Are you on the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus? You might not be having the error due to it having 1 GB of RAM (and therefore, double the available execution area of older iDevices). On older devices (with 512 MB of RAM), the available execution area is much tinier, and so the tab crashes due to an OOM situation. At least I can be thankful it doesn't take the whole browser down with it, though.
I have an iPhone 6 Plus

Well, going by historical data, and knowing the date of the event coming up on Sept 9, I'd venture to guess we should get the GM by Monday or Tuesday of next week.... so I'm thinking Tuesday Sept 1.

This all hinges on Apple releasing it to the public on the date of the event though...

Reason being is that if you look at the historical data for x.0 releases, all the "final" beta's are only out for roughly 8 days which, I'm assuming, means the amount of days before a full public release. Also, you'll note the comment on that link which says:
  • GM releases are treated as betas, so a GM after "beta 4" will be shown as "beta 5". Once the GM is released and final release date known, the chart shows the total days up to final release, even if it is in the future.

So... if I have to put my best guess on a release date for iOS 9 GM, I'd say Tuesday, Sept 1.

Don't quote me on that but that's my best guess.

-------------------------

EDIT:

I take all of this back haha... looking back on the history of when they've held events in September of years past, it seems like they release GM to developers on the date of the events instead.

I love how everyone forgets every September how it goes. Final beta one month before event. Event happens, GM drops after event. Public release one week later.

They won't release the GM before the event. It's quite simple. It's so that any new features aren't revealed before actually revealing the new iPhones. As an example, iOS 9 GM might have Force Touch settings.

Like a lot of options in iOS/OS X you only see them if the device is compatible. Since no one has a 6s or 6s+, no one would even see the force touch options anyways. (OS X doesn't show force touch options on MacBooks that do not have force touch.)

However, you're still right. They don't want 100% of everything known before the event. Even though today it was somewhat leaked, a good example is those new animated lock screen wallpapers. Those have not been in a single beta build yet.

The new features and support for those new features are still in the code for the older devices, it's just that they're not visible to the user. There is Force Touch code in the current iOS 9 beta I believe....

Oh, I know the code is still there. It kinda has to be. But you only see certain options based on compatibility of the device. I was more just pointing out that FT wasn't a great example, because the code has already been in there since DP 1 (I believe there was a front page article long ago about it.)

But other things like the new motion wallpapers have not. And don't want people to see those until they unveil them.

You just answered your own question in regard to the animated wallpapers. They'll be exclusive to the new iPhones so no-one would have seen settings for them either!

Either way, I'm hyped for the new iPhones; 2GB of RAM, Force Touch, 4K recording, new chip and more!!

It has come out that the new iPad pro will come out running 9.1 so they need to get that up and running so my guess is the beta's will flow quickly so do not dismiss the 9.1 so quickly. :)

I'm not dismissing 9.1. I'm just saying 9.1 betas won't be released before 9.0 is public. That's what I was referring to. Obviously there will be 9.1 at some point.

I believe (memory is not perfect) they did release 8.3 before 8.2 dropped.....

Read my post again. I'm not referring to x.3 updates. I'm referring to x.1 betas being released before x.0 goes public which has never happened. I know 8.3 beta 1 was released before 8.2 went public, but i'm not talking about that.

Haha, yes, I suppose you're right about the wallpapers! I didn't see initially that they could be exclusive to the "s".

There is another thread going and a lot of recent things really seem to point towards a new screen itself in the "s". Power reasons wouldn't explain motion wallpapers being exclusive (because the watch does it with power equal to a 4s.) The only other explanation would be to showcase the quality of a new screen (mLED or OLED.) Also the code found to use the screen as a front facing flash (which no current device has been able to utilize in any of the betas.)

9.0 has gone GM and it is being burned on to the new "S" iPhones. Public release is being held up till the Sept event.

time will tell if Apple releases the 9.1 to developers before the public 9.0 drops. They will only do it if they feel the Developers need it out for developers to test their apps on it.

I seriously doubt we'll see OLED screen this year but you never know! That'll be for the iPhone 7 I think.

Sorry, but it won't happen. Never has. Apple will have a separate event for the iPad Pro and they'll probably announce 9.1 then. They could also release 9.1 beta 1 right after 9.0 is public like they did last year.

kind of annoying that the animated wallpapers are exclusive to the 6s...
like what....

it's the whole 'no siri on the iphone 4' thing all over again.
Well they need something to get people to upgrade.
It's not like they are gonna mention the 2GB RAM because they don't want to hurt the feelings of apple apologists who claim 1GB is enough.
