I don't use iCloud backup cause 1 I don't want to pay for storage and 2 it doesn't backup apps and data. iTunes backups are just easier for me

okay guyz calm down. i have my icloud backup. i thought you guyz have that as well. thats why i asked 
I run iCloud backup nightly. (well it does it automatically) I just do the iTunes backups when playing with beta releases because I like the extra level of just in case.
Love the ease of iCloud backup. Good thing the apps are not backed up, they can be large and would count against your storage space. The app data is included in the backup. You could at a minimum run the backup with a few things excluded like photos and at least have that within your free space. I purchase extra room anyhow for iCloud Photos so I have backup space.

Anyone know if there is a limit to how many people can sign up for the public beta? Just curious
I use iCloud backup alongside iTunes backup but iCloud backup absolutely annoys me because it takes around 5 hours to backup. My music and photos are not backed up because I used iCloud Photo Library and iCloud Music Library (iTunes Match).
I keep my iCloud backups because I like to restore to iCloud backups once in a while because it is "cleaner" than iTunes backup. Also I don't always plug my iPhone to my Mac.
It's limited to the first 71,493 people.
Lolololol. In all seriousness, I don't think there is a limit. Not one that Apple said at least.

If its like the 8.3 and 8.4 you will need to load the beta profile on your devices then through settings check for an update.
