gutted!

Thinking more than ever about getting one imported. I guess this has been gone over and over but I was to get one on eBay I'd be able to download apps from the uk app store currently on there straight on to it no problems via iTunes, but getting content whilst actually on the ipad isn't possible unless I have a US account??

I feel for you guys, and thank my lucky stars that my friend from San Francisco came to London last weekend.

Gooooooooood afternoon Madame

I can get you all the Ipads

All i require is your bank account details and sort code

It is totally innocent madame :D

And just to rub it in, I came home from work and told the gf thebad news - it was her (PC) laptop dying that finally swung it for us getting an iPad - and told me that she'd been in the Apple store in Bath and asked about availability and they told her end of April

Is anyone planning to order a 3G iPad directly from Apple's website? I might do this and use myus.com who can then forward on the package to me.

I'm assuming it would be okay to use the US 3G iPad here, I've just got to get a micro sim, when the deals have been sorted here?

Don't quote me, but I have been lead to believe there are differences. Ourselves having two other baseband frequencies is one of them.

At least we're not in the dark any more, we know the date that we will be able to pre-order. It would appear that we won't know the price until when we can pre-order it.

Let's hope they give us an definative ship/launch date when we are able to pre-order.Ifs it's still the standard "ships late May" I can see us going through this whole saga again with constant speculation as to actual launch date.

The only thing that makes it seem a bit more concrete this time is the fact the mobile networks have today also issued press releases.

I bit the bullet this morning and ordered one of the Apple store with my UK CC. I'm glad I did after this afternoon's announcement!

Only just received an 'Order Acknowledgment' through as opposed to a 'Confirmation'. Bit concerned although the money has come off my card. For those that have done the same, did you also get an Acknowledgment or does the confirmation follow?!

Are the press releases for iPad 3G prices or for data tariff prices?

You bought one from Apple? Is that possible?

its got to be the screens or the A4 chip holding things up, more likely the screens TBH, one other thing has come to mind regarding the lack of price, perhaps apple are using the imported ones as a guide price ? seeing what the average is and then price it a little below that, this way they know what people are prepared to pay?

How did you manage that, what address did you give them? Surely your CC has to match the billing address?

I've got it shipping to Bundlebox.

I put my address in with my postcode on the line above the zip code and put the zip as 00000. Strangely, on the order acknowledgment, it lists my address in Austin with a different zip code! I'd already told my CC company about the transaction so it went through.

I've ordered with Apple US before over the phone so they CAN use a UK CC if needed - it's all cash at the end of the day.

Cool - glad it worked! :)

I have actually read nowhere that the iPad is unlocked or carrier-free in the UK or Europe. I have heard that it is carrier-free in the US but it will not run T-mobile (US) as it uses a different frequency (1700mhz)than what the Ipad detects and that Verizon has another format altogether CDMA.

The Ipad detects UMTS/HSPDA 850,1900, 2100 mhz. If your carrier uses that then potential yes you can use it.

However, I would also question whether carrier-free means it can be used outside the states or not? Apple are being a little ambiguous about it. they have never stated that a 3G US iPad will work in the UK.

However, what is the betting that we get screwed by the cariers in the UK. What is the bet that 3G Ipads will not be provided by the websites but by the carriers themselves and that they force you to either have a crappy contract or provide a pay-as-you -go system that is expensive.

With all of them already knowing their prices (Vodafone, Orange, T-mobile and O2) coming out with statements saying they will provide the IPad pricing at launch, what is the chances they are not competing but going to provide their own type of contract at their rates? What ius the chances the Ipad is also carrier locked.

I lived in Spain, and the only way to get an IPhone was and is through Telefonica. Every phone has to have a contract (only once did they do a pay as you go) and all distribution is via movistar. The only other way is to spend a fortune on a sim-free. What are the chances that will happen in the UK?

Ok. I've officially caved and am getting a 64gb wifi shipped via Bundlebox. I know people on this thread have has them shipped via Bundlebox already. Asking for a quote on Bundlebox but I need the dimensions and the weight of the ipad in its box to complete the quote.

Could someone let me know what they are? Have all the Bundlebox deliveries gone ok or did people find theirs stuck in customs?

I wanted my iPad to help with revision at medical school, but late May is about a week or two before the end of term.. I'm not waiting another 6 weeks, I'm either bundleboxing, eBaying or finding someone in the US who can ship it to me.

11.5"h x 10"w x 4"w - the shipped weight is about 1.5kg.
