I guess so. Missed that part. However Intlo is a pretty dodgy company I bet they dodge paying VAT by doing that.

Are they well known for being dodgy? The website looks ok and the price of the iPad looks even better.
Anyone successfully used them for an iPad purchase?

Im hearing so many mentions of having to make a US account. Why? I was told you don't need to. Can't I just use my UK account from the get go?

You need a US account to use the US app store.
UK account will give you full access to the UK store which has… nothing in it :(

saaaayyyyy whaaaaaaatttt by a tenner yeah

This should cover it:

It has been said over and over. You can not get ALL the Ipad apps with a uk account. Such as Ibooks and the Marvel comic book app e.t.c.et.c Not till it is out in the UK

You really think their Ipad prices are ok? came to over $700 for me without VAT. Easily get better on Ebay.

That's alright! I'm happy for you :)

Whatever the truth of the situation is I know that at least Customs and Parcelforce have lied to me once each.

I called UPS this afternoon and spoke to a helpful guy there who confirmed that they (UPS) do in fact have the package but it's in a storeroom backlog at the moment for the attention of UPS to process. I've called Parcelforce half a dozen times over the last five days and each time spoke to a different person who has advised that the package is not with them. I managed to get through to a helpful person at Customs who said that the package isn't with them either but with UPS. What a pullava. Looking back through the history of this thread almost this exact same person has happened to at least one other person before me.

Either way I have the original purchase receipts for the iPad and the Shipping and have faxed these to UPS. I'm hoping for a quick charge and release rather than more days in storage which doesn't help anyone.

Exactly the same as I was told today (thanks to those who posted the telephone numbers for UPS/Customs) Spoke with a very helpful chap @ UPS who explained that they work on behalf of Parcefarce for international packages - dealing with the customs side.

Mine was sent Express 24 from USPS - below is the timeline as per the parcelforce website:

Date Time Location Tracking Event
25-04-2010 19:28 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGING
25-04-2010 19:28 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGES
25-04-2010 19:24 International Hub Arrived in destination country
16-04-2010 11:28 Delivery Agent - CHICAGO Left origin country
16-04-2010 08:12 Delivery Agent - CHICAGO Arrived at Outward OE
15-04-2010 10:42 Delivery Agent - UNITED STATES AMERICA Collected from customer

Thankfully WFH today - so could spend quite a bit of time re-dialling trying to get through.

So currently it's been sat with UPS for the last 2 days. Hopefully I'll get it before the weekend ........

ahhh, keep us updated. Mine is at the same stage as yours apart from it has been at 'awaiting customs charging' since yesterday. Kind of starting to think its more hassle than its worth and mine didn't even get caught up in the volcanic ash etc..... oh well!

I've had my iPad for a while now, and I've been so busy using it I haven't been on this thread! I'm really impressed overall, and there is nothing I have a problem with. Typing is just as fast as on a normal keyboard after some getting used to. Pages is wonderful, and everything just renders so quickly compared to the iPhone. I might put up some pictures soon. :) Cost me around £530 all-in for the 64gb.

Actually the Marvel app is available on the UK store.

At the weekend I registered a US account by selecting no payment type and entering the address of a real Apple store, and then I downloaded free apps. If I want to buy an app, I'll just grab a US gift card off eBay.

I have been looking on the Apple Store, can you get faster delivery than just 5-7 days (free standard delivery) to your bundlebox?

nope that's the best Apple are offering atm.. I think they are still struggling to meet the demand for them.

Anyone found an effective way of importing the camera connection kit to the uk? Cheers

well you could use bundlebox... however I suspect that come may 10th you'll be able to order them on the UK store. I also suspect that they will ship and get to you before the US store will ship to bundle and then ship down to you.

Cheers. I bid for one on eBay last night but it ending up going for $99!! I need one before I go back-packing on 8th May so I'm not sure if the BB option is going to get here quick enough. Any nice americans out there who want to do me a favour and make a few bucks?

:(Checked with UPS again - not yet on their system. Got through to somebody @ parcelforce (general helpdesk) They said they were running a 5 day delay @ end of last week - however they did work teh weekend to clear some of this backlog.

Based on what I was told - I might get the IPAD @ the earliest Friday. Depending upon backlog/Customs etc etc.

One thing this has taught me is never to use USPS/Parcelforce for fugure deliveries. From now on I'm gogin down the Fedex route !!!

However this won;t stop me checking every 15 minutes to see whenther the parcelforce tracker has been updated for my package .........:D

I just got a call from an annoyed Customs agent working at the Parcelforce Int'l hub (she must have been annoyed after receiving my third fax in two days) and said that "Parcelforce don't use UPS" and that my particular parcel is probably still in a rollcage waiting to be booked in. (SINCE LAST FRIDAY!!).

Whatever the situation it's obvious that ParcelForce/UKBA/UPS have a massive logistical and communication problem and I hope that my iPad isn't going to be a casualty of it.

Has anyone seen any good iPad cases available in the UK. I wouldn't mind the Apple one. But I saw one on Ebay and it was already up to £62.

Nope, I've been looking for the past few days and the ones on eBay are expensive. I think I only want an actual Apple one unless a different make really stands out. I asked in my local Apple Store if they would be able to source one for me, but the staff were more interested in playing with my iPad than helping me!
