I go to Starbucks all the time and yes I bring the 12.9 IPP. And an Apple magic keyboard (not Smart Keyboard cover) so it looks like I've set up a mini desktop. Ive gotten some wows from people wishing they had one, but nobody thought it was weird.
So there I was at Starbucks today minding my own business when some guy had the audacity to pull out a 12.9 inch iPad Pro! We immediately began throwing tomatoes at him and pointed while laughing hysterically.
You are injecting your bias in to your description of him, it's roughly the size of a 13 MBP,it's what he WANTS, and HAS, APPARENTLY SO DO YOU! You are aware the medical community uses them A LOT! Grow up SonHonestly I have never seen a ridiculous 12.9 iPad Pro at Starbucks the only time I ever saw one in Public was a medical student or MD in scrubs holding one at a Mall Foodcourt and he looked ridiculous and he looked uncomfortable.
I don't bring my 9'7 Pro anywhere, it stays at home. My 7+ made up for my need of a bigger screen on the go.
For me, it was mostly because AppleCare doesn't cover theft.
No but most home insurance does (you have to have it added).
I agree. The ridicule and shame that I experience every time I lug mine into the local Starbucks has really had an effect on my self-esteem. OK, so carrying a 12.9 iPad Pro is like walking with a windshield from a Mini Cooper under my arm. Does that mean that I'm less of a person? Is that a license to point at me and snicker with derision?
(the above is obviously sarcasm)
My 12.9 iPad Pro, clear skin covering the back, and ASK is thinner and lighter than an MBP. When I need access to macOS, I can use my Citrix X1 mouse with my iPP to connect to my iMac... or use the touch interface. Jump Desktop does a terrific job with implementing touch to control the mouse. It has been the most portable and flexible notebook-like device that I've owned so far.
PULEESE! What do you people care so much about what people think?OP is correct. You're not supposed to bring the 12.9 iPad Pro to Starbucks unless your want to look weird.
I'm sitting in a starbucks right now using one!

I was going through my Dropbox photos and I stumbled across the old photo of the guy with a full desktop setup including a modem and landline phone. At least he didn't have an iPad Pro.
Is that you in the picture? I asked because this dude doesn't care about the picture was taken.
Wait, if your phone is on the table... and your iPad Pro is there.... what are you taking the picture with?
Having seen people with full blown monitors at my local starbucks (connected to laptops) I wouldn't have a problem bringing my iPad Air 2 to a Starbucks. I see plenty of 17' old Windows laptops that look like they're ready to fall apart - I can't imagine lugging those around in a backpack all day. Makes my back ache to think about it.

I can't bring my new MacBook Pro to Starbucks because the amount of adapters it needs to connect my devices takes up the whole table!! GASP.
That isn't an iPad Pro in your attached picture. No iPad bezels are the same width on all sides anymore. Symmetrical bezel widths went away with the iPad Air.So there I was at Starbucks today minding my own business when some guy had the audacity to pull out a 12.9 inch iPad Pro! I don't leave mine out there, it rests on the sink, leaving it unattended not an optionJust don't take it into the Starbucks commode; that'll seem a bit awkward
