Well, according to ParcelForce my package is currently in a store waiting more detailed processing - i.e. unboxing and the writing of many letters. Gah. My sender marked it as a 'gift' too and there won't be an invoice in the box either. Perhaps that's what the problem is.

Either way, apparently there's a backlog at Customs for investigations and no way to get through to anyone who gives a s**t there either :(

Talk about frustration. I don't know how it can take 'em so long to work out the price of the item. Surely a quick google search would reveal how much it was worth...

UK prices on Play.com:

16GB £499
64GB £699

Unbelievable??

Full story here:

Old news. Literally - that article is from the 8th March where Play leaked (I mean, accidentally published) prices to the Google Shopping service. You can see the Play website does not list a price for the iPad. Still if you were responding to me it's fairly obvious what an iPad actually costs in the US and thus it's not really a difficult job to calculate VAT and send the package on its way.

Indeed. I think there is only one person who actually works at the ParcelForce Customs hub. It's the same woman whose voice is on the out of hours answermachine message - a painful two minute recording which basically says "Check HMRC's website" as the answer to everything.

Ouch, thats painful, and worrying since they have such stringent policys on what can be called a gift and not a gift. It should not be too bad though as long as whoever sent it didn't lie about the value, as either way you would pay exactly the same customs tax on an IPad whether it is a gift or not so they can not get at you say you were trying to avoid charges e.t.c.

What's worrying is that they are a law unto themselves with no customer service charter, complains procedure or for that matter any means to speak to anyone who can tell the difference between USPS and UPS.

I have pictures of the item and custom declaration as well as the original (Best Buy) purchase receipt now so I'm thinking about printing it all off and posting it to them in the hope my letter will be opened by a smart person who will add the charges on and hand my package over.

Ok - rant over. Guys and girls - is the wait worth it? :)

Well I finally cracked and bought one off eBay...
A seller who claimed to have won it but had no history at all and was charging a reasonable BIN.
A fool and their money is easily parted...... But I got reassurance b4 hitting BIN, and got directed to a whole tonne of proof regarding the win, which as it was via his employer and their trade magazine, gave me direct verifiable evidence.

So I did it and his replies to my emails ceased.......

I heard nothing, nada not a peep

For which 2hrs later he apologised as he'd had to go to an urgent meeting but arranged for me to pick it up at the reception of his office, which I did just over an hour ago :)

over that period of the gap in communication my heart was in my mouth!

But I'm well chuffed and will be home in 20 mins to start playing :)

Purchased and received on same day :)

^ Good one! Do you mind me asking which model you went for?

That's a great result. You must be feeling quite chuffed. ;)

I have decided to put mine on ebay, what should I put the BIN on for. I am in the UK, Wakefield so I think that should increase the value a bit.

I don't think that is a realistic buy it now price, I was looking for around the original price I paid for it, its in amazing condition and cost me just over 580 quid. Yeah it is only the 16gb model, but it is in the UK, and ready for pickup whenever for the winning bidder.

Mine was the 16gb and I had it for £550 exactly plus the £15.90 it cost me in rail fare to go and pick it up.

The seller actually had gone out and bought the Apple UK plug as well to go with it at no extra charge.

My initial concerns during that couple of hours 'radio silence' were completly unfounded and based on the paranoia that comes from just dropping 550 squids to someone with no feedback and of course the immediate silence following the transaction.

He was a very pleasant chap who was in work and employers expect you to work so was simply unable to attend my every whim..........he had a point :D Actually he was too nice to say all that exactly but I knew the score.

Synching up in a few mins :)

PS just to note as there has been much debate in this thread about the Apple warranty - the warranty info in the leaflet in the box clearly lists all european territories as covered. For our purposes at least it's a world wide warranty.

Now gotta go and play :)

Soaccording to Fedex my iPad Arrived at Bundlebox about 2.5hrs ago. However so far Bundlebox have not registered is on my arrived shipments.

How long have other bundlebox users had to wait between the item arriving at bundlebox and showing up in the arrived shipments?

I'm begining to worry... They have an 2000 (GMT) cut off time for shipping out tonight

Yeah I am going to put it on for 550 quid, so if anyone is interested you can pay for it and come and get it today. That is if you live within the Yorkshire area of course. My ebay name is Michaelbeaumont123

I am thinking of getting an iPad via BundleBox. To confirm:

What is happening with activation? Does it have to be a US account? Can I just use my UK account after activating?

What about warranty? Does it only apply in the US? Useless over here?

1. Activation just requires an internet connection via iTunes.
2. It does not have to be a US account.
3. Yes, you can use your UK account but will not have access to the US app store (as you might expect).

It depends on how busy they are, normaly takes a couple of hours all so to show up in your 'arrived' box. On April 3 it took them all day to book in the iPads coming to the UK!

You use a UK account to activate. you 'ONLY' use the usa account to get Ipad apps unavailable in the UK. There are quite a few that will not be out in UK till end of May with the release e.g Ibooks.

It will just sync as normal with your UK iTunes account, warranty is international, see recent post on this thread.

Ok thanks. Another question.

I have heard the iPad AppStore is not active in the UK yet. True? The iPad apps I can find on the UK store via iTunes on my computer, can I transfer them over if purchased?

Also, again, anybody know about warranty? Is it void if used in the UK?

There is no official App store in the UK yet , but you can still find most of them by searching.

However a lot of the big name ones, especially the ones Apple use to promote the Ipad are not available in the UK store at all yet.

The smaller developers are releasing to all countrys.
