Bundlebox say they can't take anymore orders for the iPad due to all of the demand, I think this is obviously for the 'buy for me' option.

Are most people buying from the Apple website and redirecting to Bundlebox?

Yes, it saves on the BB fee as well

TIP

Many people here ordered directly from the Apple website and shipped to their forwarder themselves. Enter the shipping address as the billing address (e.g. the addy bundlebox give you)

Some people informed their credit card bank about this before trying so that they authorise the payment (some banks even let you set up a secondary address for billing)

I placed my UK address in the billing address, making sure I put the postcode in the city/town' line then filling the Zipcode line with 00000. I always thought they checked the card against the Zip/Postcode but obviously not. Either way, my transaction was successful and confirmed by the CC company.

People ordering using BundleBox - any idea how long the '5-7 day' shipping time on the Apple Store actually is?

My order is saying it will ship on the 22nd.

just tried to process my payment and it did not go through, within seconds I got a call from my bank asking about it!

Told them it was ok and I'm gonna try again. Nice to know they are doing their job though!

Im trying out borderlinx that somebody mentioned earlier btw.

I think the 3G plans will be ok. there are already plenty of USB dongles and mifi on PAYG, so likely they'll use a similar model for ipad.

I had ordered a 3g version via bundlebox paying apple direct on a uk debit card no problem

but

I have been categorically told that the USA version is different and will not work here.

I would be interested to hear others responses from apple about this. But the sales guy was adamant. And he went off to check with the tech support person.

I cancelled my order, then waited 10 days for apple to take the authorization off those funds. Equated to£ 511. For 32g 3g

I am no way taking the risk on thus 3g USA version.
At least not until someone more technical from apple confirms in black and white that the 3g version works here

Okay, I'm preparing to join the "Crumble Club." I said I'd only buy now if there was a delay, and today we got at least a month-long delay....So!

What I'd like to know is...If I get the Wifi only instead of the 3G, and I get the 3 Mifi thing at some later time, will I basically have all the functionality of the 3G model, excluding GPS?

I knew I'd not be using the 3G much, but wanted to keep my options open. So I think I'd be happy with the Wifi only now, as long as the mifi option gives me wifi anywhere should I ever want it.

All info and help gratefully received!

Good lord, I'm glad I waited  I'm pretty sure the sales guy is referring to the AT&T deal though. I'm pretty sure the actual device is the same, but don't take my word on it! I think I'll wait this out a bit and see if I can gauge anymore info...

Do they have any Sign up fees? I looked but it appears to just be shipping and it is cheaper than BongoUS :D

Nope, I registered and they provided me with a shipping address straight away, I havn't had a confirmation email from apple yet though so will have to see if it goes through..

This is interesting, so it is a Pay Per Use deal then? I like that idea, if it is cheap for Magazines Sports Illustrated/GQ/Men's Health US Editions coming my way :D although iPad versions are coming but

I know I said this before, but I still think the real reason for the delay could be a lack of content for the iBook store. I might have missed it, but there hasn't been an announcement of any deals between UK publishers and Apple. And since one of the main selling points of the iPad is as an eBook reader I doubt that Apple would risk selling it if they couldn't supply ebooks too. The UK press would lap that up, especially if you could read them through the Kindle app!
It's a scunner whatever the reason is though.
Have thought about using bundlebox or ebay or some other import method, but will just wait. It'd just be my luck to get lumbered with a faulty one and I'd have to wait till the end of may to get apple to fix it.

itunes

hey guys, I might have been able to blag one but theres a glaring question that I have.

Will I be able to use Itunes and the app store, or will it flat out not work for us in the UK with a British Itunes account? If thats the case, will it work once it officially comes out here in the UK?

This is what worries me.

Those of you already in the UK with one, how have you managed to use it with your existing apps, and I guess you havnt been able to use the appstore at all?

iBook is only available on the US iTunes store at the moment though so I guess they've bought themselves time to come up with a solution for international markets.

I love it when a plan comes together :D

Fedex from Utah to Belfast in about 36 hours

My parents live in the States and I got my dad to bring one back for me last weekend, so have been using my iPad in the UK for 4 days now. Quite timely as am away on business and have had ample opportunity to put this to the test as a replacement for a laptop when travelling.

I'm using the 3 MiFi, and I'm really happy with it. It's very small and light, charge lasts all day easily even with heavy usage and the internet seems to fly - and my hotel doesn't have wifi and not a great place for reception. On the PAYG plan which I think will suit well - although 3 will unlock it for you.

One thing I have discovered - so many of the apps rely on transferring info or syncing over the same wifi connection - if you don't have that from your hotel or when you're out and about, there are a lot of the 'business' type apps that you'll have reduced functionality on. The Mifi creates a network that you can join everything up to so on- the- hoof syncing works well. I think that even if I get a 3G version one day, I'll keep the Mifi so I have this functionality. I hope developers start using cloud technology soon....

One other point to note if it's useful- even if you think you won't be on the internet much, you end up connected up quite often just transferring files back and forth between applications - far more than I presumed I'd be.

I love this thing - first thing I've been away for a while and not developed a hunchback carting my MacBook Pro around....

Hope that's helpful?

Just crumbled... got a 64Gb from eBay for £626 (incl. P&P).

Basically couldn't be arsed waiting a week or two for Bundlebox or a month or two for Apple UK! :)

He said ( and I have his email addy and name). That the DEVICES were different.

This needs clairification from apple USA. Anyone got a
a tech support number?

All my existing apps from my UK account have synced no problem to the iPad. I have bought loads from my US store account (borrowed a family member's US credit card) and some from the UK store account (they're on there but you have to find them via search) and they all sit in my iTunes library quite happily and sync back and forth....No problems so far

Interesting comment from that article:-

This is not an Ipad problem, you would have the same issue with an Iphone bought in the states.

Apple won't let your device sync with more than one store at a time. You are getting this message because your Ipad is currently synced to your fake US email.

To get in to the UK App store, *first* change the login on your Ipad Apps to your UK account and *then* sync to your PC's Itunes. A message will come up offering to Erase and Sync to your UK account. There's the rub though - all of your US apps etc. will be wiped from your Ipad! But you will now be able to get in to the UK App store.

This also means that nothing will change on the launch of the Ipad in the UK

Okay thanks, although disappointing this is much more preferable to getting a nasty surprise in a few weeks.
