I would still feel a lot better if they at least came out with a price now. These ballpark figures are so far apart, it might end it a lot cheaper to get direct from the US.

Intrestingly the US store still has the 3G as late April, no delay on that then

Well if the delay here is to supply demand there, then there would be no reason to delay them in order to supply demand to them.

Expect pricing to be announced 10.05.10 Apple will wait till last minute to adjust for exchange rates.

What's the betting S Jobs knew this was going to be case when he was asked the question at the OS 4.0 preview event but still stuck to the line of "late April'?

How can we be sure now that pre-orders don't get delayed beyond end of May.

Are we going to get an actual definative shipping /launch date on pre-orders or the stock answer "shipping late May"?

If anyone wants one, I am going out to the US on Sunday for a week.

I will be picking up a 64Gb WiFi for myself, so I am willing to bring one more back with me for a UK resident.

All in, inc Royal Mail Special Delivey for next day delivery to you (on the 29th April) would be:

64Gb - £585
32Gb - £514
16Gb - £443

I will be paying cash, so I would include the cash receipt just in case there are any problems in the future and you have to take it to a UK Apple store for any reason.

I don't want to outlay that amount of cash upfront myself, so I would need a bank transfer done before close of business Friday, so I can buy the $US dollars at the airport.

If this kind of offer is not allowed on this forum, then I appologise wholeheartedly, but now that the date has been put back to late May, it might be a quicker way for one person to get their hands on one.

Oh, and just so you know, as a reference, I have excellent feedback on Ebay. 9 years, zero negs and a 187 rating. lemoore1013 is my Ebay name.

Anyone interested, please PM me, bearing in mind the short timescale with it being Wednesday today.

What's the deal with the US 3G iPads? Will those be okay to import to the UK? Any reason that isn't an option?

Out of interest, and directed at those who have some experience of importing a Wifi only iPad, how much would a 32GB 3G cost to bring in, using something like Bundlebox?

The price is $729, so what would the total pounds price be including iPad, shipping, tax, VAT, customs etc?

Disappointing for everyone waiting, I wonder how many they've actually sold.

I ordered off eBay last Thursday from the UK, arrived yesterday - £649 including postage for a 64gb. I suspect a lot more people will be doing the same.

Delayed?!?

Delayed until LATE MAY?!?

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Oh well... eBay sellers are gonna have a field day.

I can't help wonder that it's the iBook store that could be causing the delay. If apple haven't got enough UK publishers to sign up at the right price that could hold things up.

I'll be in the minority for sure but.. I'm actually quite pleased with this.

Yes, there's a delay, but one thing we do have now that we didn't before is firm information one way or the other. "Late April" was a vague window that was always subject to change. Now we know that on 10th May, we're going to get firm details on pricing, firm details on launch and we're going to be able to actually stick our name down and reserve one. I know there's potentially an extra months wait but, in my opinion, today does mark some progress.

Personally, it also gives me an extra payday from which to save some cash for accessories, apps.. maybe even a jump in storage size.

Look on the brightside, people. We have information, even if it's not what many will have wanted, and this extra month gives Apple even more time to evaluate their international launch strategy with regards to stock etc. I think I'm actually more pleased with this approach to a launch in May, than I was about the potential of a scramble for a late April launch with rumours of no pre-orders and a fight for little stock.

Of course not. They are American. The rest of the world is second class.

Eh, this isn't necessary. It's a US company. I don't get worked up about the fact that I usually have to wait months or a year after UK launch to get new Nigella Lawson books.
