An aspect that’s very often overlooked when it comes to this is time: the shorter the cycles-to-time ratio, the better the health. Time degrades batteries by itself, so somebody who puts in more cycles in less time will have a far better ratio.

I’ve seen it repeatedly, but just to give an example, I’m a light, efficient user who never updates iOS. Therefore, my devices have great battery life, so cycle count is low, and the health-to-cycles ratio is... mediocre.

I’ll give an example: My iPhone Xʀ (that is on iOS 12 and that is my main phone), is at around 270 cycles with 93% health. Decent per Apple’s claims, but if you see some examples here, it’s not that amazing. An iPhone 8 I’ve seen, after 4 years of heavy usage, had 83% health after 1800 cycles. One has a high cycles-to-time ratio, the other one doesn’t.

Same with iPads: I’m not a heavy user, so my 9.7-inch iPad Pro has 750 cycles with 84% health in over 7.5-years. A family member’s 6th-gen iPad has 680 cycles and 93% health, in 4 years. Almost twice the cycles-to-time ratio, better health.

I haven’t used my over 7.5-years-old 2015 MacBook Pro much, so the health-to-cycles ratio is poor: 94-95% with only 113 cycles. Had I used it more, it would be better.

And another one, down to 93% now, losing a percent a week. In a way i'm hoping this carries on.
Do you have Apple care? Otherwise you have to hope it gets down to 80 before the 1 year mark.

Cycle Count: 64
Maximum Capacity: 100%

I have it set to 80% charge limit and have optimised charging enabled but I don't charge it during the night. Sometimes I'll go over 80% and rarely let it go below 15-20%. Most of the time when it's charging I'm not using it.

Does this seem normal? I charge every night. View attachment 2362461
Ouch, 99% and you've only been using it since last month?

I do delivery and have my phone mounted on MagSafe in my car. The 13 mini and 14 Pro could not keep up via MagSafe, but 15 Pro is stellar!

I don’t know what to do. Apple said it was normal. I see a lot of other with higher count and at 100%.

Gotta be in it to win it

While I understand this is annoying there is not much you can do. Apple has published their guidelines and hopefully the 99% is just a rounding error.

Battery health I would think is dependent on a number of factors some obvious:
- usage
- temperature (higher is worse)
- battery construction
- low voltage/100% scenarios
-etc

In other words the higher the load at higher the temperature is worst.

I would say that if the % decreases consistently (like 1% per month) then there might be an issue.

Battery Health calculation is based on a reference capacity, some batteries have a bit more capacity, some less.

80% for Apple is the magic replacement number (within the warrantee timeframe).

I like to think of that figure as a guesstimate anyway :)

edit: ah this option only exists on 15 Pro. Dumb
Well its there for Pro since the dedicated mute toggle button was replaced by the Action button.
But yeah, still would be nice for non pro users (or any iPhone really) to have that visual notification.

My 15 Pro Oct. 23 first time used until around a week ago i charged 100% each day every 15 to 20 hours, battery health was normal and 100%.

Now i set 80% battery health still normal my cycles 23 when battery drops to around 65% in 12 or 15 hours i recharge it and it takes maybe 1/2 hour to again reach 80%

For me setting charge limit at 80% is the best place for my needs, after a few months i will again reset to 100% and see how the battery responds.

It's not on my Pro-Max, and my phone is always on silent mode (Apple Watch takes care of notifications).

That requires a mac . But there is a battery stats shortcut that can be created that reads your daily analytics under the Privacy and Security settings.
I think you have to have analytics turned on to use the shortcut, but it's funny that my launch day iphone 14pm is at 100% and the 15pm is at 99% according to apple battery health

Despite the cycle’s increasing the current max battery capacity and battery health on my 15 Pro continue to go up in small increments in real battery stats.
