This is absolute bollocks.
Hi, I live outside the US, I'm a second class citizen
I guess Steve Jobs can't be trusted (his quote JUST last week that we were still a goer for late April), he is no better than the rest.

I am so angry right now. And no, a delayed iPad isn't the end of the world. None of this is. But being lied to by a company that I admire and have spend a lot of hard-saved cash with is not sitting well with me right now.

The thing I find annoying is that only a few days ago at the OS4 preview they stated that the launch was still go for the end of April, surely things could not have changed so much in a few days, I wish they had been honest and stated that the release date might be put back.

Agreed; they probably would have known last Thursday. They probably weren't expecting an iPad launch-related question and so gave the 'official' Apple answer...

I've just booked a couple of days in a Spa followed by a couple of weeks away, it will all be over and done with by the time I get back nice and refreshed to stroll into the apple store and pick one up. People need to stop stressing, seriously, you'll end up having a stroke over a f*****g piece of tech you don't even NEED.

Take me, take me, take me :D

'That's not the first time I've said those words' either ;) :D :p

Enjoy your trip.

So glad I went the ebay route now. I always doubted the April release date, especially with the lack of info coming out of Apple. It's not the first time we've been shafted and I'm certain it won't be the last. If you really, really want one, I'm sure you'll find a way and you may have to pay a bit more but let me tell you, (sorry to rub it in) it's totally worth it. :D

Hey, we have to apparently "chill out". After all they have to wait when a Nigella Lawson book comes out

To kevin:

I would but I am not 100% sure if i will get an american one or not as the whoel app store needing the american account using there points and stuff. I will have a look into the whole thing as I know the uk app store wont work yet. When it is up will it matter if you are using an american ipad???

Thanks

This also keeps the wife happy, which is the important thing. Tech will always be there, there'll be another thread like this next year. See you in the Rev B thread!!!

What date would you be back and posting it out on and would it have to be paypal or something? As I dont have a pay pal set up and setting that up takes 2 days alone so if your leaving friday I dont know if I would get the money. Where in the UK do you live? if North east scotland could cash but if not then I might have a problem if I chose to take you up on your offer.

I fly out on Sunday April 18th from (good old) Glasgow, and arrive back in Glasgow on the morning of Wednesday 28th April.

I would package up the iPad, and ship it out to you in Aberdeen that afternoon by insured Royal Mail Special Delivery for guaranteed arrival with you by 1pm on the 29th April.

I live in Ayr, and do you bank with the Roayal bank of Scotland perchance? I do, so if so, you could do a Bank Transfer of the money, and it would be in my account straight away.

Feel free to ask any more Q's

Kevin.

Anyone know approx how much postage from US to UK. I have a friend in Texas. Time to phone her I think !!!

I'm gutted about the delay, but what really annoys me is how SJ stated they were still sticking to late April.

F. them. Going to Germany in 2 weeks, so the iPad would be released there while I was there. Now I hear this and I would have to wait another 2 months till getting one.. I'm Pissed.

The way I understand it. ALL WiFi iPads worldwide are identical. It is not until you get the 3G ones that there are differences.

You don't actually NEED a US iTunes account to use a US iPad. People are only doing that now because the UK iPad iTunes area is not live yet. understandable, seeing as it hasn't been released here yet. But once the iPad is released in the UK, you can use your UK iTunes account and your US iPad no problem.

They couldn't give us a bigger finger than with this line:Quote:
but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

Yeah, like we give a continental flying f**k. So here is my question. If supplies are low in the US, why not just restrict the supplies there? Why does the stock being manufactured for the rest of the world get redirected there?
Surely if demand was "higher than expected" (BS alert) in the US, then all the loyal Apple early adopters made a point of buying one on launch day? So why not give the worldwide loyal Apple fans the next bite at the cherry, instead of some lazy American who waddles down to his local Apple Store a month after release to get one?

(NOTE for any Americans reading: don't take offence, I actually love you all)

Oh **** this, gonna pre-order the US 64GB 3G iPad :D

Is the VAT worked out by times 1.175? if it is for £631.52 (537.47 x 1.175) as that is sweet :D

'cos we are all a guaranteed sale (well, mostly!), whereas our waddling American cousin might buy one on impulse = more sales in the long run.

Hmmm I normally get over excited when I know something like this is coming out then rashly purchase as soon as I can, then suffer buyers remorse and grief off the bread knife for weeks after.

This delay may just calm me down and not make any snap decisions - saving me the earache off the wife (maybe:rolleyes:)

If anyone wants one, I am going out to the US on Sunday for a week.

I will be picking up a 64Gb WiFi for myself, so I am willing to bring one more back with me for a UK resident.

All in, inc Royal Mail Special Delivey for next day delivery to you (on the 29th April) would be:

64Gb - £585
32Gb - £514
16Gb - £443

I will be paying cash, so I would include the cash receipt just in case there are any problems in the future and you have to take it to a UK Apple store for any reason.

I don't want to outlay that amount of cash upfront myself, so I would need a bank transfer done before close of business Friday, so I can buy the $US dollars at the airport.

If this kind of offer is not allowed on this forum, then I appologise wholeheartedly, but now that the date has been put back to late May, it might be a quicker way for one person to get their hands on one.

Oh, and just so you know, as a reference, I have excellent feedback on Ebay. 9 years, zero negs and a 187 rating. lemoore1013 is my Ebay name.

Anyone interested, please PM me, bearing in mind the short timescale with it being Wednesday today.

I would be in for this too. (I was the one who sent you a PM on ebay, sorry!)
