They told me that Apple is really paranoid about the iPad, more so than any other Apple product thus far.

Not to poop in the punch, but I wonder if this has anything to do with why Apple is so paranoid about anyone handling an iPad before the whole world gets one at the same time? Maybe it's to avoid a shipping injunction. Since no one has one, hard to prove your case of patent infringement.????

I sure hope not.

Probably Louisville, KY. That's where most UPS flights from PANC go in the lower 48.

Louisville is a central hub for UPS. They have a huge facility there. I saw a special about UPS on CNBC its pretty remarkable on how that center operates with efficiency.

If the rumor is to be believed, and more than likely true, Apple is not using WorldEase and is instead withholding customs info to hold back the earlier shipments.

But my tracking statement says "WorldEase" under Product.

Others have reported that the "Service downgraded" thing is meaning no Sat delivery is available in my area, yet others say that Apple has made sure deliveries will be done on Sat. I guess we will find out what happens.

Yep, that's because it IS World Ease. Guess some folks just like to blow air ;)

That's pretty epic. Did you take those just now?

The pics were taken right around 1 pm the flight landed about 10 minutes earlier than flightaware stated. they were hauling the shipments over to the processing facility and other awaiting planes. My co-workers are making fun of me but I dont care:) and one of them is kicking herself in the butt for not pre ordering

here are a couple of photos of our iPads coming of the plane in AK. If you guys think you are having a tough time waiting at least your iPad isn't sitting just down the street :(

Yeah . . . . I see mine! I know it's mine because the case is marked :D

Just had a horrifying thought . . . what if you opened your box only to find your shiny new iPad DOA

Dude, I have a question, lets say you saw your iPad. Will you be able to take yours home today?

It has to go to KSDF (Louisville, KY).

That is where it completes customs checks and clearance into the U.S.

Then it goes out to the lower 48 and HI and AK.

The flight out of Guangzhou was a MD-11 (UPS31). So, that would probably make the aircraft you saw UPS63, out of Hong Kong, which was a 747-400. They both landed about the same time in Anchorage.

Great pics, though!

You are right... and actually even on those photos the other member took, you can see the 747 Paint say "World Services."

I PERSONALLY believe they are using WorldEase, but that was a rumor that they weren't. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

And even on Apple's site it says "If Saturday delivery is not available in your area, will deliver Monday April 5th." So sorry if that happens to be you :( And most likely it is, because it says "not available in that area..." And thats UPS's system rejecting that service type and reforming it, so you may even have two labels on your package depending on how your local facility will handle it.

good luck tho! :D

Agreed :)

MD-11s are pretty sweet aircraft, too. But the 747 are tried and true heavy-haulers :)

Not the end of the world if I don't get it until Monday. The wife doesn't care for tech stuff so won't be opening it for me. :)

Haha he wishes xD

They haven't cleared customs yet lol.

I wish I could just walk out and claim it... :D

But thats how the system works.

Yes, yes I do! I split because I was getting a few funny looks from the ramp workers as they were driving by. I am not sure if they all go to KY from here, that seems like a waste of time and resources to ship mine out and back a couple of days later. I would take it now and save them the trouble

cool my iPad was in that plane too..I think i see my box...

BTW is it me or are the boxes in the pallet in the third pic look like they were stacked by a 5 year old?

DUDE! Make an unboxing video!!! You'll be the first person on the planet! Put it on YouTube!!!

What sucks is mine went prepared shippng yesterday but still hasn't shipped:... It makes me think that there is a stock of ipads in the us waiting to ship out....

Do you guys think that there's Saturday delivery in Manhattan, NY? Sorry, I'm just a bit paranoid. LOL.

Go to UPS.com, create a shipment estimate from "calculate time and cost" from a zipcode outside your area, have it estimate shipping on Friday to your zipcode. If the estimates show a Saturday option, then yes.

Also, if you don't have the dreaded "service selected is not available to the designation address" item in your tracking status it indicates that you should expect Saturday delivery.

D'oh! I saw the other planes sitting there just didn't take pics I assumed it we the 747 since it was an international flight. You know what happens when you assume
