I'm in the clear of the Korea route and I realize that did not stop there (Yes TechGuy I read what you take the time to write ;) ) but I'm still getting a kick out of all this. It's fun. :D

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Thank you for your recent purchase of the magical and revolutionary
Apple iPad.

We would like to advise you Saturday delivery is not available in your
area.

Your order will be delivered on Monday April 5th.

For up-to-date information on your order, please visit our Order
Status website at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus.

Sincerely,
The Apple Store Team

Yes, Apple did note during the preorder about the potential for a Monday delivery but they clearly did not state which carrier they would be using. Apple normally uses FedEx for shipping (and they do deliver in my area on Saturday if the service is payed for) so I assumed that is what they'd be using. UPS as far as I can remember has never delivered on Saturdays in my area so if Apple had clearly stated they would be using UPS, I would not have even bothered to preorder and would have waited until Amazon started selling it so that I can save on the sales tax.

Called the closest Apple Store which is around 20 miles from where I live and it looks like UPS is at least delivering the iPad's that had been reserved for pickup to the stores. This sort of is proof that UPS here in my city sucks.

At this juncture, I'm probably just going to refuse to take delivery and ask Apple for a refund (this way, they'll at least know their shipping partner is partly to blame and that maybe next time, they can be a bit more specific about who the shipper will be in the first place).

My current status, it is supposed to be delivered in Richmond, VA which is the location of a sorting facility so I wonder if it is just going to catch a later plane.

I haz the same status, mine is supposed to be delivered to Pittsburgh...

Just another perspective on the Louisville KY aspect of this thing from someone who does quite a bit of international shipping and importing...

A scan at Louisville, KY is not a physical scan. Louisville is simply used for customs paperwork. The packages do not go to Kentucky. The physical package goes to Anchorage. A package can be in another country and still have a Louisville scan if the paperwork is electronically transmitted...which it is in 95% of international UPS shipments.

reread what you just said... they never EVER go to KY?

The only thing that the packages were NOT in KY for, but the scans showed up as were:

The Borkerage and Hold scan, and the "internal Activity" scans.

other than that, like sayin "All roads lead to Rome?" well all UPS Packages lead to KY WorldPort :D

ugh!!! how is this POSSIBLE? I ordered in the first half hour, before most of the people who ARE getting theirs tomorrow!

so incredibly angry at apple and ups right now!

Take it with a grain of salt... you didn't talk to UPS. He may be lying because he wants to get a rise out of anxious forum posters. Just wait and see...

Watch the WorldPort video to pass the time and teach you stufffssss about UPS :) : http://www.sling.com/video/show/195766/81/UPS-Worldport

Oh noes, we broke him!

Rut roh! Haha
*hug*

This is turning into a white knuckled evening for me... I'm trying to stay optimistic, but the skeptic in me has doubts that my "Korean Flight of Doom" bound iPad has hit Kentucky yet - doesn't seem like anyone else is having scanning delays in KY, are they?

There may be great mourning in central Mass tomorrow...

TechDude, you're awesome - keep up the good work!

Just called UPS International service since mine isn't moving or changing like everybody else. The guy who answered said I needed to call the International number (which I confirmed that I did). He said, "Wow, guess there are so many calls that they are rolling over to us in domestic now". He got me to a person in international who confirmed that if you have a status of exception, and the scan is still in China, that it will be delivered by 5:00pm Monday. They said I should expect to see updated tracking on my Monday delivery by sometime tomorrow afternoon. Even though UPS can't keep up with the tracking, Apple is taking the black eye on this for using UPS for a Saturday launch. They REALLY should have specified UPS would be the carrier so we could have made an educated decision on whether to ship to home, or to local store. Guess I will entertain myself Monday talking to Apple customer service while I wait for my iPad to show up mid-afternoon.

Am I the only one that looks like it hasnt touched base in the USA yet? I went through quite a few pages and havent seen any other tracking like mine. I have not gone through ALL posts here...but everyone else who posted their tracking results is in the US somewhere....

Anyone in the same boat as me? Or know if I should be concerned? Its weird that the dates arent in order...and it's shown this same thing since yesterday morning at 8AM EST, which was odd because it wasnt even 4/2 yet in China either.

Mines exactly the same... and it seems everyone that was on flight 21 is the same. I find it hard to believe that nothing has happened with these packages... so my hope is that they just aren't updating in scans... similarly to what is currently happening with the KR people.

Hopefully... because if my iPad is going to be here tomorrow I think it has to leave Kentucky in the next 3 hours to even be cutting it close.

My Last Question Before I Leave For The Night -

If My iPad Status Is Still Showing "LOUISVILLE, KY, US ARRIVAL SCAN" can it still make it to Pittsburgh by tomorrow?

Welcome to the Korea Flight of Doom. BTW, there are apparently TWO Koreas... (just giving you the heads up - there are some cranky geography teachers on board with us). Welcome aboard.

There are lots of us on this status, and if I'm understanding the WordEase system, this scan is the last scan before the packages get broken up individually and aren't scanned as a large group... I'm entirely uneducated in this and just making wild guesses, but I'd wager that our packages haven't just been standing still for almost 9 hours now, and instead something went awry with the tracking update when this break down happened.

Put your tracking # in here:

You're on the Flight of Doom. Just read back a few pages.

There's still a chance it'll all be fine.

Dad?!?!?!?!?!
Is that you Dad?!??!?!?!?!

Haha. GOD DAMN IT SON, WHY YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO CALL OUT TO ME?! YOU ARE WORSE THAN THE HURT KIDS ON THE WARFIELD! BACK WHEN I WAS IN NAM... :D
Calm down, Dude. :) Deep breathes. In... out... in... out. Keep it together.:p

I am no longer hyperventilating :)

Haha I agree... but for someone who has basically turned into a pseudo - UPS Manager here, its definitely interesting... DAMN! I should be getting paid for this... I am saving UPS money by having less people calling them!

REMEMBER! AGAIN! (not going to the war screams lol)

They are saying BY Monday. If your call went automatically to the domestic dept. after you put your info in, it does it only because you called more than twice on the same status on the package... and it doesnt discern the different types of packages it just kicks you to someone.

But remember, BY monday, not ON Monday. They are reading the package note saying that they will be delivered BY MONDAY! So if you have intl. Saturday Delivery in your area, you will have it then

Remember people, these UPS operators are not going to look SPECIFICALLY at your package, because there is NO delivery date on them - just the notes from Apple saying by Monday... and Satruday delivery for those who have it....

Remember they are covering their arses

What if you show a departure scan in China? Does this still apply?

This is driving me nuts!

Yes. Either it has already taken a flight out or will leave on the next flight out around 3-4 AM. Good night!
