I didn’t get one either, only when it shipped. I saw my credit card had been charged so I checked my Apple order page And saw it was “preparing”.
I think your card gets charged when it moves to preparing to ship (unless you get it engraved), and it moves pretty quickly from “preparing” to “shipped.” When it ships and there’s a tracking number, you get a notification. Those of us with the Aug 5-12 timeline should (hopefully) see this happen this week. The wait is almost over!
I have the iPad mini 3, which I basically just use as a Kindle at this point, so this isn’t even an upgrade — it’s a completely new piece of technology for me and I’m chomping at the bit.

I hear you. I think I'm going to go clinically insane if something doesn't change to preparing to ship soon.

Great! The pattern I'm seeing, now, is that they move to "preparing to ship" 8 days before the earliest date in the arrival window. That leaves we Aug 12-19ers about a week out.
Sorry to break your theory, but mine is showing 'Arrives 3 Aug - 10 Aug' and still processing (12.9")
The freight delays that are disrupting iPhone assembly in India are unrelated to iPad shipping delays for customers in the USA.
I already have gone Clinically Insane. I did when I ordered it and saw the August 5-12 Delivery Date.

I'm a week away from when it's supposedly supposed to deliver. Nothing. No Preparing to Ship, nothing. At this point I might as well wait another week.

I'm honestly at the point, with the wait, that I'm super bitter and just over the whole thing. Someone made a comment that the excitement is just gone and I honestly feel that so much. I get that the situation can't be helped, but I've been talking myself out of buying an IPP since March, and when I finally bit the bullet and made the purchase, they hit me with a month wait.

My 11" Silver 256GB just moved from Processing to Preparing to Ship over the last 22 minutes or so. Ordered on 7/1. Finally. This is the first time I got all the accessories before the main event!

Nope. It has not shipped yet. Just the sub-glacial speed from Processing to Preparing to Ship.
My 12.9 iPP 512 WiFi is still on its way, but the delivery date keeps getting delayed. It shipped on 21 July, spent a couple days in China and then spent five days in Korea with no movement! It was supposed to be delivered tomorrow, then Thursday, and now its showing as Friday. I’m hoping as it hits Alaska the date will revert back to maybe Thursday. It was ordered on 1 July.
