Im more concerned about pricing we already have been informed of when it will be released late april so im confident it will be coming out before 1st May.

I'm not really bothered by the potential price, it's not going to vary dramatically from what's been suggested. If people are in a position that they have to scrimp and save for it then they should really looking at other priorities in their life than something to laze about the house surfing.
good price considering I have only seen them go for around £800

It's not really about scrimping or saving, it's just nice to know a definite price. Of course there are ballpark figures that people are talking about but given the variables involved the price could turn out just about anything at this point. It'd be nice to see which side of "unbeleivable" Apple's pricing (combined with "rip off Britain's") falls on.
To be honest, people are also just looking for firm information to cling onto. Even a sniff of launch detail this side of the pond would be a start, although I personally believe that information on dates, pricing and pre-ordering will arrive at the same time regardless..
How do you know that its only going to be used to laze about the house surfing ? Could it be used to create content for their job ? Could it be used to communicate with family who they don't see on a daily basis ? Could it be used to do their food shopping online ? Could it be used for other important daily tasks that enhance one's life in an important and inclusive way ?
Much of these examples could also be done on another machine of some sort (and thus means that someone could purchase some other machine instead) but the choice of this particular one might be because it fits the bill for a person where other machines don't, in portability, or form factor, or in the case of a few people I know, accessibility. Accessibility for visually impaired people is expensive on a computer, if you want it to work well, and can sometimes rely on buying from a third party (if you're a windows user). I know this first hand. With the iPad, it's built right in.
Just because you might only use it for lazing about the house surfing doesn't automatically mean everyone else will. It's obviously an important priority for those people scrimping and saving for a good reason, else they wouldn't be doing it, would they ?

Where did you get yours from ebay?
Everyone is different yes, however, I dare say the vast majority of buyers will have access to several other devices to fulfill the needs you've stated, the iPad for the vast majority will be used for what it's designed for at this point and that's media consumption in it's varied forms.

Went into my local Apple store at the weekend and thought I would attempt to find out any information about iPad release date/price etc... I said "come on then put me out of my misery, when will I be able to get my hands on an iPad?" The response I got was, "Not long too wait, you can expect it on the 30th April". He didn't give any price details....

Aye. The lack of info has gone from being vaguely annoying, to extremely frustrating and now beyond silly.
I've no problem waiting as such, but it'd be nice to know what I'm waiting for dagnabbit!!

I happen to think that he is just guessing to put you out of your missery. lol. Apple stores dont actualy know yet when they are going on sale or when they are taking pre-orders. I know people who work in an apple store (no I dont get a discount

I'm saving. I've been saving before the damn thing was even announced (officially). It's more than a device for consumption for me, its an accessible portable work platform that the machines I have right now don't replicate. I recognise I am in the minority, but my priorities as a scrimper are certainly carefully considered in the context of my other life priorities.
I just wish I knew how much of my savings to divert. Fifty quid either way is a lot of money to me, you know ?

I can understand why the 3G version might not have a price yet but I cannot fathom why there is no wifi price.
I am in a similar position and looking for this to use for basic word processing and reading lots and lots of pdfs!
However, I will be getting the 3G model so hopefully they will be announced at the same time. I'm not holding out much hope for quick availablity on either model though.

Just because someone will consider the price before purchasing doesn't mean they don't have enough money to be getting something like this.
Things are only worth so much.
If iPads were £2,000 each then I wouldn't buy one, even though I could afford one.
I can also afford any of the 6 models that will be available, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna buy the 64GB 3G one. I'll spend what I think it's worth me spending on an iPad. That will probably be a 32GB 3G, which I'm hoping will be around £560.
Now come on, Apple - some news please!
