They opened early for the 3GS launch it was very nice indeed. I think it opened about 7AM, nice atmosphere, no other shoppers and coffee and biccies supplied courtesy of Apple.

Bob. Is 7:00 early enough?
I mean I was waiting outside from 4:30 am onwards to get my 3gs on release day and I got the last 32gb. I was 8th in the queue!!!
This was at chesters 02 store

Just can't do the mad rush from the opening the centre doors to the apple shop. I can't run that fast!!

No it was fine. The store opened at 8:30 as far as I remember. So I had queued about 45 mins or so. I had got there about 15 mins after the Trafford centre opened it's one door. There was about a dozen people in front of me. By the time they were letting people into the store the queue was about 50 or so. I don't think anyone went away disappointed.

very well put, it makes no sense for me to import now, only reason i was gonna go with BundleBox is because i omitted so many costs that it made it seem cheap lol.

Besides, im going to Florida in July so i need every spare penny (besides my iPad fund ;) )

Absolutely, and if iit's really necessary to use Bundlebox's Buy For Me service, there is no way you can justify it.
I am travelling myself to the US in end May, but I might actually end up buying it in the UK for 2 reasons - guaranteed delivery due to pre-order on May 10 and warranty. That is, if the UK prices are not an absolute rip-off with respect to the US ones (I am going to California, and tax rates there are in the region of 9.75%, so a 32 GB 3G iPad (my choice regardless of location of purchase) would cost 910 Dollars all told - 588 pounds. So, a £599-619 UK retail price would have me buy one without thinking twice

Where abouts are you two from? im from prudhoe, in northumberland

Ill be going to the Launch at Eldon Square in Newcastle

either of you going along?

I'm from Morpeth mate. I would love to go to the launch as I've never been to one before (didn't fancy travelling to Scotland!) but chances are, I'll get one through work because I work for a company, shall we say, involved in the iPad, so will get a discount and free data plan. Although... if 3g is much more money, there will be no point as it'll hardly ever leave the house, so I will just get a wifi one and use mifi on iPhone if needs be.

ha! nice, im guessing itll be a shipping company, or mobile phone distributer.

Ill not push you for details though.

Ive never been to an apple launch, i was meant to go to the opening of the newcastle store, but never got around to it, so ill be there for the iPad. well, if i get my act together and start saving!

Yes they did.

I was lucky. The guy in front of me scarpered when he found out there were only 8. To the other 02 store. Then the guy in front of him failed the credit check.
I was originally no 10 in the queue.

Was great fun though:)

might see you there bob !!

I look forward to it. I think my son is taking a day off work as well as he is getting one as well. Hope to see you there.

It may be, or it may not. Nobody shall ever know. ;) I sold my MBP for £660 this afternoon so I'll keep a hold of the cash either way to get an iPad. I quite fancy going to the launch even if I do get one through work and buying a case. lol!

I knew I didnt have the will power to wait. Just brought a 32GB of eBay that is in the UK now for £600 with Free P+P. Not too bad of a price and not too much of a premium. Should get it mid week.

Thats my local Apple store also. God bless the new Eldon Square extension, I might be going to the launch just to experience it since we now have an Apple store. However I do still love getting it on launch day straight to the front door.

I am however heading to London on the 28th May, so if they release it on the 29th I am officially screwed, one of reasons I was desperate to import it... reallly wanted to take my Ipad to London with me, also will kill me having to wait till I get home to use it.

wooo go new eldon square, newcastle newcastle newcastleeeeee!

Thats my local apple store too, il be going there for the launch for sure. If theres enough of us norths on here maybe we can all make a meet up?

Are these pretty good discounts?

Are these pretty good discounts?

Seems only the Macbooks and Macs are discounted? The rest actually cost 1 pence more funnily enough, apart from the iPhone with 1p discount. Those Macbooks have quite a nice Discount though. Education store?

On the macbook yeah, the normal price is £816.00

But why the 1p addition?

Not the education store, but the partner store :) The discounts here are more than normal employees get for partner companies (they are typically the same as educational prices).

So Apple have now moved the shipping date of the 3G model for US customers to the 7th May. I really hope this development doesn't delay the international launch again! :(

ETA: Okay just reading on here that it's probably for new orders....

....had this reply today:

Thank you for contacting the United States Postal Service regarding the handling of an International Express Mail shipment, due to the volcanic ash spreading because of the eruption in Iceland.

At this time I can confirm that service in northwestern Europe may be disrupted due to the volcanic ash spreading from an eruption in Iceland.

Check your tracking this morning!

Somehow USPS managed to get at least one flight out of New York and into (eventually at least) Scotland.

My 64GB is awaiting customs charging in Scotland!

I never thought that news would be welcome! :D

I think that yours was on the same flight!

Ahh. Mines showing that it's arrived in the UK and is at the International Hub (which I think is in Coventry... so not far from here!).

Hoping to see more progress today now! :)

Is there only one international hub, because mine is shown at the / an international hub also.

The reason I said Scotland in my earlier post (which I've now edited to show the details) was because I clicked on a mapping facility on the package tracking application on my iPhone and it showed the shipment in Scotland.

Check Parcel Force now in UK. Gives a more detailed, local updates. Mine arrived this morning, and now going through a massive sync!

Would you believe me if I actually said it's smaller than I thought it would be?

Oh, noticed I must update my signature ;-)

Ahhh. I just checked my iPhone app too. It shows mine as being at my home on the map if I zoom in. Suspect it's not that accurate then. :-s

I did a bit of googling and found a mention of it being in Coventry and then I found this on the ParcelForce site:
We operate a hub and spoke collection and delivery system with 53 depots across the UK feeding two state-of-the-art hubs in the midlands. One hub is for UK parcels and the other for International parcels.

Presume they must have a Customs operation within the hub then?

Yeah I've been following it on there since it shipped from the US. Still saying the same thing on there at the minute.

When did yours ship from the US?
