quick question:
do you know if there is a way to check online if UPS delivers on saturdays in my area?
I have this funny thing where i don't like to talk to people over the phone...

Look through this post its on page like 22 or something but simply go to ups and act like your shpping a package and put a random zip code for the from and yours to the to and select ship on friday and if it show saturday as an option then u do!

Okay, here's what to do, go on UPS.com and click on "Calculate time and Cost," then, package, weight: 3 pounds ship from: United States, random zipcode that's NOT yours. (90210
), and Ship to: Your zip code. Say you're going to ship on Friday, and select UPS NEXT DAY AIR EARLY AM. And if it says, Saturday 4/3/10, you're in luck, if it says on Monday, no Saturday shipping for you. Okay, here's what to do, go on UPS.com and click on "Calculate time and Cost," then, package, weight: 3 pounds ship from: United States, random zipcode that's NOT yours. (90210
yea, they actually have a guide online somewhere, but it is hard to decipher at times.
The best thing is to make a fake package to yourself, like from a business in your area to your house - just check the delivery date and if it offers saturday delivery you should be fine.
I'm fairly certain that the iPads will actually need to *depart* China today in order for them to arrive for Saturday delivery. Mine just has the two lines of Billing Info Received and Origin Scan. If I don't see movement by late tonight or early tomorrow morning, I don't think it'll make it by Saturday.
If you calculate a package at UPS and use Worldwide Express, it will show Saturday delivery if you put TODAY as the ship date, but if you put TOMORROW as the ship date, there is no Saturday option (only Monday).

I ordered my ipad and it was to be shipped to KY. After it moved to 'pending' I had to change the delivery address to CA.
I phoned apple and they said that it was already on delivery and the only to change the address was to use a part of thier website I have never heard of before, where you can leave requests to UPS...Apple explained that they will try to deliver in KY, then mark it as the new address in CA.
A long shot but does anyone know how long it might take? I know it won't be on sat but will be by the following Friday?

Well realize Apple might have a differnt trick up their sleeve - because that estimate is using the NORMAL delivery timetables setup for that time period. Now those flights from ZGGG Guangzhou were never there before Tuesday and Today, so I believe that UPS might be bringing in more equipment to help with the demand.
But realize this: If sent Thursday morning(technically within the next few hours in China), the flight would leave at 7AM EST. Then it would make it to PANC Anchorage at around 5PM Thursday (EST). Then that flight will continue on with the same exact aircraft to KSDF and get there around 1 AM EST. From there, it has plenty of time to distribute out to everyone and be there a day early. The same process could happen if Apple sent them on "Friday" in China, as it would wind up getting to the US when it is Friday HERE.
So basically, the estimate giver is giving you what you would get if your grandmother sent you a package from her trip to Hong Kong (or something mundane like that). Apple has the same thing in each of its containers, is working directly with UPS WorldEase associates, and probably has UPS Associates from their China division helping to oversee the process - so they are in an entirely different bag in terms of how fast they can clear customs and get their packages to the States quickly
Oh definitely by Friday. The express shipping would be the quivalent of UPS's normal overnight delivery service (or 2 day if being conservative)... so it will get redirected as fast as possible, and would probably be there by Tuesday.
And what they did was used their WorldEase UPS abilities to request a redirect of the package - in fact, they may redirect it when it gets to the KY facility. however they may have to obtain that authorization form and then get authorization from Apple to do it.

Nope. You'll get it on Saturday. I experienced the same thing with my 3GS. Everybody was posting tracking numbers and mine hadn't even been prepared for shipment.
Turns out mine was shipped from Tenn (to NY) and was left Tenn. at 2am on the day I received it. I received it at 10:30 am that day. In fact, I recall that I actually received the tracking number email AFTER the package had been delivered.
I had a package that was supposed to be delivered today by the UPS, I wanted to talk to the UPS driver and see if he was going work this saturday, he usually does. I just want him to know i'll be home on saturday and waiting for him. If he doesn't show up before noon, I'm personally going to hunt him down.
Sadly, because I thought the UPS guy was going to show up in the evening, that's 99% of the time when he show up, I was wrong. I forgot that the passover changes everything, he tried to deliver in the morning but I wasn't home. I live in the majority Jews area, so almost all the stores are closed and thus no deliveries are attempted to those stores. Anybody else will get their stuff early during the passover. Hopefully this means this Saturday, I'll be seeing him very early in the morning.

Just checked my UPS Tracking order and it's showing this now:

Any idea of what that means? I was expecting something like "arrived in the U.S. and will be delivered to you on time this Saturday Mr. MicroByte"
I swear, watching these tracking descriptions stresses you out!
