This is price discrimination as they think UK is a smaller market.
Check all recent apple products like m2 MacBook Air 15 inch, it’s more than changing the currency but adding the number by 50
lol, no.
It amazes me that you can now get a Mac that’s far more functional than an iPhone and yet cheaper.
That depends on how you define “functional”.
Mac has a bigger screen, more powerful SOC and a totally different software library and platform.
The iPhone has cellular service, a dramatically better camera, portability, NFC, tuns of health features, Apple Watch compatibility, the AppStore, emergency SOS…

People have been predicting U.S, iPhone price increases pretty much every year and this year is no different.

The original Pro line launched in 2019 with starting prices in the U.S, of $999 (Pro) and $1,099 (Pro Max), both with 64GB storage. Adjusting for inflation, that would be around $1,190 (Pro) and $1,309 (Pro Max) in today's dollars. Given the various improvements since 2019 and that the new phones will start with at least twice the storage (possibly four times if the 256GB rumors are correct), a price increase seems reasonable.

Makes sense.

Considering inflation and Apple being one of the few large tech companies that hasn't engaged in mass employee layoffs, I would be shocked if there wasn't a small price increase.

I'm fine with it.

Life goes on.

100% agree. Just got a “new” iphone 12pro from assurion, and thanks to renewed battery I don’t see any need to upgrade.. however usb-c would be nice.

Up until the iPhone 12 Pro i Upgraded every year without fail, but at some point I just got sick of paying $1200+ for a phone — I want to pay less for phones not more — so I guess I’m not gonna upgrade for awhile and even if I do maybe I will buy the year old model and not the latest?

I've had the iPhone 12 Pro Max since release and it's an awesome phone still to this day. This is the first time I ever went 3 years between upgrades and wasn't a bad decision at all. The battery did degrade at 1.9 years in. Now I feel it's time to upgrade considering how much I'm on-the-go again.

USBC is a bit overrated if one travels a lot. Considering how many places still have USB2 ports like every plane, hotel nightstand or bed consoles, and the like. So you're either carrying C-to-2 cords, or your C-to-C and a power brick. I know Apple saw it as an eye rolling change, as it isn't going to change the multiple cord situation.

Is that slight convenience of only carrying around one charge cable really worth giving Apple over $1k for? A lot of people will still need to take two cables to charge two devices - does it really matter if one of those cables is a lightning cable?
Sell your old iPhone or trade in with your carrier; no reason to pay full price for an iPhone.

Shocked I tell you!

iPhones get better every year. But ever since the iPhone 12 Pro I don't see a convincing reason to upgrade.
I can see maybe upgrading to the 13 pro as the battery and 120hz is nice, but the 14 pro only if you might be out where you could benefit from the satellite emergency system. Otherwise, the island thing is a joke and the battery seems worse. The only way I'll go to the 15 pro is if I can truly use USB C with all my devices now.

"Guys, we're preparing big changes for next year's iPhone 16. Honest! But if you don't mind, we'll raise the prices this year so we can raise them again next year."

Digitimes does not want to miss out on this "news" ...
and, how long have prices been the same? and how does the ongoing inflation not impact Apple?

Not quite. Oh I wish we were paying more for overpriced storage.

Margins. Less iPhones getting sold so Apple needs to charge more.
I guess we’ll see. I’m going to go with what I said for now and getting rid of the 128gb is one less sku and will help margins. I think the big jump may becoming next year though since there is supposed to be an even larger screen.
People will probably bite at 1200 but 1300 will probably say naaaaw not this year. I need more apple magic for that price. Even with with carrier subsidizing people are watching their money.

I’ll be upgrading this year from my X to a Pro Max and then won’t upgrade again until Apple does some resign or big change

I've already decided to go with the non-pro phone this year -- and the price seals the deal. I've had my first Pro model this past year, and I found I don't really need the added functionality. I got it mostly because of the dynamic island, which I love, but that's supposed to roll out to the others.

But what color is the red in this article?!
Similar here. IPhones are now reaching a point at which they are too rich for my blood and the Pro models include features that I don’t really want or need. I’ve owned Pros for a while and, whether I upgrade this year or next, I’ll be dropping down to a base or Plus phone. I can imagine even eventually dropping down to SE level depending on my circumstances and pricing/specs when the next SE comes out.

I dropped down from an iPad Pro to an iPad 10 a few months ago. It still does everything I need it to do. My next Mac is likely to be an M3 Mini or, at most, the “base” M3 Pro with a non-Apple monitor. Apple’s lower-end products can still do a lot. Some people need the horsepower of the highest-level devices, but most have been convinced that they need more - and must pay more - than is necessary. It’s time for me, at least, to break that cycle.

I usually update every 2 years, I have waited 3 years before when i went from the 8 to the 12. I may do my first year upgrade from the 14 depending on what they announce. Mostly for USBC C

If Apple do increases prices it will push the pro models dangerously close in price terms to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Google Pixel Fold at least in Europe. Given the Z Fold 5 is only 13g heavier than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, there isn’t much of a weight penalty either. If it wasn’t for the Apple Watch I’d be sorely tempted.

Considering the decline in sales of iPhones recently increasing the price would not be a good idea so hoping they’ll be the same price or less, especially since it’s been 3 years sin I got my 12 and this is the year to upgrade!

Entertaining seeing people who use their iPhone 8 hours a day complaining about a $100 increase spread over 3+ years

Ah yes - the reason I’m still using an iPhone 8+ is because the iPhone was too cheap and didn’t come in enough colors.

Now that it’s more expensive and comes in a different shade of black, I’ll definitely get it.

Apple is trying to force me to get a new iPhone by dropping support for the 8+ this year.

IDK, I keep eyeballing the folding phones from Microsoft and Samsung. Maybe this year I’ll finally jump to the dark side. For security purposes, given the 8+ isn’t capable of running… uh… IDK, the new notes app or something?
