True, I guess some of the other GUI and/or software changes justify the dot release. I wonder what tips it over exactly?
Not sure what exact definitions Apple uses, but new features of some sort would usually qualify. The main thing with iOS 8.3 is that based on the release notes it was way way more than new emojis (which were only mentioned quite a ways down the list of many other items that are in the update).

Okay, I have an idea for a feature. Let's call it "app restore". It's a feature where you can restore an individual app and its data from the cloud. Say I get a new phone or need to wipe my current one. I can restore Facebook, so it has my password and all relevant data so I don't have to set it up again.

How's that?

Well, logging in is one thing, but what other relevant data isn't there for Facebook once you login?

Great idea. This would work well for games. Like, last year after a iOS 6 restore on my 4S[To get rid of my iOS 7 update], my 200+ hour racing game would not download and, I lost all of its data:(! A feature like this would be great because, a backup would be of each individual game and, not your entire iOS!

This should be a iTunes feature :p [iTunes 12 is a mess]

Some semblance of text editing. Right now it's a pain to edit text written in imessage or and of the default apps. How about putting in some arrow keys on the virtual keyboard so you can move your cursor around and edit without needing to resort to simply re-typing everything out again as you can't simply back up and change or edit some letters.

This! I've been asking and hoping for this for years! So frikkin' annoying when I see I misspelled words, and instead of being able to backspace my way through the word and correct the extra or misspelled letter, I have to delete the entire word and re-type. Such a bitch.
Backspace arrow key! Too damn easy to integrate, just make it happen.

Why not press your finger on the word and scroll to edit as usual?
The 6+ does have cursor arrow keys on the landscape keyboard.

Any place but here or there....
A relatively bug free launch

Email that works out of the gate (being able to access all sub folders etc.)

Ability to delete unused / unwanted apps (I have more unused apps than used.)

Background App Refresh and many other settings turned off on default

Auto-Brightness that works (my iPhone 6 became darker as less light filtered into my room)

iOS 9 idea: Glances

An idea just occurred to me tonight. You know how you swipe to left on the lock screen to unlock your phone? It would be cool if swiping to the right would bring you to widget-type glances, similar to Apple Watch. You could swipe up and down to switch between glances and swipe back to the left to get back to the normal home screen. This is a no brainier to me.

Edit: Yes, I know Notification Center already has widgets, but I'm talking about something more some substantial like live app previews.

I would like to add new feature like for example on the locked screen you can see preview email message you can click to take trash or close to keep it.

Cuz I have so many junk emails on the locked screen I had to unlock by Touch Id then open Mail app and you can slide right to delete it.

1. Would be nice to have the option for a Dark system theme alongside the existing.

2. No introduction to new software technology updates midway thru the life-cycle of iOS9 (ie iWatch on iOS8) , leaving valuable time to fix all the bugs before moving onto iOSX and introducing future tech.

3. Better functional stock music player.

YES Dark mode!

The iPhone 4s will be four years old by then, time for a new phone I think.

Not to those who are buying one brand-new from any carrier and for whom it is their first iPhone, or an upgrade from a 4.

To them: its a brand-new phone and should be supported with software updates for at least a year or two after purchase.

Feature Request: F.LUX support without having to jailbreak.

While I agree, the 4S hasn't been sold since September through Apple - though I'm sure that some carriers are selling existing stock. However they are still selling the performace/spec identical iPod Touch 5, so by extension if they still think that the 4S hardware is good enough to sell, then it should get an update.

Sounds like Android # I'm joking, tbh though i think iOS 9 is going to focus mainly on performance. There may be a few new features but nothing drastic.

Not a bad idea, but I happen to agree with the bolded part more.

I almost want to say that they will continue with 8 doing 8.5-8.8 or 8.9 until next year, then do a big 9.0 release. WWDC is around the corner though, and I am excited to see what is going to happen.

I want the ability to disable stock apps and to change default apps and to get rid of the 100MB restriction.

Is that so hard to ask? And no, I don't like Android. I have to use it for a work phone and it just sits in my desk
