Due to events ^, all I have to say now is:

I think it says iPad Air 4th Gen with at least 256GB and iPad Pro M1 On Apple’s website.what a shame they they don't make this available to iPads with 4-6GB RAM that need it most....
you are right, wow so the 2020 pro does not get it but the 2020 air does...I think it says iPad Air 4th Gen with at least 256GB and iPad Pro M1 On Apple’s website.

He is right "Available on iPad Air (4th generation) with a minimum of 256GB storage, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation) and iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation)."Air 5th gen (M1/8GB), not 4th gen (A14/4GB).

Yes (sorry I had a phone call) https://www.apple.com/ipados/ipados-16-preview/features/ (note 19)Do you have a link? The press release only mentions the M1.
iPadOS 16 takes the versatility of iPad even further
Apple today previewed iPadOS 16, a major update that makes the iPad experience even more versatile.www.apple.com

I actually hope they extend this to more 256GB iPads instead of backtracking, although to be honest we don't even know how this will be implemented. Will this be a system-wide feature or will it be a feature only certain apps will be able to use? (so no improvements on reloads in general). At this point I would not assume it will be the same as on desktop or even on as on Android....Interesting. Looks like all they need is A14 so theoretically, the iPad mini 6 should have the pre-requisites to support swap as well. Here’s hoping they don’t backtrack and take away support later down the line.

Probably, but my guess is that with 4GB RAM virtual memory swap would use the disk more so 256GB is safer in terms of wear. They could have done the same for the 2018 iPad and allow it on the 2020 one from the entry 128GB model. But for some reason they chose not too... I wonder how much faster is the disk on the air 4 compared to the pro 2018/2020, if at all...I think 128GB is probably the minimum. The Air 4 just happens to come in 64GB and 256GB configurations only.
That's ok. We have monitor support now. I gotta watch the iPadOS segment again...You think? I doubt it. People will now realize that "hey, having multiple windows on 11 inch screen is not as good as I thought". iPad Pro 12.9" owners will be happy I guess.
umm, you are familiar with the App Store? there are a lot of "Pro" things you can do with apps there. from phot editing to video editing. Just saying, all condescension asideWhy label something as "Pro", when the software won't let you do pro stuff. What person would buy and use iPad "Pro" just for reading/browsing and video/music playing?!?
Back to the undefined pro argument? ”Pro” is not the same as compute intensitive tasks. Some of us uses our own brain to do Pro work. No need for complex software or complex computers. Why label something as "Pro", when the software won't let you do pro stuff. Well, just forwarding videos doesn't feel like a "pro" use case.I use my first generation 10.5 inch iPad Pro more than my laptop or even the desktop. Cannot say that there is a better device made that can replace a laptop computer. I am a commercial drone pilot and the drone uses my iPhone for the camera view, and any needed video I get I can airdrop it to the iPad and immediately send it to the customer so I get paid within minutes. Also thinking about getting an iPad air m1 and using my 10.5 pro for the drone as well, would need to get a tablet mount for the controller, but that would make it even easier to work with.
As civil engineer I have no use (I want to, but the software won't allow the pro apps I need for my work) and my GF as an IT developer also finds no use (she wants to, but the software won't allow her to install the bunch of pro apps). What does "pro" stand for then?!?Back to the undefined pro argument? ”Pro” is not the same as compute intensitive tasks. Some of us uses our own brain to do Pro work. But back to your main question: Because we can afford it. Doing brain intensive work is often associated with higher salary
No offence, just wondering about the kind of people, using such expensive high-end tech as cutting board

Peak apple misleading advertisement and deceiving marketing to lure people in. That is all.Why label something as "Pro", when the software won't let you do pro stuff. What a retard would buy and use iPad "Pro" just for reading/browsing and video/music playing?!?
It stands for "our best model".As civil engineer I have no use (I want to, but the software won't allow the pro apps I need for my work) and my GF as an IT developer also finds no use (she wants to, but the software won't allow her to install the bunch of pro apps). More likely "our most expensive, but not so useful model" ;-)It stands for "our best model".
