Don't know if this is old news but the UK apple site says now that the iPad is coming in late April. (So not in May as one store employee stated).

Expected price should be 349-399 pounds based on extrapolating iPod Touch prices. My guess would be the higher figure.

with over 2500 replies...*everythings* old news at this point ;)

Late April release, entry model at £417. That's my opinion. :D

My god, I hope none of us brits have gone to this length yet? (no pun intended..)

If they're going to charge above £400 for the basic model, then I will definitely be picking up a US model when I'm over there in May.

that has been up for quite a long time now. I dont think it has ever said may. No one knows the price so if thats what the store told you then they guessed just the same with the may guess.

To above poster. Dont post a link to that ****. If you read the thread you would know its fake and there was another post supose to be the guy who got the blow job if this is the one that the guy gave it. Its fake and there trolling the forums by doing that posting. If you thought it was real then shame on you.

I suppose, technically, the Apple Store staff are correct, the iPad will be on sale in May. And June. And July.......

;-)

My theory is that Apple know people here are desparate for an iPad. A lot of people are holding off on ebay / bundlebox because we think they are coming out here in April.

If Apple let us all know that there is a delay till June, everyone will rush off and buy one on import, which apple would hate.

So they'll keep us waiting until the very last minute.

I believe they are just waiting till they have to , to let us know. Late april starts on the 20th. If we havent heard by then I doubt it will be earlier than the 30th of april.

I have been away without the internet for the last two days and just seeing the prices of the new macbook pro's I don't think it is looking good for a sensible UK iPad price.

Basic 13 inch MBP: $1199 or £999
Basic 15 inch MBP: $1799 or £1499
Basic 17 inch MBP: $2299 or £1899

The exchange rate is currently £1 to $1.54, which would equal

13 inch: $1199 or £777
15 inch: $1799 or £1166
17 inch: $2299 or £1490

The premium we are paying is incredible so if this carries through to the iPad pricing we will indeed be seeing an entry level of £400- £450 which is for a non 3G unit that only has 16 gig of storage, I hope that I am completely wrong but this is apple at the end of the day!

(also sorry if this has all been said, which it probably has! Like I say I have been away from the internet and haven't caught up yet!)

I will faint if the base model is anywhere in the 'three hundred and something' bracket...your definately looking at £409+ for the 16GB in the UK..and then up from there! £600+ for the 64GB maybe?

Very clever way of thinking there 'THFourteen', seems reasonable! Definately makes you wonder why there leaving it so long to even tell us a price really!

Joining the Queue

Hello Everybody, I am another 'enthusiast' full of hate who has been reading these posts since way back. I decided to join in as there were a couple of things I thought I might throw in.
Firstly many are questioning the validity/usefulness of this thread...well I think this thread is the queue, we are all basically waiting in line -albeit very early. So lets keep it wide open and try and have some fun with it, our time will come.
Secondly, I didn't see anyone else mention this here but I could be wrong: I was at www.ipadlot.com and there is an article posted yesterday about many of the US apple stores are low or right out of stock of many models of ipad. I don't mean to begin with a negative but I think our esteemed friend here might have a salient point about Apple holding off on UK news if you put the two together. Apple will be backfilling right now -in America. (Probably due to the booming import business going down there!) So, I was outright against the idea of going down the import route, but the question is looming -especially with the assessment's here about actual UK pricing and exchange rates. My only concern as has been many others' is UK support, Dead Pixels, and timeframe. Apple are playing a very psychological game with us that's for sure. I think today might be a slow one, who knows right. Regards to all, Happy Birthday etc...

Another thought... right now, we are all becoming increasingly frustrated, upset and even a little mad with Apple (I know that they have gone down in my estimations over the last few weeks).

Wouldn't it be nice if we had preorders and reservations by now, just so that we could move on and actually get EXCITED and happy about the upcoming iPad release? Instead, we are all getting irate and annoyed, when really we should be happy.

I think that Apple have dropped the ball on this and are screwing up the UK release big time :(
