Am i right in assuming that its only trying to order through Apple's US site yourself and then send to BundleBox that isnt working?

what i mean is, when they re-open their "Buy for me" service on wednesday, will that still work?

Theres plenty of good deals on eBay....Mine arrived today via Fedex 2 day international priority, 64GB for £620 all in!! No VAT

Something to bear in mind though, I've had numerous imports from the US to the UK and most carriers (DHL, Parcel Force etc) will hold the item until you pay the VAT/Duty (plus a 'handling fee' of course), but I've had two items from FEDEX in the past which have been delivered but I've subsequently received an invoice for the VAT several weeks later. Just be aware that although it looks as though you haven't been charged VAT now, you might still get a bill for it later. It's happened to me twice now with FEDEX.

I am pretty sure it will do yes. The personal shopper IPads probably wont get deliverd to a 'Bundlebox' but get deliverd to them personally so avoids that hastle.

I used my UK address as billing address but put 0000 in the zip code bit. As the poster above, when you login, theyve changed that to TX

Hmm. How long was it before it got canceled? Did you receive an order acknowledgment before this happened?

Worried now!

Can anyone give there experiance of how much handling fees are?

Just about to send an email to my cousin asking to get me a 32GB wifi which will cost about £530 to get to me but haven't factored in a handling fee!

Edit: from UPS's website

Additional Handling Fee
Additional Handling applies to the following:

Any article that is encased in an outside shipping container made of metal or wood
Any cylindrical item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container
Any package with the longest side exceeding 60 inches (152 cm) or its second-longest side exceeding 30 inches (76 cm)
Any package with an actual weight greater than 70 pounds (32 kg)
Each package in a shipment where the average weight per package is greater than 70 pounds (32 kg) and the weight for each package is not specified on the source document or the UPS automated shipping system used

Additional Handling will not be assessed to packages qualifying for a Large Package Surcharge.

UPS also reserves the right to assess the Additional Handling Charge for any package that, in UPS's sole discretion, requires special handling.

Apparently with the Ipad you will only be charged the standerd 17.5% VAT and no extra, As it classed as a data processing unit they add no duty. However if they ship it very express postage you have to pay the 17.5% VAT on total price including postage costs.

My order says : Order Date: Apr 14, 2010 at 11:20 AM PDT

I posted on here just as i got the cancellation email.

I did the same but my order was cancelled this morning. I have admitted defeat and will wait for apple to decide when they would like us to have one.

Because of the slightly better £-$ rate. Now 1.52 compared to about 1.48, I can now do these at:

64Gb - £578
32Gb - £508
16Gb - £438

Kevin.

If anyone wants one, I am going out to the US on Sunday for a week.

I will be picking up a 64Gb WiFi for myself, so I am willing to bring one more back with me for a UK resident.

All in, inc Royal Mail Special Delivey for next day delivery to you (on the 29th April) would be:

64Gb - £585
32Gb - £514
16Gb - £443

I will be paying cash, so I would include the cash receipt just in case there are any problems in the future and you have to take it to a UK Apple store for any reason.

I don't want to outlay that amount of cash upfront myself, so I would need a bank transfer done before close of business Friday, so I can buy the $US dollars at the airport.

If this kind of offer is not allowed on this forum, then I appologise wholeheartedly, but now that the date has been put back to late May, it might be a quicker way for one person to get their hands on one.

Oh, and just so you know, as a reference, I have excellent feedback on Ebay. 9 years, zero negs and a 187 rating. lemoore1013 is my Ebay name.

Anyone interested, please PM me, bearing in mind the short timescale with it being Wednesday today.

We have had it from everyone from customers who have bought from Apple in the SU in the past, to Apple Store employees, to American corporate lawyers, that the wording of the warranty technically means we are covered here in the UK.

But an *sshole genius like the one you know could always throw a spanner in the works - solution? Book another appointment I guess!

He is a friend first, happens to work as a Genius, no appointment necessary.
I'll pass on you regards!

I too ordered through the apple store via bundlebox yesterday.

waiting for some kind of email. just want them to get on with it and put me out of my misery.

Here's a thought just to mess with everyone's minds.

El Stevo has said that 3G will be available at the same time as Wifi.

o2, vodafone and orange have all said they will do ipad specific data tariffs.

who wants to bet on the three telco's doing subsidised iPad's with an iPad data contract? they all already do subsidised laptops...

No cancellation email, but no confirmation email either :/

I did however just get an email approving me for my Virtual Discover card I paid for, so if this gets cancelled I will try that instead.

Already been talked about a few times. Seems theres mixed opinion on whether or not it will happen.

Reports i have seen so far all say they will not do the device, only Apple will sell the iPad, so not sure how a subsidised solution would work.

Of course its all rumour at this stage anyway.

If he's turning away people just because he assumes that the warranty doesn't apply internationally, that's pretty lame to be honest, no offence. It's in the wording, it only says that international policy "may" change, not that it actually has. It is within our rights to take it back to an Apple Store anywhere in the world.

if they don't even have any in, its reasonable to think they don't have any customer care information and therefore don't know how to deal with customers bringing in US ipads with issues. They certainly won't have any replacements. People that are importing need to be patient if they have issues, I'm sure once your local country actually starts selling them you'll have no problems.

Well I've got a particularly bad problem. My iPad is currently in the air! Where will it go? This is hilarious. :D

If you thought about what could possibly delay your ipad delivery I bet one of the last things that crossed your mind would be a cloud of volcanic ash from iceland...

Oh well yeah, if anything goes wrong before now and "late May" are options are severely limited. Someone mentioned a while back that we will actually be able to take back our iPads on launch day if we don't want them? Can that be right?

Jobs: 'Are you nuts' to European expecting iPad in April

http://www.9to5mac.com/steve-jobs-are-you-nuts-50934098376

MacStories reposts an email train from a user in Switzerland, Paul Shagwell, who asked Jobs:

Dear Mr Jobs

On behalf of the international community of Apple consumers I would like to protest at the way Apple is apparently leaving us out in the cold with the Apple iPad product.

We have been fed either misinformation or no information at all and it is starting to cast doubt over Apple’s intents, at least it is to me.

I live in Switzerland and as yet we have no idea what the Apple iPad will cost here, if it is anything like the international pricing we have been used to to date on other Apple products, then it will certainly not be an “unbelievable price” as stated in your marketing.

If the delays and lack of pricing information is due to Apple doing it’s level best, to make sure that we are not being ripped off, then I applaud that work. However, as previously mentioned, I am doubting this.

Twice to my knowledge you have falsely stated international availability of the iPad and while I do not believe this is any fault of your own, I can imagine that you are not happy being shown as deliberately pulling the wool over the rest of the worlds eyes.

This is what you said at the iPhone OS4.0 announcement

That was a continuation of an earlier email in which he asked Jobs about the launch. Jobs responded then:

11:10AM – Q: Will iPad’s success impact its international launch?

Steve: No, we said we’re launching internationally later in April, and we’re launching later in April.

Please can you clarify what is happening and why it has taken so long for information to be released to the international community.

May I suggest the following: Make it easier for us to purchase your products directly from the USA online Apple store. Many of us would be happy to do so and pay extra for local Applecare.

I look forward to your response.”

Actually, he probably wasn't looking forward to this:

“deliberately pulling the wool over the rest of the worlds eyes”
Are you nuts? We are doing the best we can. We need enough units to have a responsible and great launch.
Steve Jobs keeps it real.
