I don’t think it’s going to be the same. Apple manages to update the camera every year. I’m sure it’s going to be one of the greatest selling point of this year.
Next year, 10x optical zoom 😱 4nm chip 😱 Face ID behind the screen 😱 under screen Touch ID 😱 port less 😱

Apple event hurry up already. 🤦‍♂️

If they release much better zoom, holepunch and Touch ID next year I think that is a strong upgrade. I doubt a new design though and I think 3nm is the real breakthrough but that won't be until 2023 IIRC.

This year is 120 promotion and smaller notch. solid upgrades but nothing amazing. 2022 will be better, but I still think 2023 will be the phone that puts it all together for this generation of phones. XS, 11 and 12 have been really average releases I think, so 3 good years of releases is welcomed.

Agree, nothing to get excited about this year if you’re upgrading from a 11 pro or 12 pro series. Hopefully they’ve managed to keep a few surprises for the event, doubt it though, most of the leaks regarding new iPhones are normally very accurate.

We can hope for periscope lens for zoom next year but its possible may not arrive until 2023 with the notchless Iphone

It will be no more “holdable” than any other model unless you already hold on several cycles, for those that don’t hold on every year there is “something” that makes it be a MUST upgrade lol, every year, every time…will always be so.

There are a lot of news regarding the new model of iPhone. Looking through the pictures, there isn't much difference compared to iPhone 12. Well it does have more colors but feature wise? I think you'd better buy other phone if you already have iPhone12. If you don't, you should buy it then.

Yes Samsung messed up a little bit on the fold 3 but I ordered it to see if I’ll love it more than my fold 2 which is the best phone out right now IMO
The hardware is impressive. Unfortunately it runs Android. Different folks, different strokes though.

The iPhone 13 series will have a feature complete 5G modem which will get a number of us with 12 models to upgrade. Limited carrier aggregation combos have made an interesting situation where 5 and 7 carrier LTE aggregation can beat out sub-6GHz 5G and the X55 modem in the 12 series runs quite hot and is very power hungry too. I’m personally trying to hold out for the iPhone 14 with the X65 modem that’s actually got upgradable firmware for the real future-proof 5G and hopefully Touch ID but I don’t blame anyone who wants to upgrade to a better 5G modem.

What 2023 😱 was planning on upgrading next year, maybe I should upgrade this year and the following year. 🤔😂

Apple hurry up with my 8" foldable iPhone, no crease thank you.
So far some are saying 2022 bit kuo said 2022 but then said 2023 so who knows. He also said last year Touch ID was coming…

I was really hoping they'd get all the 5G kinks worked out this year, but I'm hoping the modem in the 13 will be sufficient to access the higher speeds for the next 2-3 years. I've already committed mentally to this update cycle, even though it sounds like next year will feature the more exciting spec bump.

You're really confident Apple's gonna do all of this at once lol
The most I can bet is the periscope camera. (besides obvious chip size)

As much as I want Apple to take more risky steps with their hardware, they're taking baby steps and just playing it on the safe side.

The X60 they should be using this year is more than sufficient right now. Really the only thing that the X65 has is upgradable firmware while the X60 adds VoNR, carrier aggregation between mmWave and sub-6GHz, and a die shrink that brings with it plenty of efficiency so yeah, people getting the X60 should be happy with it.

I've been on a ~2 year cycle since the iPhone 6s. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my 11 Pro, but I'm ready for an upgrade. The X60 modem, 120hz refresh rate, a smaller notch (is this really happening?) all sound appealing. Also, I finally decided to make the jump to the Max. I'm actually toying around with the idea of selling my 11 Pro right now to maximize the resale price and using an old 7 Plus (my wife's old work phone) that I kept for backup purposes while I wait.

I am still using my iPhone se 1 gen... I just ordered a new battery off Ifixit. I dont really want Face ID, was going to buy iPhone 13mini, but I guess I will wait til its on sale in a year or two.

brb. 10 years later using iPhone SE. you'd be surprised how many girls comment on it *omg, its so small!*, and im not joking, LOL its about the phone I swear

Ugh I could never make that kind of a downgrade for even a week lol.

I thought you was replying to mine, I was like damn that hurts. I havnt experienced a new iPhone, I got an iPhone 3GS, then iPhone 4s then iPhone SE. 3 phones total in like 12 years? damn.. I would get battery replaced @ apple, I usually do every 2.5 years, but they denied me. told me theres "water damage" there was water damage last time they replaced it, but they wouldn't do it this time. oh well. gonna toss ifixit myself and if I break it, 13mini

its only 32gb, and im only using 24gb lol.

Kind of awesome that you can make phones last that long. I’m a tech junkie so I have never been able to do that. At one point I was upgrading my phones twice a year when I had the original JUMP! program on T-Mobile. I kept my XS Max for 2 years and that’s the longest a phone has lasted since the Sidekick II back in 2004 which I dropped in 2006 for my first smartphone, a PPC-6700. I’ve never broken a phone, I just want the new shiny every year lol.

I plan to get a Pixel this year and then trade my 12 Pro Max for a 14 next year maybe.

I don’t spend much money though so I justify my buying a new phone that way. In the last year I have managed to put away about 35% worth of my annual income in savings which is huge for me. I was never able to save before, always spent everything I had, so I definitely need to reward myself this year. Lol.

Thanks for the reassurance and the informative post. I admit I haven't done my homework when it comes to all the different facets of 5G or the hardware that supports it, so it's good to know that this year's modem is a big advance over last year's. Funny how something so critical to performance doesn't get the attention that the notch does.

Since his phone is not out yet another available to the public the title seems to definitively sure of itself. It’s almost like it’s meant to drum up sales because it speaks in future tense and it’s still subjective to anybody or any iPhone customer. Got to be clear on where we try and because it could be a pump up sales the pump up stock kind of idea here??

Different uses, I only use my phone to text/phonecalls and make day traders using robinhood/td ameritrade. I have about 10gb of music, and OS system. I have like a total of like 20 apps (99% of them being the preloaded ones). wouldn't call myself a power user at all. form factor is most important and be able to use pandora/CarPlay.

that said, it would be nice to have a nicer phone so bluetooth reached further for my powerboats pro at the gym. but I use my watch now most of the time.

I use prepaid plans, so theres no incentives for me to get discounted new phones, I pay 200 a year I think for mint mobile.
