On Thursday 8th, at the iPhone OS 4.0 preview event, Steve Jobs announced the iPad had sold over 450,000 units. He then confirmed that it would be available Internationally in Late March. But as soon as sales hit 500,000, they announce that there aren't enough to meet their already delayed International launch date?

Either Steve knew he was lying or he was intending to launch international with 50,000 iPads, I don't think so.

You lied Jobs!

Thanks. Just out of interests sake, have people got Bundlebox to buy for them, or can you use a UK credit card?

Bundlebox isn't taking orders until the 22nd now so that's why I went direct to Apple - see my post above about using a UK CC.

How much more expensive is doing it via. bundlebox than buying it from the US Apple Store and shipping it yourself to the UK as cheap as possible?

Bundle box charge about £60 if you use the 'Buy For Me' option - plus you then have to pay for shipping to the UK as well which is about £90 for their cheapest option.

I paid £344 (according to my CC) for the 16gb model, then I'll pay £90 for the shipping once it hits the BB. (I have a £10 code though so it will be @ £80).

So that's about £420 in total as opposed to around £490 using 'Buy For Me'

Hope that helps!

Does this mean that if I bought a US issue for use in the UK, I won't be able to use the UK Appstore still for books and iWorks until the date of preorder or release? That would seem like a real shafting for international customers. BTW I'm glad that after a year owning an iPhone, I decided to JB. I now have no loyalty to Apple after 20+years of using their products personally and for my businesses. I will do what it takes to get want I want and as someone else said, "Screw Apple!"

If you can get one from a friend in the US or ebay for a half decent price then just bite the bullet and do it!

I was like a hermit and spent a whole weekend umming and arring, on ebay for 48 hours (shall I - YES, no I changed my mind, Shall I???)

I feel healthy again knowing that my iPad is on route and no longer have to check the Apple website or Google for news! The extra bit of money spent by importing one will save years of your life :D

Seriously since ive paid for mine a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders!!!! If the UK prices are good then I have only paid an extra 40-50 quid (I doubt I would save anything to be honest if I waited) . Of course this money is not to be snarled at but I dont have to go thru hell for another 6 weeks lol

Wich credit cards do they accept then? Wonder why some work and some don't.

Bundlebox say they can't take anymore orders for the iPad due to all of the demand, I think this is obviously for the 'buy for me' option.

Are most people buying from the Apple website and redirecting to Bundlebox?

I have read about people using a UK CC so I am hoping it is true :D

The problem i had when trying to use my CC on the us applestore is when typing in the billing address, it has United States, and if you try and put your postcode in the zip code bit it doesn't pass the validation rules and wont let you submit the form.

You lied Jobs!

Sad but true.

He must have known just 6 days ago that the supply of iPads was so critical that the international launch would have to be delayed, and delayed significantly. Not by a day, not by a week even, but by a whole MONTH!

In the last 24 hours Apple has managed to seriously disappoint me twice. First with the pathetic upgrade to the 13" MacBook Pro yesterday afternoon, and now with this significant delay!

I need to get a life! :(

It let me, I am using a Visa Debit

For some reason my thread was closed but basically apple knew this two weeks ago and they embargo'd it. I know this because I work for a company who will be selling it and we got an email today stating that there would be an announcement from apple sent out on newswire and following that announcement the company that I work for would be allowed to announce their plans for sales. There is no way apple didn't know they were going to do this weeks ago.

How? or did you put your bundlebox address in the billing address?
As soon as you start to type in the zip code box it gives an invalid error.
If you put in a proper zip code number then the state comes up etc.

Thanks dude!

TIP

For people who never read the 10th or so page of this thread (dont blame them)

Many people here ordered directly from the Apple website and shipped to their forwarder themselves. Enter the shipping address as the billing address (e.g. the addy bundlebox give you)

Some people informed their credit card bank about this before trying so that they authorise the payment (some banks even let you set up a secondary address for billing)

If you try and do it without informing the bank they most likely will decline the transaction or they will call you to check (some people managed to do it without telling the bank but prob best to therefore to avoid snags)

Many alternatives to bundlebox, I know people who used bonvu.com

People ordering using BundleBox - any idea how long the '5-7 day' shipping time on the Apple Store actually is?

Yep I did.

I cancelled it before the card was transacted, but it was still processing for about 10 mins, at which time I could add/remove from the order.

I think you'll find that the £90 includes, and is, predominantly the VAT which they pay to the British government.

See this:

http://www.bundlebox.com/great_deals/

The chart shows how many iPads they are dealing with and the breakdown of the costs.

That is what I plan on using :D and I doubt I'll have to phone Halifax to tell them I am using it on the US site as they will let anything go through :( ********* bank ever IMO.

BundleBox looks to be a rip shipping wise, using BongoUS + DHL it is $60 (incl. set up fee for new account) which is better than the £60.

With Bundlebox, how the heck does this work?

32Gb iPad WiFi APPLE US$599.00 £10.13 £0.00 £72.06 £487.99

I assume something hasn't been declared correctly?
