O2 have just broken their silence about the iPad on Twitter:

O2 will be offering dedicated tariffs for the iPad when it launches in the UK at the end of May. More details in the coming weeks.

OK, not exactly earth shattering, but at this moment I'll take any scrap of positive information thrown in my direction.

Does anyone know if Orange could offer an iPad 3G service? as O2 sucks for me, no signal at most places I frequent while Orange have full :D

Be very cautious of taking an O2 (contract) route. A lot of people, myself included, got bitten when wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 3GS. You can get locked in for two years when there will almost certainly be a Rev B this time next year.

Probably in reply to Vodafone having announced the same thing.

It was expected. Take a look at all his posts. He is very vitriolic. Not one positive post they all just attack people.

Well, he's not very good at it, is he?

Btw "gwynne", I really didn't mean to cause offence, for the record I have actually lived in the USA myself, I'm certainly not a hater. It was supposed to be humo(u)r. So I apologise.

I'd say it was likely that they will offer some sort of service.

As will Vodafone. They're all in the iPhone market now, so I'm sure they'll want to compete in this market too.

Orange are offering a deal on the iPhone and as it's not released hand in hand with O2 like the iPhone I suspect they will try and offer a similar deal.

I really really really hope they don't offer a contract / discounted iPad. I want a similar model to AT&T's monthly no-contract model.

Think I need to step away from the internet...

Just went on a bidding war for a 64Gb iPad on eBay. I eventually bid £740 :)eek:) before being outbid - it went for £760. Phew!

Wow. For that price you could almost get a flight to NYC and pick one up yourself for less!

If I buy an ipad from the US and it has a problem such as a dead pixel that people are experiencing what happens then? If I had a receipt from a US Apple store could I take it back to an Apple store over here? Cheers.

This whole delay thing is just crazy.

Apple says that this is due to the high demand in the US. Well isn't it safe to say that this is high demand is due to all the buyers who buy them and resell them on ebay to countries where the Ipad hasn't been released?

Its even an unintended consequence by Apple or just a ploy to get those quarter figures in.

'We sold 3 million Ipads in the first couple of weeks' What they wont say is that probably more then 2 million were bought and resold on sites to other countries where it was delayed.

If they had just released them worldwide at the sometime, the demand in the US probably wouldn't be that high

This does not look good for a sim free 3G as in the states. Sounds like its going to be offered as a contract, and i would bet that its not discounted, ie £499 for 16gb 3G with a £20 a month contact.

It's been stated that it will be sold sim free. I read that to mean Apple stores will stock it and it's up to you who you buy airtime from. But. People like O2, Voda and Orange will jump on the band wagon. Offer you one subsidised (£100 or so cheaper) but for that will tie you in for £35 a month or the like for two years.

so sorry lads, feel bad for you, for the people who were asking about custom charges, I picked mine up this afternoon and there was no customs levys only vat to be paid, plus that stupid 13.50 fee off parcel force.

Apple should be looking after all it's customers not just the u.s ones, J.M.O
