What was your configuration? That seems to make a difference as well as order time. Mine is silver 2TB cellular. I have probably seen a few that are the same (except maybe color), including one in SG at the store this week, but not very many.

I’m hoping to see it ship this week; if so, it will arrive on time (6/9)or maybe a few days early; not a week early. I figure it needs to ship by then to make the beginning of the window. Of course, the window is two weeks long and there’s no guarantee it will be at the beginning of the window…
The same config as Admara’s, engraved, with pen also engraved, which, as hers, already arrived. So we’re twins-in-suffering.

Well, those were in stores, but my local stores seem dry on anything right now. But those config seem to be made in greater numbers (or so it seems, and also seems reasonable).

I don’t think the engraving changes the picture too much on far-off preorders; maybe a day or two, if even that.

my grouping is not do much in weekly batches, but I’m not sure it’s so simple. For example, it seems like there were many 5/21–5/28 delivery dates. And there were fewer, but still some 6/3–6/9mdates. I don’t recsll seeing any 5/29–6/4 dates, but maybe that is due to US Memorial Day holiday tomorrow (at least for US deliveries). It seems like most of the 6/3–6/9 got bumped up into the 5/21–5/28 group and got delivered around 5/28. I notice a number of people have two week windows starting 6/23, but I’ve seen very few with my window 6/9–6/23. That could mean I’m really in the 6/23 and later group but at the beginning of it; sure hope it’s closer to 6/9.

honest question, what are you all storing on the ipad to need 1TB+? I"m astonished.
I don’t plan on buying again fir a while. You can’t add memory or storage after market. along with “Where would all that storage go” is the “How could anyone use all those computes.” To them I quote Bill Gates’ well-known quote about ”How could anyone ever need more than 640k of memory” (or something like thst). Modern software design generally does not prioritize either computational or memory efficiency. Sad, but true. It prioritizes speed to getting out the door and feature bloat. So all of that space and all of those computes are there, until suddenly, one day they’re not. DV video files run roughly 12GB/hr.

I also tend to try to use things to the limits they allow.

Speed is also very addictive. Even if it seems fast today, it won’t a year from now even if nothing changed in the mean time. Been there; done that. Many times.

I had my 12” 128GB ordered (delivery date is between June 23 - July 8) now, but I am planning to go to Portland in a couple weeks. I am hoping I could pick up a 256GB instead during that time. I have been checking the apple site every day starting from 7 am and no inventory for a pickup. Any tips what time I should be looking at? I constantly go to Apple.com site with no avail. Any recommendations will be helpful so I can cancel my 128GB order.

It feels like the shipments that got delivered about 5/28 were either already made (primarily 11”) or existing inventories of parts. If 11” are on delay, we might all be suffering from the General chip shortage as well as the 12.9s suffering from low mini-led panels ☹️

Yesterday, I went to Apple's website to look at ordering a 512GB 12.9 and it said not available anywhere nearby here in Seattle, with delivery estimate of July 9-23. Later, I went to the Apple Store app on my iPad and it showed it as available for pickup today at the store 5 miles from my house. I have a pickup time scheduled for this afternoon.

Uhh, status changed to "preparing to
ship" :) - delivery still expected for June, 3-10 ...
I’m happy to see movement. I’m still stuck in processing, which makes the first day of my window (6/9) fairly unlikely. Judging from your movement though, maybe another week. Clearly you’re not making 6/3.

Hopefully you’re among the last (unfortunately) of the windows beginning 6/3. I had thought they all got bumped earlier like David53’s.

That sucks that you haven’t seen any movement, and I honestly thought that you would have seen some by now.

The only thing that I can think of is that it’s related to the particular model that you’re ordering, particularly the amount of memory. I’m thinking that Apple underestimated the demand for the 1 TB and 2 TB versions, and had to produce more, and that people ordering those are seeing the greatest delays, and have less of a chance of being moved ahead of time.

I‘m thinking that the reason that I got “lucky” was because I ordered the 512 GB size, and maybe, Apple made more of those, and was able to bump people up from later dates. It’s also possible that there was more demand for the 128 and 256 GB versions as well, since they were the lowest priced of the 12.9” ones. This is speculation on my part, of course.

Best of luck.

One thousand percent correct! Those variants have been misjudged primarily because of the price. Apple wasn't quite sure that the demand would be as high... when you take into an account that it cost over $1500. The value for a laptop is much more reasonable for that amount.

Hi all,

2021 iPad Pro 12.9" / Space Gray / 2 TB / Cellular coming June 9th - 23rd. Ordered at 5:15 a.m. on 04/30/2021, so definitely missed the early boat. This will be my first iPad since the iPad 2 way back in 2011. Needless to say, I am looking forward very much!

I agree. At least it’s good speculation. I think that’s why I saw one or two people (I’m sure there were more, but not relative to the smaller sizes) that got theirs if they got through the store ordering hassle early. I didn’t get through thst much later (maybe 10 min? Have to go back and look), but that was already too late. Yet, others who ordered the smaller models later still wound up in the first window.

Cellular also seem a bit harder to come by than WiFi only.

Anecdotaly, space grey seems more available than silver as well.

So I guess I’m up against a shortage of mini-led panels, silver paint, modems, and 2TB SSD chips.

Oh goodie, so I do have a twin. You’re actually the only other person I’ve seen with the same window. Let’s be sure to keep other posted until at least one (and hopefully both) of ours gets delivered.

To be honest, I think I underestimated the 2TB model as well. I’d hoped it would be relatively plentiful for the same reason—the price price. But Apple appears to have end run around that hope by severely decreasing the production. It seems like they’re almost “become” configurations.

Indeed! I check my order status/credit card like a nervous rabbit throughout the day--so I will be sure to post here if there's any movement on my end.

No doubt the fully-loaded models are in short supply. 2 TBs sounds delicious in a tablet... Crossing my fingers on a more robust iPadOS 15.

Looks like your assessment was right - iPad shipped late last night and is in transit for delivery today ?.

I’m sharing the same window and same boat. I look every single day for stock in a store, but the closest I saw was a long drive away to Austin (who seem to be getting a regular supply BTW) and the SO vetoed making that drive in the middle of the week. I’ve got a trip scheduled for later this month so I’m REALLY hoping that it arrives sooner toward the beginning of the window because if it arrives toward the end…then I’m hosed :-(
