Why are people saying "there's 17 days left in April still!"?????? Do you honestly think Apple are going to turn around one day and say hey, iPads are out now and this is the price! Go buy em!

There'd be no media build up, nobody would be able to plan or save, nothing. No company releases a product out of nowhere without warning or price.. The point is to meet a late April release Apple has to announce details in mid April, which is almost over, hence cutting it fine..

Someone finally talking sense!

17 days is absolutely nothing, and you cannot even count the week after next, cause that'll be the so-called launch week!

Quoting for truth.

LOL another one!

They told you end of April. What's wrong with that? You've got two more weeks to save your pennies and get excited. If come the end of April they say, "Sorry, we meant middle of May" then you can get huffy. Until then stop acting like Mr Jobs touched you in your special place ;)

I think you missed the point.

Just simply pointing out Apples priorities towards the US Market and the rest of us-even though the majority of their profits are made outside of there.

:( I was hoping to pre-order a 64GB today too. Oh well, at least I've ordered my Wifes laptop in the meantime... a tad more expensive than an iPad, eek.

Just received my 64gb from an UK based ebay seller. Ordered on inpulse last Thursday and was quite worried as the images were stock and the tracking info sent on Friday retuned a 'no information' until this morning - that said the dealer was an established importer and seemed reputable.

I think it was worth it, really nice device, paid £649 for it, I don't think we'll see the UK price below £600 for the 64gb, even more so given the new MacBook prices.

Who was that with, may i ask?

Exactly. Everybody gets that it is being released at the "end of April". What we don't get is the lack of an actual date, price or means of purchase. Those three things are normally vital, don't you think?
So, if the US customers were told almost 4 weeks in advance that preorders could be made 3 weeks in advance (as well as knowing pricing a couple of months in advance, along with how the 3G/data plans work!) what's wrong with being concerned because we still know jack s**t here?

Spot on! That is precisely what is p***ing me off about Apple. I know I won't get one for another 2-3 weeks, but I would like to know the price etc.

Aren't Apple the only company who do just release something out of the blue with no media build up? That's why this site exists.

I bought a black and white iPod (remember them) and two days later the launched the iPod Colour with no prior warning, no pre-order, nothing - just out of the blue. I never knew about Mac Rumors then - but there was no media build up, no retailer knowledge.

I bought a Smokey Grey Clamshell iBook way back when. Got it from Micro Anvika. A week later the higher rez, sexier, white iBook came out at a cheaper price with a faster processor. I didn't know about Mac Rumors back then, and there was no media build up. It came out of the blue as far as I was concerned.

I just bought a 17" MBP - fortunately I knew about Mac Rumors and knew to wait until today for the new Quad Core model. There was no media build up, no coming soon, had it not been for Mac Rumors it would have come out of the blue. Not only that, but it's not a pre-order it's for immediate dispatch and my Wife will have it tomorrow - Friday at the latest.

So yeah, I kinda figure that one Tuesday before the end of the month - maybe next week, maybe the following, we'll see an instant release of the iPad for immediate delivery. No pre-order. We already have the "Coming Soon" - for the past couple of months - very un-Apple!

Wow :apple: realy sucks …*this has to be the most ****ed up apple launch in europe ever. I really feel like a "not so important" customer …***** this

What about duty and taxes? How much? TNT bill you for that a couple of weeks afterwards but UPS and FedEx usually want it up front.

Hi all, been reading this thread since the beginning(of time)and can safetly say its like curling up with a good book.its very heartwarming to listen to everyone getting excited about the imminent?? release of the ipad in the uk only to find its not as imminent as we'd all hoped.I haven't posted up to now because
all my queries have been asked/answered by you all in one way or another..obviously we're all in the same boat ;)
I,d just like to try and lift everyones spirit a little bit by reminding you all of something one of the foremost minds of our time (lord percy from blackadder)
once said..."don't look so down...think of sunshine and daisies, and the smiles on little babies faces" :D

indeed...after this i've just ordered one from the US...£630, guaranteed here by Thursday or Friday!

If i have to pay VAT...so be it but tbh its worth the bother of not having to queue for hours given how unlikely pre orders are looking as the days go on!

Back to eBay to get some US iTunes cards!!

Can you imagine what this thread would look like to someone who is 'normal'? 100 pages of discussion by grown adults about the release of a technology product. It really does make us look a bit sad. Despite that I've got a 64gb on the way, I'm still eager to find out the prices for the 3G...plus I'm ticked off about the Macbook updates which were shockingly drab.

So someone who likes gadgets/technology and is debating about how a specific market is being treated unfairly, isn't normal.

What a stupid thing to say.

The base model 15" has gone up by $100 in the US which explains some of that huge rise.

Anyone who was expecting the iPad to start at less than £399 was living in cloud cuckoo land.

But the 13inch hasn't changed price at all in the US so it doesn't explain the extra 81 quid on that.

I've been expecting a price nearer 439 for the 16gb iPad for some time now. Anything less and I'll be happy.

i agree …*we arent whining because we dont have the ipad yet we are because apple ignores its european fans

To be fair to Apple, they're not ignoring Europeans - they're ignoring everyone who isn't American.

true …*i always liked apple for NOT doing things like this (other companys love to do **** like this though) but well i dont like this launch at all

lol why? He was being self-deprecating.

erm...basically anyone who doesn't come on this forum generally and reads it, thinks we're all stupid for debating over this product?

Thats like saying..anything anyone does, which someone doesn't generally do or believe in..is stupid, surely?

I'm over it now..haha :D
