Yes I saw that. That doesn't impact shipments that are already in route. However, you can line up early and maybe get one on Friday morning.

Again, though, this launch is a bit different than other Apple launches. It's most likely Friday, but is still -might- be earlier.

ETA: I am an eternal optimist when it comes to these things. ;)

Big difference here, unlike launches in the past, Apple hasn’t specified an exact date for delivery. We are already in the second half of May.
Doesn't matter. Won't be delivered until Friday, when they're available in stores. Check the press release today.

I’m still going to at least try to see whether I can nab one using the “pickup in store” on Friday, since my online order won’t be delivered until June 4-10. There’s plenty of time to cancel my order if successful.

I suspect that stock will be very limited, though.
For me, I think that will not be an option for several reasons. First is just the amount of time likely to be involved. Second is that the configuration I want is probably not something they’ll have in stock, certainly not in large quantities (2TB Cellular/Silver). Finally, so far it looks like I got n extra $99 off over the normal higher ed price (which in turn is $100 off sticker price) and I think that might be hard to renegotiate, so I’ll just wait and hope the online channel works faster.

i might check on-line to see if I can get one and try and negotiate in the store if it’s still around later, but I’m not expecting that to be true. I initially thought that config would not be that popular due to the cost, but it appears Apple already used that to skew the initial numbers to the smaller/less expensive options.

Oh, and I’m sure my Logitech keyboard had finally changed to “preparing to ship” earlier today, but now it’s back to “processing”…

For those confused on changing your delivery and the new Monday date: this launch is different as most UPS CC’s are not allowing you to move your delivery there. So it has to go to a third party, so you are changing the physical address. This delays by a day. A UPS CC pops up on a scan and says hold item here before they put it on the truck for delivery. That’s why they can be same day still. And no, The UPS Store is not really a UPS CC. They are licensed through UPS for the name.
So your item is in Louisville. The big pallets they are on won’t get broken down until Thursday then sent out overnight to your nearest UPS hub. When they get it Friday early to put on a truck, they will see the exception and have to put it aside for an updated label then send it on to the third party pickup location, extending it a day to be processed. Doesn’t happen at CC’s because they just move it to the customer area without a label change.

I wish the trade in boxes wouldn’t ship until it shows delivered. My biggest problem with this is now I’m likely to have to send in my old iPad without having my new one.

Education pricing works both online and in store. They will just check your student ID if you ask for edu pricing in an Apple Store. But the most convenient way would be placing an online order in the education store and choose to pick up in an Apple Store on launch day, if you didn't manage to get an early delivery date previously.

They give extra time (45 days) for trade in because of covid.

I think you're correct in saying we won't receive shipping details until the units are in Canada already. While still somewhat stressful, I trust that I'll receive mine on Friday (in Toronto). I prefer that over receiving shipping information a week and a half prior to launch and tracking every single step from China wondering why my iPad is stuck in China or hasn't arrived in Alaska etc. I think that stress would be too much to handle - I don't know how you Americans do it!
I don't know if this is true, I think I remember my iPhone shipping from China and being able to track it to Toronto. However, I'll be hopeful like you, since it says preparing to ship, with delivery dates still May 21 to 27.

My iPad is also in Louisville, Kentucky! Now it has to travel to California lol. My white Magic Keyboard is finally preparing for shipment… took them long enough. I honestly wouldn’t have guessed that the iPad would get shipped faster than the keyboard. I was hoping to have it at the same time as my iPad Pro.
I suspect the Magic Keyboards are already in country. Mine is preparing to ship and card has been charged so I think the ship update notice is lagging.

I asked UPS why when I go to set my package to pickup at the UPS CC is says it'll be ready for pickup. Monday. They said it's expected to be delivered on Monday even though my app and Apple order says Friday as well.
I believe if you go for self pickup you loose one business day. Your unit has to be pulled from the Friday shipments and takes a business day to reach and be documented that tou are picking it up. Unless other circumstances is best to leave things alone as changing thing this late in the process, seldom speeds things up.

The trade in email still says 14 days.

Ya I figured. Fine with me since I won’t be able to receive my package on Friday. I can wait a few extra days vs a porch pirate thieving it.

It says Friday pickup at UPS CC on the website. The app says Monday. I changed it to UPS CC pickup. Time will tell which date I get it.
Good luck, we down to counting hours now. Friday or Monday, it’s in the bag. Now time to think about upgrading the M1 Mac Pro I got in December. My iPad Pro will need a bigger brother, 16 inch Mac Pro with 10 core cpu, 32 core GPU and 64 GB ram. Oh and mini LED screen. The 13 inch M1 Mac Pro is getting long in the tooth at six months old. Damn just remembered will need iPhone 13 Pro Max same time. Will start following armored cars, sometimes bags fall out back. Tim….you killing my bank account!

Yes, but the listed edu price is $2299. Sticker price is $2399. Mine is currently listed as $2200. Actually it’s $2200+$4 recycling, but I assume the recycling is also additional to the other prices. Assuming it was available, blah, blah, I could could pick it up $2299 no problem. Not so sure about $2200, though; it may have been a fortuitous error and getting thst reproduced isn’t as guaranteed, st least to me.

To a UPS CC that is usually the case. If you send it to CVS, UPS locker, The UPS Store, then you lose a day because it gets a new label. Almost none of the UPS owned CC’s are allowing items to be sent there for pickup due to UPS current COVID protocols
