So, I’ve applied the white marble dbrand frame skin on my iPad. Pretty easy to install and I like the way it turned out overall (I’ve attached some photos). Yes, I have a cellular iPad so the SIM slot is now covered up, but I don’t ever plan on using a physical SIM anyways and now I don’t have to worry about the Pencil potentially making marks on the side of my iPad when connected (see
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-pencil-2-scratchgate-on-side-ipad-pro-2018.2173251/).
One thing I noticed during the installation was the cutouts on the top frame piece weren’t 100% precise, but more like 97% or 98%. I followed their YouTube video where they instruct you to align the middle portion first, which would be the cutouts for the two top mics. After doing that I found I had to stretch out both ends of the skin by a fraction of a mm (yes, it’s stretchable!) to make the speaker holes align better. This wasn’t an issue for the left side as there weren’t any other cutouts to worry about.
However, for the right side, I had to make sure the buttons still fell into place, and I realized there was just a tad too much space between the cutouts for the right speaker grills and power button. Therefore, in an effort to align the speaker grills as best as possible, I had to stretch the right side to the point where the cutouts for the volume buttons almost didn’t align anymore. This resulted in the upper right frame piece having to be shifted down just a tad close to the Pencil connector, as you can see in the photo I have for it. There may have been a small error on my part somewhere in the process overall, but I’m by no means fussed about it, as I think I did quite well for a first time skin applier and I’m very satisfied with the outcome. Looking forward to rocking this look for years to come.
