I have a bad feeling about this. It may be maintenance but it’s not scheduled maintenance on a busy shopping day. I wrote to the admin on MacRumors to ask them to investigate for us.

I agree not scheduled. Interesting I had a folio case in my bag for about 3/4 days and was waiting to hear that the iPad was shipped before pulling the trigger. That folio case is still there.

Yeah, I see what you mean @Ds6778.

I'm getting that shipment date as well... but normally BB will sent you another email confirming that date.

I got an “order confirmed email.” Just says Preorder on the app. Also the email says “ships by the 24th.”

I hope that the Apple Store wasn’t hacked or anything, like that incident that happened with the gas pipeline a week or two back. It just seems odd to me, that the Apple Store would suddenly go down in the middle of a Saturday. It makes more sense that “scheduled maintenance“ would be done at slower times, such as late at night, and would usually last a few hours anyway. After all, Apple wants our business, and wouldn’t take the store down for a full day for maintenance under ordinary circumstance.

The Apple Store is still down this morning.

It’s only the page, you can check your orders. The rest of the Apple store works normally and you can still buy and shopping at the Apple store 🤷🏽‍♂️ I don’t think That the Store getting hacked. Last year at the exact time, you can’t also see your orders 🙃

It’s true that I haven’t tried to buy anything other than my original order on April 30, and good to know that the Apple Store isn’t totally broken, and that you can buy something if you want to. It’s interesting that a similar experience happened last year. This is my first experience with preordering. I have ordered from Apple on one other occasion in the past, but that was a long ways back (original iPad Air), and not a preorder.

I can still only see my original order through the email link that Apple sent me on April 30th. The information there seems out of date, though, at an earlier stage in the process.

Someone in the UK forums thinks what we’re seeing is information from a “backup server” from right after the orders were placed, hence the reason that orders seem to be at an earlier stage. Nome of the actual dates have changed, at least not for mine, still June 4-10.

naaaah, I don’t know if it’s an backup Server. Orders from December/January, which are a long time delivered are in the first status from ordering 😅😅😅 I guess every order which is taken in the Apple store, is shown with the first status.
Last year Apple maintenance the whole weekend the store I read at Twitter, so I think it’s nothing we are worried about.
but I hope that we can see the orders in a few hours, I’m getting nervous 😅

That’s interesting, and thanks for the heads up on what happened last year. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that things get back to normal soon.

Mine most likely won’t ship for a couple of weeks anyway, and hopefully, it won’t adversely affect the date that I finally get mine.

Possibly good news for some, but I was reading in the UK thread that at least a couple of the late orders have actually been pushed forward by a full 9 days.(These were orders originally with a late June to early July window) I don’t know which particular model this is, though. All of those in the UK who got this good news were informed by email, and not through the Apple Store.

I haven’t received any such good news email yet, though, still showing June 4-10 in my original email and in the email link when I click/tap on it.

Order status portal is back online
I can confirm this. Also everything is back to where it was a couple of days ago, I.e. shipped instead of processing. Mine is still chilling in zhengzhou. Probably waiting for the green light to go through customs or whatever.

Yeah, mine is still chilling in zhengzhou as well. I can’t find any cargo flights from Zhengzhou to Anchorage though.

That’s good to know. I was secretly hoping for an earlier date than my current June 4-10, but nothing has changed.(boo, hiss, boo!). Still in processing, and no charge on my card either.

This is actually the first time that I would be quite happy to see a charge on my card, lol.

Checked this morning and my order was still just showing received, estimated delivery May 21st - 28th even though last week it showed as shipped, to be delivered on May 21st. Looked just now and it's back to shipped again...."on the way" with no other detail, but scheduled again for May 21st. You try not to get upset/excited, as this is normal stuff for pre-orders on a Apple product that has some new features.

UPS has several cargo flights each week from Zhengzhou to Seoul Inchon and then connecting to Anchorage with several flights per day. Seoul is a huge UPS hub. The UPS flight schedule is impossible to find ahead of time. For my own pre-pandemic business travel I used the FlightAware app that lists to/from schedules worldwide. No UPS flights listed for Sun/Mon yet on the Zhengzhou-Inchon leg. Could be Tuesday before an outgoing UPS flight occurs. Attached below is the latest movement of UPS Flt 173 on the route.

Once again, if the iPhone is any indication, UPS will charter cargo planes. Don’t panic yet. It can ship on Thursday and still make it to your home. More importantly if you are charged that is a great sign.

BTW, get your tracking number and put it on UPS app. Use that to track it. Apple store is gonna drive you guys batty. 😉

I’m still a little surprised they’ve been sitting in China this long. I’ve seen Korea and Alaska as next hops before Louisville on other releases. Also once, I’ve seen it to track directly to Louisville from China, either missed a scan on a stop or charter cargo. As long as they get to KY by Wednesday, we should be good for delivery on Friday. Monday/Tuesday would be nice to have a buffer in the event of any import snafus.
