Eh?

How can they be cutting it fine? They said Late April. It's not Late April yet. And Late April lasts a long time, arguably at least a week.

GET. OVER. IT. PEOPLE.

Cleary your either:

A) American
B) Can't afford a Ipad on release
C) Not really bothered anyway

Otherwise you would be agreeing with us, rather then arguing.

on my calender it says 13th april...so 17 days left in april yeah?

even if they release it on 30th april, which is 17 days away, how are they cutting it fine exactly?

they dont have to pre-order...

The apple store in my area say they will definatly have pre order so the do have to have pre order.

so are cutting it fine as they are meant to have 2 weeks to pre order so basicly 3 days till we should be able to pre order or we will get 1 weeks to pre orders.

No, it is the typical "I'm too cool to get caught up in this" mentality. You know the type, the guy who thinks he has seen and done it all in life. The type who joined the forum years ago, whilst we still thought Apples grew on trees only. The type who reacts to any little criticism of Apple as if they are Steve Jobs himself.

It's interesting to see that Apple have taken this opportunity to up the pricing of the Macbooks in the UK.

Prices are the same in the US but the UK are now £999 (was 918) for the 13 inch and £1499 (was £1328) for the base 15 inch.

Those exchange rates are now 1.20 and 1.13 respectively. So I think the cheapest we'll see a 16GB iPad is £415... unless they take a hit to keep the price low.

OUCH, THIS is a concern. If the 16 is £415 then I cant see the 64 being below £550, which may well mean I dont get one after all.
:(

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this.....Apple knew they couldn't be late (if only a couple days) with the US launch as this would have affected the share price. However the rest of the world is a different story. This situation not giving their prospective buyers outside of the US no information regarding release date and prices is just causing confusion and bad feeling towards a company who's main focus always seems to be the US Market.

in a true British style , no iPad's this week so i will see you all next tuesday ? mmm does not work as well when typed better to be said:p

Once again, I'm moved to say....thank the lord 3G's aren't out in the US yet! No way could I resist importing.

they might push to keep the 16gb under £400, so a nice £399 price, but then claw that back with higher prices for the 32 and 64 models.

I'm Scottish, living in London, can easily afford a 32GB 3G iPad and am gagging for it. But rather than waste my time hitting Refresh on the UK Apple site throughout my day, and then getting actually *angry* about not being able to order something that I've been told I won't even be able to buy for at least 2 more weeks, I'd rather waste the same amount of time mocking said angry peeps.

;)

Seriously though, I've come to terms with the fact I can't have one till the end of April, and don't see the point in raising my blood pressure over something so stoopid. I'm just enjoying reading the reviews. Everyone knows anticipation is half the fun here.

If they get the 3g before we get wifi that will be just wrong so we must get it before may since they have been promised late april and they dont want to delay the american customers.

It would be interesting to know what Apple's opinion on an 'unbelievable price' is concerning the UK market... I hope we won't all be choking on our tea when we find out!!

:D

I'd be the first to slag off Apple and Mr Jobs about something that, you know, *mattered*. I think his latest little childish hissy fit about people using the word 'pad' in their app names is absolutely ridiculous. How can anyone trademark the word 'pad'?

LOL another one!

They told you end of April. What's wrong with that? You've got two more weeks to save your pennies and get excited. If come the end of April they say, "Sorry, we meant middle of May" then you can get huffy. Until then stop acting like Mr Jobs touched you in your special place ;)

Golly, this is an awful lot of fuss over a gadget...:)

Seriously though, big companies tend to keep announcements separate; they get more publicity that way...they would never make an iPad announcement on the coat-tails of a Macbook announcement; just doesn't make sense.

Let's look at what we KNOW, as opposed to what we can speculate. Just about the only thing we know is that the iPad will be available by the end of April. This was confirmed by Steve Jobs last week.

Apple are not 'cutting it fine' for an April launch. There's still 17 days of April remaining and all they have to do is make the product available by end of April and they have met their promise. They haven't said they will do pre-orders and they may not; we shouldn't assume they will just because that's what they did in the US.

I have no doubt Apple know exactly what they are doing; international product launches require weeks/months of planning and cannot be altered easily. I expect UK stock to be en route via sea from China as I type this.

As for pricing, we know roughly what it will be, and we know that (as of last week) the launch was on schedule for end of April.

Let's just be patient, people...

Hmm, I suspect that'd be celebrated by many on here....

So long as it still says late April, it's late April. I'd like to hear some reassuring noises about 3G's though I must admit.

If more then one person has the same opinion..surely thats telling you something?

Everyone is allowed a view on this...like you are..but not everyone can cough up £500+ in 2 weeks, like you..

The base model 15" has gone up by $100 in the US which explains some of that huge rise.

Anyone who was expecting the iPad to start at less than £399 was living in cloud cuckoo land.

Anyone heard anything else about apple workers not being able to take day off on 24th? I dont know if its all stores or just some that has done this but I know some have but I havent heard why and I dont know if any of the workers know why yet.

Anyone? Anyone heard any things that point it not being that date even?

Why are people saying "there's 17 days left in April still!"?????? Do you honestly think Apple are going to turn around one day and say hey, iPads are out now and this is the price! Go buy em!

There'd be no media build up, nobody would be able to plan or save, nothing. No company releases a product out of nowhere without warning or price.. The point is to meet a late April release Apple has to announce details in mid April, which is almost over, hence cutting it fine..

Exactly. Everybody gets that it is being released at the "end of April". What we don't get is the lack of an actual date, price or means of purchase. Those three things are normally vital, don't you think?
So, if the US customers were told almost 4 weeks in advance that preorders could be made 3 weeks in advance (as well as knowing pricing a couple of months in advance, along with how the 3G/data plans work!) what's wrong with being concerned because we still know jack s**t here?

I promised myself I wouldn't do this I had a moment of weakness and put a bid in for a 64 GB 0 I will not go over my maximum for an ebay purchase. And its not a stupid amount of money either. Only 2 days to wait now! :)
