Ah. Damn! I used my friends address in Chicago - one of the worst cities in the US for sales tax!

DOH! Oh well. It's only a couple of quid I suppose...Thanks for the quick answer

Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon - change your address

Morning. If you do hear anything today which I think is doubtful, then it will be after 5pm our time (9am theres). They will coincide it with their own US announcement of the 3G version I guess. But I still think they might wait till after Saturday at least. A lot bought on the first day openly admitting they had no intention of keeping it and would get a refund and buy the 3G one when its available. If nothing is known by weekend and they havent gone for a refund it will be too late as its after the 14 day return period.

UK Accessories

;)Guys,
Have you bought any accessories (whether you have an imported one or are still waiting like the rest of us)?
If so did you get any from UK?
Can you let us know what you think of them?

I have just ordered some bluetooth headphones for mine as I can see myself watching movies on trains/planes and would rather not have cables all over the shop. Will let you know if they are any good when Play.com deliver them.

Thinking about getting the official Apple slip case, but would also like a nice bag of some sort to hold the iPad and the headphones.

I also like the idea of a dock so that i can use it as a picture frame, but cant say the Apple one looks that great/easy to use, so wondering if there are any alternative brands (UK based ideally).

Anyway, like everyone else, will be keeping an eye on the store today, would be nice to know how badly my credit card balance will look next month

I have not heard many good things about the Apple case yet. I think the major complaint is that it's nigh on impossible to get out of the case and the dock doesn't fit when its in the case. I might have to look at a third party case.

What make of BT headset did you order. I have been thinking about some.

I caved. Sorry guys.. I just bought a 64gb from the Marketplace for $675 plus $35 shipping. Ended up costing me about £460. Might get stung for another £80 at Customs, but still a good price even if it does come out at £540. :)

my mate is in NYC on business this week and he's bought me a 64GB ipad yesterday (all they had left in the store)! He's not back till saturday though, and I'm at my cousins wedding on sunday so it might be monday till i get it /o\

still i've invested far too much time refreshing this thread to stop now. so

/presses F5

so will today (Tuesday) be THE day?

The apple store might well go down today, if the MBP rumours are true - if it does go down, apple may as well update the pages regarding iPad pricing too?
(kill 2 birds with 1 stone?)

just a thought...

I received my 32gb iPad yesterday! for those who are patient enough (unlike me), then let me tell that it it will be worth the wait (imho)...

I also have the Apple case - i think it's quite good! bit of a dust magnet, but should protect the iPad nonetheless.

Also, the iPad screen attracts dust too! don't know if that's cos it's new and when you take the plastic wrap off, there's still some static on screen, or not?

Anyhooo... mine worked out to be about £450 for 32gb iPad/Apple Case/shipping... and i didn't have any customs/vat charges either :)

I'm pretty happy with those face value costs :)

Hope we hear something soon about UK preorders or the release date. I've started downloading free apps for it off iTunes even though I can't order one yet! Adobe Ideas looks great - just wish I could use it.

Well but Americans can pre-order the 3G right now and they already know the prices. I'm not really sure if a mere date announcement would affect the number of returned iPads that much.

Nokia BH-905's, pricey, but they have noise reduction which is important for what i will use them for, and as I will use them pretty much every day they will be worth it for me. Read some online reports that rave about them.

Me too! Last night I grabbed Alice Lite. The vid looks great, but I want to actually give it a go before I buy. I have a feeling my daughter will like that one! :)

I honestly feel for you. Think I would hate that worse than the wait for a UK version. Knowing its yours and soooo close. Hope they sort it for you.

got offered the 64gb wifi for £700 - but then it dawned on me £700 !!!

i'll settle for the 16GB wifi thank you very much

Had the exact some thought this morning.
£700 can buy you a lot. For a luxury device it is far from cheap. I am hoping the UK wifi will be less than £550.

Well, today is the day Apple announces new MacBook Pros (otherwise there'll be a serious meltdown on the Arrandale thread lmao), how depressing would it be for new MacBook Pros to be released worldwide before EU iPads...

Lmao what the hell, am I the only original poster who hasn't eBayed one yet?

Ryan are you sure it's legit?

$675 means the seller would be selling for $24 loss as Apples price is $699.

I hope you haven't been scammed but that price seems 'too good to be true'..
Yep, I'm certain it's legit. First, it's preowned, or as preowned as a one week old device can be. Second, I'm buying it off alphaod, who has 13,000 posts and is a Demi. I'm satisfied that it's legitimate, and just looking forward to getting my tracking number! :D He would have paid about $50 in sales tax as well, so really it's almost a $75 cut to own something for a week. Sad, but I suppose it can't suit everyone.

Lmao what the hell, am I the only original poster who hasn't eBayed one yet?
Well, I don't consider it so much 'caving' as the price I paid is likely to be considerably cheaper than the UK price if I don't pay VAT, or just a little bit cheaper if I do. Really, it was a good deal that was an impulse buy. I do understand though; I've been here for over 80 pages, probably racked up a good 50 posts in this thread, and I caved, so close to the finish. I'm slightly ashamed. :(

Nope. I'm still hanging in there.

But I tell you this - I've decided if we get to the end of April and Apple then say there's another delay until "late May" or "June" or whatever, without a firm date -- as in "Available on the 4th of May / the 25th of May / the Eleventy First of May / the whatever of June", then I'm ebaying one. This Twelfth of Never thing is getting right on my norks.

yes ok i admit it.
i said i was so arsed off with apple i wasnt going to buy one for my son.
a blatant lie, i have been following this thread for days,

lets hope today is the day peeps..

on a side not slightly, i did preorder one from apple us via bundlebox, decided at the last minute to cancel and wait for the uk release.. apple had only placed an authorisation on my money not actually taken it but it took 10 whole days for them to release that money back into my available funds

fingers crossed..

I am going to buy the full version today after seeing the TUAW video clip of this app. Man I hope this is the sign of things to come, my little girl is going to love this!!!!!!

Only thing I dislike is that it is a seperate app and not part of the ibookstore, wish they would organise things better, the iPad apps is a mess already!

You just gotta love the made up words, 'Eleventy First of May' :p
'getting right on my norks' that could be my new favorite and possibly T-shirt material!!

Thats an awesome deal - cant see the UK price being any cheaper, sure it will be mint as well since only a week old :D

Yeah I imagine the UK prices will be a nasty surprise, eBay is pretty sensible at this stage to be honest.
