People who have an older Mini; is the jelly in Landscape on the old Mini's less noticeable than the jelly in portrait on the new Mini? I don't mean less noticeable because you use landscape less, but is it less noticeable when in landscape than the Mini 6's jelly is in portrait?

Because I'm mostly a landscape user, but it still is absolutely nauseating to me when using Portrait. Is landscape on the older Mini's that bad?
Mini 5 in landscape (don't mind the cracked screen - happened a month ago and was waiting for the new models...) It seems about the same to me as the video I've seen of the 6 in portrait.

Also, for those who said it has never been this bad in any previous iPad, I also present my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 in portrait mode

I think it is going to come down to if you use landscape more, get the 6, if you use portrait more and don't care about the extra features get the 5.

Btw - I don't find it nauseating in either orientation - I accept that the tech as it stands today is going to be funky in one or the other.

c'mon folks. is it really that of a big deal? do you guys really use/read/whatever your ipad when you are scrolling?

does this even affect gaming? does this affect movies or videos? i mean why would you be scrolling during a video to notice.

So this is most noticeable during static content when scrolling. does it in any way or form affect the content when it's not scrolling?

oh look, i notice the 'jelly' when im only scrolling. it's those psychological defects that get amplified by social media.

Tell that to these guys using their iPad in portrait in mission critical ways..
(this is from the Apple video announcement of these -- that's "little Tim Cook" down there at the bottom)

ok, using a static screenshot doesn't prove your point.

This pilot is using the ipad mini 5
. Around the 11:20 mark -- woah a lot of scrolling here./s lol. There's not really that much scrolling interaction with ipads during flight.

Is scrolling not the most used interaction with the screen, from feeds to articles to email to text conversations, to webpages, etc.? Is one supposed to close their eyes when scrolling until the text is static?
Uhh, the most used interaction is just viewing the screen. What content are you consuming that you can only use it while scrolling? You must like reading long text websites but only while scrolling.

"Is one supposed to close their eyes when scrolling until the text is static?" the jelly scroll hurts your eyes? the jelly scroll makes texts unreadable during the scroll? what is your point here? I'm sure you wouldn't have noticed the jelly scroll had these tech sites not reported it.

You may continue this 1st world outrage. lol.

When text is misaligned yes it is more difficult to read in transit

turns into a ransom message instead of horizontal text

I prefer not feeling on psychedelics involuntarily
What I want to know is that same text misaligned when the screen is not scrolling?

Again, enlighten me if I'm misinformed but what real world case use example has you reading texts during the scroll?

Tablet speed reading a thing?

Have you ever used social media? News? Google? It all looks terrible when scrolling. yeah if you only watch videos I guess you’re fine….

I am a pilot

Picking the wrong fight here my friend
let's take your word here that you are a pilot.

Can you please explain how this jelly scroll is affecting your use during flight? How does this jelly scroll make this ipad unusable for pilots?

does it give you vertigo or disorient you that it could affect your in-flight performance? what content are you using/reading that is unusable during this jelly scroll?

No - I'm not going to explain it to you, sorry.
I've already covered the pilot angle on this earlier today on the forum.

This hasn't gotten off to a great start and I'm not inclined to go deeper with you on this.

(especially when you start with "take your word that you are a pilot" - sod off with that start to a message man)

Gotcha. This jelly scroll is a 'looks terrible' problem. Only noticeable during scrolling. I guess the content you are scrolling past needs to look good when you scroll past it.

Then why point out how this affects mission critical use by pilots but can't explain how jelly scrolling affects pilots? I also wasn't trying to be smart about that pilot remark.

I did my own Google search and found this excellent website:

Very informative. I watched the whole video and some others by this site.

In the actual usage, I'm not seeing how jelly scrolling would affect pilots in-flight performance.

It's fine if you can't explain.

They also show this picture as an example of an app in use in flight. I'm not a pilot so I don't know which orientation makes more sense, but in the case of the app below there wouldn't be jellyness in landscape on a mini 6.

I appreciate the effort - I use Foreflight daily for work - in portrait nearly always

Please just trust me on this - it's a major regression for this usage

what do you do on an iPad? Play Minecraft? Have you ever read anything? You scroll down as you read.

I'm also reading the posts on this thread on my broken ipad mini 6 (lol) on portrait layout. Jelly scrolling doesn't scramble the words. I'm sure you don't read the posts or articles while the text is in motion during a scroll. You read when you get to the section you stop the scrolling on. Anything else like images or video, doesn't get affected by this jelly scroll.

You shouldn’t even have to explain it. Why should pilots have to deal with a flawed product because someone on the internet says you don’t need to scroll while you fly. What if you wanted to use it when you’re not flying. I don’t understand these people trying to advertise other uses for it. The problem is there’s a problem. Shouldn’t have to adapt to it.

I can tell you are one of those people that pull the 'Apple cult/fanboy card' right away when cornered or have weak arguments. It's also funny you call people Apple cultists while in an Apple site/forum. lol. What does that make you?

Yes I scroll and read and flip back and forth to different sections of webpages etc. I’m actually curious to see how you even use a iphone or tablet in the way you expect me to.

So I need to scroll not too fast and not too slow, no portrait if I want to, and if it bothers me im doing something wrong? Anything else? This iPad should have came with directions.

you’re literally telling me how to use the tech. I do read some text when in motion.
