iPad shipped, Apple just sent out tracking numbers!

Since you are in Vegas, delivery will be BY noon, but UPS is overlaying everyone with an "end of day" statement.

I would be safe and put that pre-signed notice on your door just in case...
 
Mine still has not shipped out. My shipping date has changed from 3/30 to 3/31 to now 4/1 so hopefully it will leave china within the hour and be on a flight to anchorage.

It may not leave within the hour... it would leave sometime overnight, as they ship out during the evening (around 5 AM EST --> 5PM Hong Kong).

After that it should catch a flight to PANC that leaves around 7 AM EST and then be at PANC around 5 PM EST.

I am not sure, however, if it will go out tomorrow or the next day. I think everyone with just "Origin Scan" and "Billing Info" notices will be on a plane by the morning.

If that does happen, I will let everyone know on here - I get up at 5:30 EST everyday, and can track it until about 8 AM EST when my classes start.

Then I have studyhall and lunch tomorrow so I can track it then too.

I got the same scan as you with a shipping date of 3/31 now.

This isn't the conventional shipment, so I think a lot of people are seeing weird stuff.

Usually the billing hits, then the origin scan. Perhaps the first scan was it dumped off at the UPS warehouse, and now it just got its paperwork sent electronically. Either way, activity is good.

Yeah I know I have Saturday delivery...I use Amazon all the time. I do plan on putting the pre-auth on the gate, the can always leave it inside my courtyard.


And YES - FIRST POST for ME :D

I finally got a clear answer from a UPS rep that my location is in fact eligible for Saturday delivery. I've had to speak to three different people. The first two times I gave them my tracking number, which only seemed to complicate things. Finally, I didn't offer a tracking number and received a definitive answer. Looks like I will accomplish absolutely nothing this Saturday!!! :D
 
Anyone have a UPS tracking that is just "ORIGIN SCAN" (03/30/2010 8:20 A.M.) with no "BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED"?

Mine has been like this for a couple days now with no change. Seems weird, but I'm trying to just remain calm.:)

Mine was like that for about a day until it updated today with billing info

Basically UPS has your shipment, its just either:
1) Apple hasn't tendered the full billing information to UPS
or
2) The UPS site is taking FOREVER to update

Have you tried using iship.com or packagetrackr.com to track it? They might provide more precise info that the UPS site filters out to make it easy for the general public to understand xD
 
Question on shipping with the iPad:
We were going to a different state this weekend so I had used my sister-in-law's address as the delivery address.

We found out tonight that a relative is very sick so we are going the opposite direction from where our initial trip was taking this.

I called Apple and tried to change the shipping address back to my home address and they said that they couldn't b/c the iPad has already shipped.

When I checked the order status on Apple's website, the "Pre-sign for this shipment" address had my home address.

Does this mean that the iPad will be shipped to my house instead of my in-laws?

Haha, yea but most are with different flight numbers.

As of right now there are not IFR Flightplans filed by UPS that have aircraft coming from VHHH Hong Kong or ZGGG Guanzhou.

However, as the history is showing on Flightaware, the flights most likely will be coming out in the AM, sometime around 7 AM EST. (Which is 7PM Hong Kong)

Packagetrackr and iship both still say the same thing. Just origin scan, nothing else. Weird, but thanks for the reassurance!

(Must...remain...calm...trust...it will be here...:p)

That is odd, but the pre-sign should technically have the delivery address on it (maybe it copied the billing address?)

okay. If your package has the info on it when you track it at UPS.com (like the destination, and any sort of scans) then that is good. What you should do is call 1-800-PICK-UPS and say "Track a Package". After you give it the tracking number and it gives you the status, say Agent. It will say it is the latest status, and will ask if you really want an agent. Say "Yes."

Then press 2 for international shipments at the next menu. Then tell the agent that you want to track the status of your package. They SHOULD confirm the delivery ADDRESS with you, not just the city.

If they don't, ask them for the delivery address.

Don't ask to change the shipping address, because they can't. If they cannot complete delivery they will return it to Apple. However, someone said earlier that Apple would try to put a change of address on the shipment - which they should have the power to do (trust me, it comes with the WorldEase service).

Do that and then post here what happens :) Hope this helps!

Hey, just out of curisity - what are the first 6 characters of your tracking number? If I am able to identify their account number (which sometimes is in the first 6 characters of a tracking number) then I *may* be able to "validate" the account on UPS and get even further info on my tracking :)

However, they may not have the standard code and have a different associated account number, which i wouldn't be able to access unless I stole one of their invoices xD

Called UPS. They gave me the address for my sister-in-law. I'm guessing the Shipment Release Authorization copies the most recent delivery address.

I'm hoping though that they do just happen to change the delivery address!

Did get this snippet of information which probably has been said before "Your package is currently scheduled for delivery by 10:30am Thursday April 1st but is currently awaiting customs clearance."

Yea, no that person just hasn't been briefed on Apple packages - because an English lady I called earlier (who was very nice and had a southern accent that was clearly from KY xD) said that "With Apple's packages, it should be approximately April 3rd, or the 5th (but then she said no the 3rd cus my area had Sat. Delivery which I already knew)).

But I wish the best of luck to you! I would try calling Apple back and seeing if there really is absolutely nothing they can do. Like i said, if to be believed someone earlier said they got them to send a request for change in delivery address... its worth a shot. Maybe if you mention to them the family illness, it may make them a little more inclined - rather than just you wanting to change it on a whim :)

(And I am sorry about the illness - I hope they get better soon!)
