconsistent with the rest of the OS. But you could argue that the settings app doesn't need to be labeled settings because the gears imply that it's settings. That would make it look odd next to all the other apps though wouldn't it? Ya feel me? Because I'm not entirely sure this post makes any sense.

spotlight now displays music song rating (also, songs start playing a lot faster than beta 4)

Hi,

Has there been any statement from Apple about the search panel and iCloud Drive ? I noticed it can find any file thatt I have in iCloud Drive, but tapping on the file name only gave me options to copy it to another app. No way, so far, to just open it in iCloud Drive. This is very frustrating. Why would I want to copy a pdf file to another app for example ?

Here are 3 screenshots as an example with the option given when tapping the file. Then the full list for the first row of activities and... the emptiness of the second row you have when tapping "more".

And the worst part.. the "search" field inside iCloud Drive can only find files/folders from the level you are looking at... not inside the subfolders or the entire Drive.

Strange isn't it ?

E.

I'm on public beta 3 an noticed this in the last public beta too.

If I clear all the recent apps in the multitasking bar and restart the device, all the cleared apps are back again. Anyone else have this issue? This is on an iPad mini 2.

Battery iPhone 6 beta 5 unplugged from charge long to 100% seem to be loosing 1% every few minutes currently down to 83% with 26mins usage. Not looking good this one. Photo was taken before and photo taken now within 20mins of each other
Battery seems fine on my iPhone 6. Though it can vary beta to beta.

Working for me. In the previous beta when trying to clear all mail notifications, they would just reappear after they had cleared. Now they go and stay gone.

Seems like that question was about apps (vs. notifications).

I now can't find any apps in spotlight. Contacts work just fine, can't pull up ANY apps. Was working fine previously.

Are you sure, that's never happened before and I've been running every beta of iOS 9 and plug in my headphones daily. I'm referring to the auto-powering of the screen when you plug in your headphones, not the Music icon showing when you plug in the headphone. I'm almost definitely sure the screen powering on connection is new to Beta 5.
Was definitely in the previous beta. On my 6 it loads Spotify so it's not just limited to the music app.

How is Bluetooth with the new beta? With the previous one my bluetooth range dropped dramatically. Any sign of improvement?

Thanks.

All you lucky people in the US with wifi calling. My carrier (Rogers) here in Canada "claimed" they were going to add it back when iOS 8.0 came out. Well...here we are with iOS 9 around the corner and they still haven't added it. /sigh

Well here in France they don't even talk about it :(

Same thing just happened to me on iOS 8.4 as well. Guess it's not just an iOS 9 bug.
