iPad shipped, Apple just sent out tracking numbers!

Okay guys... apparently UPS has some mystical routes they used.

They just got my iPad from Milwaukee to the local facility in Green Bay in either 30 minutes, or 1 hour (depending on if it left at the Departed scan or the Updated Departed scan). Either way that's a two hour drive that I make all the time... I need to figure out what route they use!

I called UPS to find out if it was out for delivery or not, because it hasn't updated in 2 hours since it was marked as "arrival scan" in Houston. UPS rep automatically said, "You're receiving the Apple iPad" ....creepy!

They have until 3PM today "or shortly after" to give me that package. D'oh!

Time is going to stand still until then :-(

Everytime I called they referred to it as my iPad. I am sure they will be glad when this weekend is over and they have to stop answering all our phone calls to where our iPad is.

My friend a few miles away just called, he just got his. According to UPS we are both still en route to the nearest hub.

Haha, now I'm going to spend X amount of time wondering if (against all logic and probability) I missed the truck when I left for 15 minutes going to the grocery store an hour agp...even though I left the signature form on the door and UPS always leaves packages on the porch even without one.

Meanwhile, my friend just texted me: "I WIN!". Even though I ordered five minutes before him. Is this justice? I ask you.

They're probably using your iPad to map the route.

OK…I haven't received mine yet, but it's about 3 miles away.

I've read a lot of griping about UPS and gnashing of teeth, and in the end, what they have to pull off to deliver these devices is pretty incredible.

So, as Apple fans, let's make sure that other companies aren't annoyed by us, and give a big shout out to UPS for being a part of this today.

P.S. You might also want to set out a plate of milk and cookies for the driver. ;-)

Yeah their tracking is screwed up, I checked my status and it was showing my iPad in Richmond, VA at 7am then at 7:46am it was at the Chantilly, VA hub. I've driven to Richmond before, it's about 100 miles away, even if the UPS truck is driven by speed racer there's no way it's making it from Richmond to Chantilly unless there's some super secret UPS only route lol.

You may not see "Out For Delivery" before delivery.

There is a fair amount of anecdotal info now in the Big Shipping Thread that orders are beginning to arrive via UPS without tracking status being updated to Out For Delivery. A friend of mine a short distance away received his even though we both show as being en route to the local hub still. Just a heads up if you're pondering leaving the house--at the very least put up your signature release form.

I'm in L.A. but my iPad has to come through Ontario. Never have received anything new other than the departure scan. Usually it is is Gardena by 4:00am or sooner and shortly out for delivery after that! Getting a little frazzled.

Ordered within 5 min but UPS now on MOnday BS

UPS just rescheduled my delivery for Monday. This is Houston, TX, third largest city in the country, and UPS delivers here on Saturday, yet despite ordering within 5 minutes of it going on sale, I'll now be forced to wait, when I could just walk into the apple store and get it today...
