Not necessarily tax specific but general PDF form filling and signing which is common and basic. Not every form has an associated app. Just had to sign my insurance which is web/pdf based. For tax, app is inferior to the web version of TurboTax anyway but on iPad which doesn't have a full desktop browser you have to settle for app.

PDF Expert works fine for me with most PDF forms (including IRS Form 1040, it seems).

Only exception I've encountered thus far was USCIS Form N-400 for which I needed Adobe Acrobat Reader for desktop to even render. Mind, I believe USCIS has an online application form which works on mobile devices now.

There are subscription apps that can edit it but it's still jumping through more hoops and a worse experience. I've tried FoxIt PDF subscription app and it's a PITA like shown in the YouTube video where I have to jump through multiple hoops to separately create a signature image, paste it, resize it, etc. vs signing the document directly with full desktop browser that even a $250 ChromeOS device can do easily. Don't have time for trial and error that still ends up with a worse experience. Full desktop browser almost always beat apps for work flow, reliability, full feature and security.

I feel MacOS is coming to iPad Pro but it's not fully baked yet. It's something Apple has to do to compete with other devices on the market and stay relevant. iPadOS is just too dumbed down with training wheels. WWDC release sounds about right since iPadOS apps are already running on M1 Macbooks minus touch and pen inputs which the M1 iPad Pro has.
I used to be all for macOS coming to the iPad now I don’t know if it’s the best idea. I think getting pro programs on the iPad and making a solid iPadOS is the way to go. I do agree with you tho iPadOS is not great. Out of curiosity what do you think the big thing missing from iPadOS is? Im sure there’s probably a lot but what’s your main thing

Yes - Mac apps (same way Macs are now running iPad apps) is the way forward. Just add apps with the requisite back end API functionality as icons and when they’re run they can require/use a keyboard and mouse as needed and can run full screen, like iPad apps run in windows on a Mac.

He is right An iPad Pro is extremely limited.

To make an iPad Pro work, you basically need to use the cloud, so you are basically using an other computer on your computer / iPad.

It is why I wait for this year WWDC before ordering one, because if it is still going to be the same software, then upgrading is pointless.

Completely untrue. I don't use the cloud and I'm on my third iPad model (12.9 Pro) and use it extensively.

ipad is just not a replacement of laptop, not expecting it can do anything. Most people just watch youtube and web browsing with it anyway.

I ran into a workflow issue today on my pro from trying to copy and paste an attachment from an email into a new email. Was a nightmare. Things like this should not be that difficult. The video raises some good points.
That's all I was trying to say in my original post. The truth is, Apple has given the iPad Pro so much processing and graphics performance but has limited the capabilities through iPadOS. With that said, iPadOS offers plenty for a lot of people to completely replace their traditional computers. It depends on the work flow. If I didn't need macOS for school related stuff, I would just have an iPad Pro 12.9 and Magic Keyboard combo.

Doesn't make economic nor practical sense to develop two different apps when you can focus energy and resources on one. Plus, limitations that are iPadOS imposed can't be fixed with app only.

I'm certain this video was posted twice because it was believed there would be humorous reactions.

Fortunately this is incorrect ?. The iPad can be made contributing to many outcomes without a connection to the internet. Most Photoshop and Illustrator features are available while offline.

I was skeptical about buying an 11 inch M1 because I considered it a waste of money, give what can this do my 10.5 can’t? i am hoping big time on some news with iPad OS in June.

All you need to do is long tap on the attachment, then tap Mail from the share panel that opens. Just did it now on my iPad to make sure.
