Hey all!

Who missed me ;). Seems like some people are making good progress. Here's mine:

4/1/2010 9:13:00 PM ARRIVAL SCAN ANCHORAGE, AK US
4/2/2010 4:23:00 AM DEPARTURE SCAN CHEK LAP KOK, HK
3/30/2010 8:38:00 AM ORIGIN SCAN SHENZHEN, CN
4/1/2010 8:09:00 PM BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED CN

haha also looks like Muhr stole some of my job while o was away xD jkjk thanks for helping everyone man. I started to suspect that the "enroute to Guangzhou" scans were an error before I went to bed last night, and my last tab open was UPS21 flight track and I was like "well the times ARE close,,, but I need sleep!" haha.

Me and you are on the same plane! Hopefully we are on (should be) UPS 21 again. It will arrive in Kentucky in a little over 2 hours from now.

Hey... what do you know about UPS43? Some of us visited Korea last night and went to Anchorage but never got a scan in Anchorage before the same flight took off again for Louisville. Should we have gotten a scan in Anchorage?

Mine:
4/2/2010 9:32:00 AM AIR TRANSIT SCAN INCHEON, KR
4/2/2010 4:10:00 AM DEPARTURE SCAN GUANGZHOU, CN
3/30/2010 10:31:00 PM EXPORT SCAN GUANGZHOU, CN
3/30/2010 10:29:00 PM ORIGIN SCAN GUANGZHOU, CN
3/29/2010 3:49:00 PM ORIGIN SCAN SHENZHEN, CN
4/2/2010 8:39:00 PM BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED CN

Well that air transit scan may have scanned it all the way to Anchorage.

I saw a post earlier on today from someone saying that the Anchorage stopover was just a manifest scan. Not necessarily!

See when those planes arrive in Alaska, they have to have cleared certain cuStoms checks before the final checks in Louisville. If those packages get rerouted or possibly are set to be held in Alaska, then our packages on their WorldShip crates would be scanned and removed from the plane ANY time those pallets are removed or sorted they are manifest scanned.

Now UPS43 might have not need to have our packages unloaded, it is quite possible it was just a stop over for crew change and refueling. But the stopover time it had does indicate that some packages had to be removed - it doesn't take that long for a crew change. Maybe an hour and a half at most, not almost 3.

I wouldn't worry - the package shoulD scan when it arrives in Louisville

Like mine, because maybe they had no need to actually sort our packages ( remember how many people had the same status) then they may not have rescanned for departure when they replaced it on the plane. Oraybe it was just a manifest scan.

Either way wait till UPS21 and UPS43 get to louisville. Also remember be happy in knowing your package hasn't sat in KY foe three days. Every time I have a package held overnight there it almost always is manhandled in some way. It

Can anyone tell me what's going on here. I've been told by ups it was air scanned in Korea but they don't have any US scans yet and what the heck is the exception? I don't understand how it cant be in Alaska yet....I'm getting very worried.
try tracking via iship.com ifyou aren't already. Click trackit and the. Put your information in. It gives a lot more detail than the UPS sites filtered info :)

Curiosity question:

My iPad left Alaska yesterday at 8:25am, the ultimate destination is Los Angeles so would they send it to Kentucky and then to California or directly to the Ontario CA hub?

if anyone here knows UPS shipping patterns I'd appreciate it :D

They will send it to Ontario and then truck it down to Gardena most likely.

Yikes! Why is my iPad going to Hong Kong? It was already in the US in Anchorage!

4/1/2010 8:26:00 AM IN TRANSIT TO CHEK LAP KOK, HK
4/1/2010 8:25:00 AM DEPARTURE SCAN ANCHORAGE, AK US

I am not sure entirely, but it will be one of those two.

I would think it would go to KY but it is possible it heads to Ontario first. However I would think it would head to KY as the REST of the shipments are -it would not make sense to have to split
a crate up in Alaska just to
get a few hundred packages out for one state.

I mean idk haha. It's possible but I would say KY first.

UPS & iShip say that my iPad is out for delivery. Is anyone else in the same situation? I'm curious if UPS will actually deliver it today or not... I don't know if I can leave the house or not. :(

It is an error - just like last nights departure scans from Hong Kong and their subsequent "enroute to guanzhou" scans - that was an error.

Trust me that is an error too - for no reason would they send it back - if that was the case they wouldn't have time to get it to you on Saturday.

It's on it's way to KSDF Louisville. :D

I personally doubt it'll go to Kentucky first. Everytime I've ordered something from Apple (Im in SoCal too) it's gone from Alaska directly to Cali. If you're getting your iPad tomorrow (which i'm assuming) I don't think it's likely it'll be going to Kentucky.

I could be wrong of course, we'll see soon enough!

I'm trying to make an incredibly difficult decision. I want to take my boat out tomorrow for the first time since winter. It's supposed to be beautiful here, and I haven't been on the water since September.

On the other hand, my iPad is supposed to show up. I know this is a really awful situation to be in, but I just can't make up my mind.

It won't deliver until tomorrow - that is what those internal activity scans were - holds at the local sort facility.

It says out for delivery because they made their final scan on the dock, and I can assure you they placed them to the side in a bin waiting for the morning truck for tomorrow when it will be loaded and delivered :)

UPS did make some errors and people are receiving them early there are at least five un-boxing you tube videos.

My has been sitting in KY since the 31st but since I'm only a couple hours away guess I won't be having any movement until tonight.

I hope after the US launch Apple releases the Canadian price and launch date. I think they are waiting for after Saturday and the initial wave of shipments before they announce anything.

Stay with me on this. There are electronic files known as ASNs (Automatic Shipment Notifications), and they electronically update the logistics of shipments, such as tracking. When you have a large number of individual orders shipping together on pallets, they are then called Consolidated ASNS; that will be the case with the iPad shipments. OK... so a Consolidated ASN is like an envelope that tells you what individual orders are within those series of pallets. we will call the example Envelope A. Envelope A has 30 pallets worth of orders in its data. Those pallets get split among two seperate flights. Pallet 1 from Envelope A gets scanned in CN, so every order in Envelope A gets a tracking update. Pallet 25 gets scanned in AK, so now all orders in Envelope A show AK. So on, and so on, and you end up with orders bouncing between countries at random times. Once UPS scans in the orders in KY, it will start to break open Envelope A, and start tracking by your individual tracking number. That will happen for everyone, regardless of their status right now, later today. The original KY scan for some is probably because you are in an envelope of ASNs that included Apple Store and Best Buy shipments. Those have to get here first so they can get to the stores and prepped for pick-up and sale first thing Saturday. People like me with an exception because I do not have Saturday delivery are still moving with the rest, but KY will handle those exceptions when they arrive, secondary to the rest because they have until Monday to deliver. If you have Billing info received, then your ASN didn't get in one of the envelopes, but will appear as soon as it arrives in KY, and will deliver on saturday or Monday. Sorry for the dissertation, but this is what I do for my company, and manage this all day every day with UPS.

Now, off to download more iPad apps from iTunes!

Trust me, that was my decision until this morning when I saw how nice it was outside. I just have this gut feeling that if I sit home to wait for it, it'll show around 5 PM. What a pickle I'm in.

Yea like I said I'm not sure. It is very possible ( as the previous poster dis a great job at explaining ASNs) that they have certain pallets destined for the West coast that will head that direction first. We will see :)

I'm kind of in the same situation. I'm going cycling in the morning with some friends, but am going to put the pre-signed form telling UPS to leave it on my doorstep on my front door so I don't miss them.
