I don't think I'd dump an entire platform/ecosystem because of some UI lag.

Lag isn't a problem with ANY modern mobile OS (iOS , Windows or Android) ...Let's be honest with ourselves. Lag isn't the problem with the S6, an example of a modern Android smartphone.
just shocking how a tech savvy user would even consider the idea of using a product designed in china and running a Google's operative system ....Just shocking tech geeks, like the cool people that come on this forum site, would still even want an iPhone anymore ? Why ? To me iOS 9 just blows, as did ioS 8,7,6, etc... Yeah iOS was cool the first few generations when Android was very rough and unpolished still, but today with an amazing device like the Nexus 6P running Android 6.0.1, there's no comparison.
I admit Apple designs and builds a very high quality phone, with amazing hardware, awesome battery life ( Plus version only ) and a beautiful phone design, but iOS needs a MAJOR OVERHAUL if I were to ever come back.
it's funny to read something like that from someone that keep in signature some thousands dollars of iOS based devices.iOS 9 and 8 just went to prove apple could release any old crap and people will still buy it..
if you want a real experience of iPhone usage, stay away from this forums...You know the funny thing was I was considering switching over to iOS for the very first time. I live in South Africa and we have a 2 year upgrade cycle so you have to sort of live with your choice for that 2 years.
I have been an Android user from the first T-Mobile G1 and HTC Desire to the Xperia Z2 which was an awesome phone until it got stolen (perks of living in SA) and I had to pull out my S3 again as a backup. But that phone reminds me all day of the lag that comes along with Android devices. So my train of thought was to see what the fuss is all about when it comes to iOS.
Honestly after reading these forums and other forums as well about the issues that people are having with their iPhones I dont know if I want to go down this route any more. I do have a MBP and a iPad but I dont want to be exchanging 2 or 3 phones to get something that should be working flawlessly out of the box.
With MWC right around the corner and the potential of a new LG G5 and to see what Samsung comes out with its hard to ignore the fact that the iPhone is not the best smartphone on the market any more. My S3 is going to meet a wall pretty soon and I can upgrade 1st of Jan so it might be hard to hold out to somewhere in April/March for the next gen Androids to come out.

half (and I'm being optimistic) of the reported issues are plain false, or just complaining from extremely picky users at best.
there are genuine issues reported, for sure, but that's normal on such a forum where people sign up seeking for help and advices.
iPhones are fantastic products, and you'll find defective units on every other vendors' phone (and probably a far worst customer service).
Agree. It's down to user preference and it always have been...Thanks for that. I am aware of the fact that you will see far more negative posts on a forum because that is where people who have issues have come for advise and see if there are similar users with the same issues. What I was trying to say is that Apple does not have that big a edge over android anymore. The user experience and fluidness of the OS on both platforms are beginning to come close to perfect for both.
Its just boils down to user preference more and more. iPhone isnt that great what it used to be and Android isnt a lumpy pile of lag it used to be. Its great that we have a choice now a days. Its just causing a headache choosing as they say you dont get a crap motorcycle anymore only a crap rider.
You are a fine example of that, right? I mean you own more iOS devices then I do.iOS 9 and 8 just went to prove apple could release any old crap and people will still buy it..

Android's problems are far worse than lag ....

Always. ?. So you have information on the future coding practices that Google will be using. .Android will always have more lag and stutter than iOS imo
much faster? Are talking about milliseconds here...My wife (only one in family not on iPhone) just got a Galaxy 6 with latest software, etc. My 6s is much faster, long battery life, easier to use etc. than her phone. I think she regrets as I would. iPhone is much, much better
If we're talking milliseconds than the "superior" design video and camera of the s6 is only marginal at best.M

When you say much better, Is that ignoring the superior design, screen, video and camera. .of the s6
The top end Androids never lag. Those crap low end phones give Android a bad name.Take any high quality hardware like the Note 5,the S6 Edge and they actually beat the iPhone in various aspects.Android runs smooth as butter on these devicesLet's be honest with ourselves. Lag isn't the problem with the S6, an example of a modern Android smartphone.
lol.I own all 3 and they all developed lag after a certain time period.Nexus 5 does stutter at the Widgets screen and in scrolling certain apps although its past 2 years old now so thats a given.Windows 10 Mobile still has the "loading" screen after tapping on settings.iOS surprised me the most because the other 2 devices developed lag after a 2 year time frame but iOS did so in 1 YEAR.Not to mention these stutters occur repeatedly in the same spots as if deliberately coded in.The Android and W10 stutters are more random and unpredictableLag isn't a problem with ANY modern mobile OS (iOS , Windows or Android) ...

And why is a Chinese phone bad?APart from your own bias against them you still have yet to state why people should not like them. The Nexus 6P is a Chinese phone and earning rave revie reviews even amongst criticsjust shocking how a tech savvy user would even consider the idea of using a product designed in china and running a Google's operative system ....
it works both ways
I not only own 3 iOS devices but also a MBA and the Mac Mini which Apple also screwed over by introducing stuttery animations in El Cap.I am not a fanboy though.I call out facts as they appearit's funny to read something like that from someone that keep in signature some thousands dollars of iOS based devices.

Apple is a master of planned obsolescence. If you can tolerate the minor quirks they put in go for it.Otherwise many Android phones like the S6 and especially the Nexus 6P rival the iPhone in many ways. Also Huawei and Samsung are not combined hardware/software companies unlike Apple and as the software is coded by someone unrelated to the phone hardware the chances of planned obsolescence is even less.Samsung has gone a long way since since the S3 days.Touchwiz is not nearly as bad as it used to be.You know the funny thing was I was considering switching over to iOS for the very first time. I live in South Africa and we have a 2 year upgrade cycle so you have to sort of live with your choice for that 2 years.

You must be joking if you feel those top end benchmark nuumbers the A9 puts out offer near as much utlity in practical usage as the mesmerising 2K AMOLED of AndroidsIf we're talking milliseconds than the "superior" design video and camera of the s6 is only marginal at best.
I don't know. Anandtech gave it a gold award, must be something to the phone. Don't care about biased reviewers. The A9 completes tasks some milliseconds faster than the the Exynos inside the S6.While the S6 has a 2K AMOLED screen already noted to be the best display on the market even by Anandtech compared to the 720P of the iPhone. So which would enhance the user experience more?I don't know. Anandtech gave it a gold award, must be something to the phone. And no I'm not joking.
Incoherency, fragmentation, messy update releases, inherently insecurity.....Like?
As I said, very credible....So i clearly know what I'm talking about and have every right to criticise then as a consumer of the technology and devices...
Superior design ? Are we still speaking about a Samsung phone ? Lol...M

You're comparing a cpu to a screen and that's why one is better. Seems like a bit (nay a lot) of bias there as well. You can take up your bias with the magazine I guess they are the only Internet publications that are biased. The ones that like the s6 are truthful and independent.Don't care about biased reviewers. The A9 completes tasks some milliseconds faster than the the Exynos inside the S6.While the S6 has a 2K AMOLED screen already noted to be the best display on the market even by Anandtech compared to the 720P of the iPhone. So which would enhance the user experience more?
